The Hummer H2 is an full-size off-road sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was marketed by Hummer and built in the AM General facility under contract from General Motors from 2002 until 2009. It is based on a modified GMT820 GM three-quarter-ton pickup truck in the front and a half-ton 1500 frame in the rear. A four-door pickup truck version with a midgate that opens the vehicle's interior to the external cargo bed was introduced for the 2005 model year as the H2 SUT (sport utility truck).

  • Summary: I PURCHASED A 2006 HUMMER H2 AT CERRITOS HUMMER. I CURRENTLY HAVE ALMOST 55,000 MILES. TODAY I WAS PARKING MY CAR AND NOTICED THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. ALSO THE BRAKES WERE REALLY WEAK. I USED ALL THE ENERGY I HAD TO GET INTO A GAS STATION DRIVEWAY. I DROVE ABOUT 1 BLOCK BECAUSE I NEEDED GAS WHERE I NOTICED OIL DROPPING UNDER THE CAR. I CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND THE OIL WAS COMING OUT NEAR THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I OPENED THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR AND SAW THAT THERE WAS VERY LITTLE OIL BECAUSE IT HAD DROPPED UNDER MY CAR. MY STEERING IS TOO HARD TO TURN AND THE BRAKES ARE ALMOST NON EXISTENT PULLING INTO THE GAS STATION. I CALLED CERRITOS HUMMER AND TALKED TO THEIR SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID I WAS PAST WARRANTY. I TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS EXACT PROBLEM, BUT HE SAID NO AND GOT VERY LOUD AND MEAN TO ME. I TOLD HIM HE DID NOT HAVE TO GET MEAN BECAUSE HE CAN ONLY DO WHAT THE COMPUTERS AND PROTOCOL SUGGESTS, BUT HE DID NOT DO ENOUGH RESEARCH PRIOR TO REJECTING ANY RECALLS. HE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO TOW MY CAR THERE AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO INSPECT AND THE CHARGES COULD BE HIGH DEPENDING ON THE PROBLEM. I SAID THERE WAS A RECALL BUT HE REJECTED IT AGAIN IN A STRONG TONE.   • Consequence: IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE HEATED WASHER MODULE TO IGNITE AND A FIRE MAY OCCUR.
  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL PERMANENTLY DISABLE AND REMOVE THE HEATED WASHER FLUID MODULE.     I owned my H2 for 7 months after previously owning a Mercedes E350. Unfortunately, I found that the H2 did not compare well to my previous car. The acceleration was lacking and parking in garages was nearly impossible, especially when wearing high heel shoes. Additionally, the gas mileage and interior were disappointing. While the H2 did attract attention, the feedback was mixed, particularly after Hurricane Wilma when there was a gas shortage in town. I am now much happier with my BMW 650, which is a more suitable SUV for my needs.

    Best, safest, super great looking and most dynamic vehicle we have ever owned! We absolutely love our H2 and wouldn't choose to own anything else. While it may not be the most fuel efficient truck out there, it's definitely worth the extra cost. The only thing we would suggest is that a rear view camera should be a mandatory factory installation. Overall, we highly recommend taking this truck for a test drive and getting to know it better.     Congratulations on becoming a recent H2 owner! As someone who has mostly owned sports cars, you must be thrilled with your new ride. The H2 is truly a unique vehicle that provides an enjoyable driving experience. It's no surprise that people respond so positively to it and want to ride around in it. Despite its size, the H2 feels safe and snug, making it a comfortable and cool ride. While it may not get the best mileage, it's great to hear that it's still more fuel-efficient than your 3/4 ton Silverado and easier to park. The ride is more like a luxury SUV than a pickup, and there's no other experience quite like cruising around in a Hummer. You had concerns about negative attention, but it's wonderful to hear that people love your H2. Keep driving politely and enjoy your amazing new vehicle!

    I recently purchased a one-owner Hummer H2 and had some initial concerns about its towing ability and gas mileage. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it averages 14.5mpg (2807.2 gal used/40920 miles accrued =14.5mpg) and handles beautifully. The dealer installed Radix Supercharger (63%-123% more power from 2k-6k rpm), with a base of 325hp, provides plenty of power - almost 600 HP at 6k rpm! Off-roading is a breeze, just be mindful of your throttle position. I also opted for the extended warranty for added peace of mind. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend the Hummer H2 to anyone in the market for a reliable and powerful vehicle.

    You've owned many different cars and SUV's from BMW 7 series, Range Rover 4.6 HSE and driven a Ford Excursion. However, you believe that the Hummer beats them all hands down. You have no worries about the gas mileage, as the Excursion got worse than the Hummer. You averaged 11mpg and if you're paying $60K for a vehicle what's another $20 per month in gas. You've had no problems at all after 1st year of ownership.

    I've only had my Hummer H2 for about a month and a half, but I absolutely love it! Even though I'm only 20 and it was a bit of a stretch financially, it's been worth every penny. I've received so many compliments on it and I'm proud to be a Hummer owner. It's a true 4x4 and sometimes when I'm out running errands, I'll park with one tire up on the curb just to show off its capabilities. If you're considering a new vehicle, I highly recommend it - you won't regret it!
