The Hummer H2 is an full-size off-road sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was marketed by Hummer and built in the AM General facility under contract from General Motors from 2002 until 2009. It is based on a modified GMT820 GM three-quarter-ton pickup truck in the front and a half-ton 1500 frame in the rear. A four-door pickup truck version with a midgate that opens the vehicle's interior to the external cargo bed was introduced for the 2005 model year as the H2 SUT (sport utility truck).

- Summary: While driving in extreme rain downfall at night my windshield wipers stopped functioning. I could not see the road. Luckily I had just exited the highway when this happened. Therefore I was able to move over to the side of the road turn on my hazards and wait an hour for the rain to settle before driving to a near by gas station. Otherwise a fatality would have been likely being on a busy interstate should the wipers failed to function then. That wipers do not work and the Hummer can not be driven when rain is expected. I heard a recall had been issued for wiper malfunction. However when pulling up any recalls from my vin nothing shows but I have seen recalls for this situation and for the same make model and year. Please advise. I have given the vehicle to my 16 year old son a soon to be new driver and is excited to start but I must get this safety isssue taken care of first.

- Summary: Yesterday I turned off the alarm and unlocked the doors via the keypad. I opened the driver door and my wife opened the passenger rear door and the Hummer H2 started. No key in the ignition and the fob does not have a start button. I then got in the car and inserted the key and turned the key to ON then to off and the vehicle would not shut off. Only after cycling through the gears was I able to shut off the vehicle. I have now disconnected the battery to prevent another unwanted start.

The contact who is a mechanic inspected the vehicle and notice that front differential carrier bolt had snapped was detached from the frame and connection to the engine. The vehicle was towed to the contact residence then towed later to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle diagnosed the failure the same as the contact that front differential carrier bolt was damaged and to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was at approximately 100,000. Consumer stated component that failed is the front differential to front differential carrier connection.

HOWEVER, THERE HAVE BEEN NEW REPORTS OF THERMAL INCIDENTS ON HWFS MODULES AFTER THIS IMPROVEMENT WAS INSTALLED. THESE INCIDENTS RESULTED FROM A NEW FAILURE MODE ATTRIBUTED TO THE DEVICE'S THERMAL PROTECTION FEATURE. THE SIGNIFICANCE VARIES FROM MINOR DISTORTION TO CONSIDERABLE MELTING OF THE PLASTIC AROUND THE HWFS FLUID CHAMBER.
- Consequence: IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE HEATED WASHER MODULE TO IGNITE AND A FIRE MAY OCCUR.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL PERMANENTLY DISABLE AND REMOVE THE HEATED WASHER FLUID MODULE. AN UPDATED PAGE FOR THE OWNER MANUAL WILL BE PROVIDED AND INSERTED IN THE OWNER MANUAL TO DOCUMENT THAT THE FEATURE HAS BEEN PERMANENTLY DISABLED AND REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. I really like the feeling of security that comes with being able to go over and through things with no problem. I also enjoy going mudding and my vehicle handles so well in those situations. It's also very comfortable to travel in, which is great because I've put over 20,000 miles on it in less than 6 months. Overall, I think it's definitely worth it.

You have a great taste in SUVs! Your H2 is a fantastic choice, and it sounds like it has all the power and torque you need to take on any adventure. Maybe an H3 could be a good option too, but it's clear that you are very happy with your current vehicle.

Congratulations on your new H-3! I can understand how you felt a bit slighted when you sat in a H-2. However, it's great that you found a late model used with warranty that you fell in love with. Buying a certified used car can save you a lot of money, up to 20K less than buying new, and you still get the same warranty without the depreciation. Your loaded H2 with only 10K miles for $39K sounds like a great deal, especially considering the MSRP was $58K. The drive and comfort of the H2 is unparalleled. Although the interior is very spacious, there is some wasted space in the rear. The wind noise can be a bit loud at highway speeds and the low roof takes some getting used to, but overall it's a fantastic vehicle. Thank you for sharing your experience!

The Best SUV out there! Let's stop comparing its gas mileage to that of a car that's a quarter of its size. When I drive it hard, I get about 9 mpg in the city, but when I drive more lightly, I get about 13 mpg. On the highway, I get about 10 mpg at speeds of 85 mph, and around 14 mpg at speeds of 65 mph. Remember, how fast you take off affects your gas mileage.

This is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned! It's a shame that these beautiful machines are no longer in production. It easily fits all three of my children in the middle bench seat and they absolutely love it! The cargo area is a good size and even more spacious if your H2 is fitted with the spare on the outside - mine is. Removing the single rear seat is a breeze and can be easily put back in. My wife also loves driving it. Additionally, I love to go fresh water fishing and the area I fish is not easily accessible as it has extremely soft sand and some hills to climb. But no problem for my H2! I just switch to low 4 and we're good to go! I absolutely love this vehicle and it's an eye-catcher with its all-black exterior and interior!

I enjoy driving my HUMMER when it's not in the shop. Although I've had some minor repairs, they have been major irritations. Unfortunately, I've had to replace the TV/DVD five times now! Additionally, I've had numerous issues with the 12 volt outlets and other electrical problems. The vehicle has been in the shop more than 15 times. To top it off, the entertainment system went out again and I was told that this model is no longer made and cannot be replaced. Even after three repairs, it still only works for 2-3 weeks. It's been frustrating, but I'm hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon.

There is an obvious electrical short causing issues with the AC panel. Despite paying $800 out of pocket, the dealer has replaced parts that were not related to the problem, including the speedometer cluster for $500+ and the AC panel for an additional $250. However, the issue persists. As an expert in this field, I recommend a thorough diagnosis of the electrical system to identify and address the root cause of the problem.
