Hummer H2 problems
The Hummer H2 is an full-size off-road sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was marketed by Hummer and built in the AM General facility under contract from General Motors from 2002 until 2009. It is based on a modified GMT820 GM three-quarter-ton pickup truck in the front and a half-ton 1500 frame in the rear. A four-door pickup truck version with a midgate that opens the vehicle's interior to the external cargo bed was introduced for the 2005 model year as the H2 SUT (sport utility truck).
Background
In 2001 and 2002, GM allowed journalists to examine early versions of the Hummer H2, which were still under development at the time.
The H2 was built by AM General under contract with General Motors at AM General Commercial Assembly Plant in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Common Hummer H2 problems
The Hummer H2 is a large SUV known for its off-road capabilities and distinctive design. However, it has several common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most common issues with the Hummer H2 is related to its fuel economy. The H2 is not known for its great gas mileage, and owners often report that it requires a lot of fuel to operate. This is due to the H2's large size and heavy weight, as well as its powerful engine options.
Another issue that many Hummer H2 owners experience is related to the vehicle's suspension system. The H2 is equipped with a sophisticated air suspension system that is designed to provide a comfortable ride, but it can also be prone to problems. Common issues include leaks in the air suspension system, which can cause the vehicle to ride unevenly or even sag to one side.
The Hummer H2 is also known to have problems with its electrical system. Many owners report issues with the battery draining quickly or not holding a charge, as well as problems with the vehicle's wiring and electrical components. This can lead to a variety of issues, including difficulty starting the vehicle or problems with the vehicle's accessories, such as the radio or air conditioning.
Another common issue with the Hummer H2 is related to its braking system. The H2 is a heavy vehicle, and this can put a lot of strain on its brakes. Owners often report that the brake pads and rotors wear out quickly, and that the brakes can feel spongy or unresponsive.
Finally, many Hummer H2 owners report issues with the vehicle's overall build quality. Despite being a tough and rugged vehicle, some owners report that the H2 is prone to rust and corrosion, especially in areas where road salt is used during the winter months. Additionally, some owners report that the interior components of the H2 can feel flimsy or cheaply made.
In conclusion, while the Hummer H2 is a powerful and capable SUV, it is not without its share of common problems. From engine and transmission issues to electrical and interior problems, there are several potential areas of concern for H2 owners. It is important for owners to stay on top of regular maintenance tasks and to address any issues as soon as they arise in order to ensure the longevity and reliability of their vehicle.

SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO AT LEAST 85% OF HUMMERS OUT THERE IF YOU CHECK AROUND, HUMMER FORUM AND OTHER PLACES. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS. STOPS AT INTERSECTIONS, AND COULD ON RAILROAD TRACKS. I KNOW THAT YOU'VE HAD COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS AND IGNORED THEM, SAYING THAT YOU HAVEN'T HAD OTHER COMPLAINTS. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY YOUR AGENCY, AS YOUR JOB IS TO KEEP THE CITIZENS SAFE. NOT PASS THEM OFF AS YOU'VE BEEN DOING FOR YEARS ON THIS ISSUE WITH THE GM PASS LOCK SYSTEM. THIS NEEDS RECALLED BEFORE MORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED DUE TO THIS MISS FUNCTION ON HUMMERS. MORE PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SHUTDOWN ISSUE THAN NOT. WHEN IT HAPPENS, YOU HAVE TO WAIT BETWEEN 10 AND 30 MINUTES WITH THE KEY IN THE START POSITION BEFORE IT WILL START. SO IT SITS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, INTERSTATE, BRIDGE, OR ANYWHERE ELSE DURING THIS TIME. HOPEFULLY YOU WILL ADDRESS THIS ISSUE PROMPTLY.

This SUV is both roomy and well laid out on the inside. It drives like a small car with a smooth, luxurious ride. Surprisingly easy to handle, it's a real head-turner wherever you go.

I recently purchased a one-owner Hummer H2 and had some initial concerns about its towing ability and gas mileage. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it averages 14.5mpg (2807.2 gal used/40920 miles accrued =14.5mpg) and handles beautifully. The dealer installed Radix Supercharger (63%-123% more power from 2k-6k rpm), with a base of 325hp, provides plenty of power - almost 600 HP at 6k rpm! Off-roading is a breeze, just be mindful of your throttle position. I also opted for the extended warranty for added peace of mind. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend the Hummer H2 to anyone in the market for a reliable and powerful vehicle.

You've owned many different cars and SUV's from BMW 7 series, Range Rover 4.6 HSE and driven a Ford Excursion. However, you believe that the Hummer beats them all hands down. You have no worries about the gas mileage, as the Excursion got worse than the Hummer. You averaged 11mpg and if you're paying $60K for a vehicle what's another $20 per month in gas. You've had no problems at all after 1st year of ownership.

I hope you're enjoying your Hummer! It sounds like a great vehicle - safe, reliable, and capable of hauling just about anything. Plus, I've heard that the mileage improves after the break-in period. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I've only had my Hummer H2 for about a month and a half, but I absolutely love it! Even though I'm only 20 and it was a bit of a stretch financially, it's been worth every penny. I've received so many compliments on it and I'm proud to be a Hummer owner. It's a true 4x4 and sometimes when I'm out running errands, I'll park with one tire up on the curb just to show off its capabilities. If you're considering a new vehicle, I highly recommend it - you won't regret it!

If you're looking for a vehicle that turns heads, this is the one! However, if you're in need of something more practical, a Denali might be a better fit. I previously owned a 2003 Denali XL, but decided to trade it in for a 2005 H2. While I enjoy the way it handles, the power and ride quality don't quite match up to the Denali. Additionally, the cargo room is limited and there's less storage space overall. There are a few other minor inconveniences, such as the navigation screen pointing towards the passenger, the lack of a six-disc changer, and a slightly bouncy ride. Personally, I'm considering going back to a 2007 Denali XL as soon as they become available.

I owned my H2 for 7 months after previously owning a Mercedes E350. Unfortunately, I found that the H2 did not compare well to my previous car. The acceleration was lacking and parking in garages was nearly impossible, especially when wearing high heel shoes. Additionally, the gas mileage and interior were disappointing. While the H2 did attract attention, the feedback was mixed, particularly after Hurricane Wilma when there was a gas shortage in town. I am now much happier with my BMW 650, which is a more suitable SUV for my needs.

Vehicle year: 2004
We've had this car for almost a year now, and we're already considering selling it. One of the main reasons is that it's just too big and hard to park in places. We also don't like the performance very much. It's slow, and the braking is bad. The interior isn't exactly up to luxury vehicle standards, and the leather doesn't feel premium like the Navigator or Lexus LX470. I wouldn't recommend buyers to purchase this car unless they do off-roading. I wish we had waited a couple of months for the redesigned Navigator to come out.

I appreciate the product, but I am a bit let down by the quality. Unfortunately, after only 3000 miles, the paint on the nerf bar brackets came off and the chrome is pitted, despite not having taken it off-road. Additionally, there is some rust leaking out around the screw heads on the exterior chrome luxury package upgrades. The driver seat is quite plush, but some may find it lacking in padding. If you weigh 200 pounds or more, you may find yourself sitting on the actual outer seat frame. Taller individuals may need to lower the seat all the way to avoid hitting their head.
