Common 2019 Gmc Sierra 3500 problems
The GMC Sierra 3500, a heavy-duty pickup truck, has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. One of the most frequently reported issues is related to the check engine light, which is often caused by a problem with the gas cap. This issue can be resolved by ensuring the gas cap is properly tightened, and if the problem persists, replacing the gas cap may be necessary.
Another common problem with the GMC Sierra 3500 is related to the tire and load information labels, which may not provide accurate vehicle capacity weight information. This issue affects certain trucks and sport utility vehicles from the 2005 and 2006 model years, and it can lead to a failure to comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards. Owners of affected vehicles will be provided with corrected labels and installation instructions to fix the issue.
The 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 has also been subject to recalls, including a recall related to the engine-block heater cord on diesel engines. This recall affects certain 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with a Duramax diesel 6.6 liter engine and an optional engine-block heater cord. An electrical short-circuit may occur in the engine-block heater cable or in the terminals that connect the heater cable to the block heater, which can lead to a fire risk. Dealers will disable the block heater, free of charge, and will provide free replacement block heaters and cords under a separate customer satisfaction campaign.
Additionally, the 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 has been subject to a recall related to the fuel system. This recall affects certain 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with a dual fuel tank option. The rear fuel tank may collapse and prevent the fuel pump from transferring fuel to the front tank, resulting in an engine stall. Dealers will inspect the fuel tank and fuel pump module, replacing them as necessary, and will add a vent hose to the rear tank assembly. Repairs will be performed free of charge.
Other common problems with the GMC Sierra 3500 include electrical issues, such as dash gauges not working and interior lights giving out, as well as problems with the heating system, such as the heater turning on randomly. These issues can vary in severity and cost to repair.
In summary, the GMC Sierra 3500 has been reported to have several common problems, including issues with the check engine light, tire and load information labels, engine-block heater cord, fuel system, electrical system, and heating system. Owners of affected vehicles should contact their dealership or GM customer service to address any issues and ensure their vehicle is safe to operate.
