The Ram pickup (marketed as the Dodge Ram until 2010) is a full-size pickup truck manufactured by Stellantis North America (formerly Chrysler Group LLC and FCA US LLC) and marketed from 2010 onwards under the Ram Trucks brand. The current fifth-generation Ram debuted at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, in January of that year.

Previously, Ram was part of the Dodge line of light trucks. The name Ram was first used in 1981 model year Dodge Trucks in October 1980, following the retiring and rebadging of the Dodge D series pickup trucks as well as B-series vans, though the company had used a ram's-head hood ornament on some trucks as early as 1933.

Ram trucks have been named Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year eight times; the second-generation Ram won the award in 1994, the third-generation Ram heavy-duty won the award in 2003, the fourth-generation Ram Heavy Duty won in 2010 and the fourth-generation Ram 1500 won in 2013 and 2014, and the current fifth-generation Ram pickup became the first truck in history to win the award three times, winning in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Common 1993 Dodge Ram 2500 problems

The 1993 Dodge Ram 250 has a number of common issues that have been reported by owners. These problems include:

  • Fuel injection pump failure: Owners have reported that the fuel injection pump has failed while driving at high speeds, causing the vehicle to rev at high speeds while in park. This issue can result in the vehicle being towed.
  • Transfer case failure: Owners have reported that the transfer case lever has started vibrating, resulting in a grinding noise and shaking of the vehicle. This issue can result in the transmission becoming extremely hot and smoking, indicating that the clutch material is burning.
  • Steering column coupler service: The steering column coupler may require service, which can result in more slack in the steering system and potentially cause loss of steering control. This issue can occur every 60,000 miles.
  • Fuel sending unit failure: Owners have reported that the fuel sending unit has failed, causing the vehicle to have problems with fuel delivery. This issue can result in the vehicle being unable to maintain a consistent speed.
  • Intercooler/charge air radiator: The intercooler/charge air radiator may not be able to hold pressure due to metal pitting or corrosion. This issue can result in the vehicle being unable to maintain a consistent temperature.
  • Caliper pistons: The caliper pistons may be defective, causing the vehicle to lock up and damage the brake pads. This issue can result in the vehicle being unable to stop properly.
  • Electrical feed wire to fuel heater: The electrical feed wire to the fuel heater may be routed too close to the throttle bracket, causing it to press against sharp edges of the bracket and abrade through the wires insulation. This issue can result in a short circuit and potential engine failure.

These issues can be costly to repair and may require extensive work on the vehicle. It is important for owners of the 1993 Dodge Ram 250 to be aware of these common problems and to take steps to address them as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the vehicle.

What are bad Cummins years?

We recommend staying away from the 1991, 1992, 1993, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2011 models. Many issues stem from these years. A few of the common appear in the format of transmission failure, charging system troubles, and electrical issues. These can be costly to handle and inconvenient for any driver.
