Bmw X5 sav problems
The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. At launch, it featured all-wheel drive and was available with either a manual or automatic gearbox. The second generation was launched in 2006, and was known internally as the E70. The E70 featured the torque-split capable xDrive all-wheel drive system mated to an automatic gearbox. In 2009, the X5 M performance variant was released as a 2010 model.
BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions. The X5 signaled a shift away from the utilisation of body-on-frame construction, in favour of more modern monocoque chassis construction. Although the Mercedes-Benz M-Class was introduced more than a year prior to the X5, the X5 was the first to utilise a monocoque chassis. The M-Class used body-on-frame construction until its second generation.
The X5 is primarily manufactured in North America, at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg. Assembly operations also take place in Russia by Avtotor, along with operations in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The X5 is also modified for armoured security versions, at the BMW de México Toluca plant.
The automaker's SAV series, which was started by the X5, has expanded with derivations of other number-series BMWs. This began in 2003 with the X3, and continued in 2008 with the X6 (which shares its platform with the X5).

THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE WAS DEGRADED AND I HAD TO PULL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO RESTART THE CAR. RIGHT AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR I HIT THE ISSUE AGAIN WHERE THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHILE ACCELERATING ON THE FREEWAY RAMP. BMW OF BELLEVUE WORKED WITH BMW OF NA TO REPLACE THE DME WHICH IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. BEFORE HANDING THE CAR BACK THE SERVICE ADVISOR DID A TEST AND WAS ABLE TO STILL REPRODUCE THE CAR GOING INTO LIMP MODE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY, DIAGNOSIS IS STILL NOT KNOWN. IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS TODAY SINCE THE ISSUE FIRST HAPPENED AND THE CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF USE FOR MORE THAN A MONTH AND THERE IS STILL NO CONCLUSION ON THE ROOT CAUSE.

- Summary: MY WIFE & I PURCHASED THIS 2012X5 2 YEARS AGO,LAST YEAR THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN OFF THE DRIVEWAY WHERE THERE WAS A LOUD SNAP&BAN. THE CAR DIDN'T MOVE. WE CALLED A TOW AND HAD IT BROUGHT TO JUPITER BMW FL .WE FOUND OUT THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT SNAPPED. MILEAGE WAS 45-48K MILES. WE CALLED BMW NA IT WAS A WARRANTY RECALL PART AND THE DEALER STATED IT WAS REPLACED. AFTER THAT IN THE LAST 10 MONTHS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY STRANGE MOVEMENTS IN THE REAR AND IN TURNS. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE TO A TECH WHERE THEY STATED IT WAS TIRES IN THE REAR. WE RECENTLY REPLACED THE TIRES & IT REMAINED TO BE THERE WHERE IT WAS MILD BUT THERE. DURING THIS TIME PERIOD WE HAD MANY SERIOUS OBSTACLES WITH CANCER & FAMILY IN PR DEVASTATED. WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AIRBAG, WE CALLED THE DEALER TO REPLACE IT. WHILE THERE WE FAILED TO MENTION IT BEING IN A RUSH & STILL ONLY ONE OF THE TWO AIRBAGS STILL UNAVAILABLE. AFTER WE LEFT DURING THE MONTH WE FELT IT MORE SO, AT THAT TIME I TRY TO REACH THE SERVICE ADVISOR & FAILED TO REACH HER IN SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. AFTER DRIVING THIS WEEK IT GOT SERIOUSLY WORSE WHILE MY FAMILY LITTLE CHILDREN IN CAR, WE PULLED OVER CALLED OUR LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE SAID BRING IT IF POSSIBLE OR TOW.SO WE DID! - Date Complaint: 2017-10-02
- VIN: 5UXZV4C50BL
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: X5 XDRIVE 35I SAV; WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL STREET AND HIGHWAY CONDITIONS, VEHICLE SPEED AND ENGINE RPM HAVE BECOME UNSTABLE. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO INCREASE AND DECREASE IT'S SPEED INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE IS NOT TRUSTWORTHY AS YOU MAY LOSE POWER, OR UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATE WHILE TRYING TO EXECUTE A DRIVING MANEUVER, CAUSING A DANGEROUS CONDITION. CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO BMW DEALERSHIP (ZT MOTORS) FOR DIAGNOSTICS. SERVICE PERSONNEL STATED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP INDICATED A LOW FUEL PRESSURE AT THE INLET. THIS WOULD TELL ME THAT THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP IS NOT DELIVERING THE CORRECT FUEL FLOW/PRESSURE TO THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. REF NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 16V746000 ET AL. DIAGNOSTICS ALSO INDICATED THE VALVETRONIC MOTOR SHOWS IT SHORT CIRCUITING. DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF VALVETRONIC MOTOR, CAM SHAFT AND OIL INJECTORS. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CAM SHAFT AND OIL INJECTORS ARE UNNECESSARY MAINTENANCE ITEMS, ONLY THE VALVETRONIC MOTOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, AND FUEL SYSTEM REPROGRAMMED. REF NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 14V176000 ET AL. RECOMMEND RECALL REPLACEMENT OF BOTH HIGH PRESSURE AND LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS, VALVETRONIC MOTOR, VANOS CAM SHAFT AND OIL INJECTORS AS WELL AS REPROGRAMMING OF FUEL OPERATING SYSTEM. ALSO REPLACE CAM SHAFT MOUNTING BOLTS.

- Summary: MY VEHICLE IS HAVING A RECALL REGARDING THE IN-TANK FUEL PUMP SINCE OCTOBER 2016 BMW OF SAN DIEGO HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT PART IN A TIMELY MANNER AND BMW OF EL CAJON HAS JUST PROVIDED THE NECESSARY PART FOR MY PERSONAL VEHICLE I HAVE WAITED ALMOST A YEAR FOR A PART TO BE PROVIDED FOR MY VEHICLE. MOREOVER, THE CAR HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING FAILURES IN IGNITION AND STALLING DUE TO THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE AND POSSIBLY OTHER ISSUES THAT ARE DERIVED FROM THIS SPECIFIC RECALL. OTHER ISSUES REGARDING THE ENGINE COULD BE IN QUESTION DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE ENGINE RARELY SHUTS BY ITSELF WHEN STARTING THE IGNITION, ALSO THERE IS A PROBLEM INVOLVING COLD STARTS IN MOST BMW VEHICLES AND MY CAR IS NOT AN EXCEPTION. THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF BY ITSELF IS A SPECIAL CONCERN BECAUSE THIS MAY MEAN THERE ARE OTHER FAULTY PARTS LOCATED DEEP WITHIN THE VEHICLE.

- Summary: DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON VACATION AND THE ENGINE WOULD STUDDER AND STALL ON THE HIGHWAY AND AN ERROR PROMPTED ON THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD THAT DISPLAYED "ENGINE MALFUNCTION" REDUCED POWER. OCCASIONALLY THE VEHICLE ENGINE WOULD CUT OFF WHILE ON THE ROAD AND NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT IT HAS A HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTION THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL IT SHOWED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS SOME PROBLEMATIC MODELS. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON BOTH LOCAL ROADS AND THE HIGHWAY. IN ONE OCCASION, I NEEDED TO RESTART THE CAR TO GET IT TO A SAFE LOCATION.

- Summary: TRANSFER CASE PROBLEM. BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, AFTER THE 2ND YEAR FELT VIBRATION /SHUDDERS WHEN MAKING TURNS FROM A STOP OR LOW SPEED. DEALER REPLACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS, CHANGED FRONT WHEELS. STILL SAME ISSUE END UP CHANGING 4 NEW TYRES AFTER A YEAR. UP UNTIL 2016 CHANGED AGAIN FRONT AND REAR BRAKE WHOLE SYSTEMS, FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REPLACED DUE TO SAFETY RECALL LAST JULY BUT STILL THE VIBRATION/SHUDDERS REMAINS. SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME IT COULD BE THE TRANSFER CASE AS IT IS MOST ISSUES THEY RECEIVED. QUOTED ME FOR $2650. TOLD HIM THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED 2016. THE FACT THAT THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WAS ALREADY REPORTED TO THEM EARLY ON AND NOW I'VE BEEN ASKED TO PAY FOR THAT LONG OUTSTANDING PROBLEM. VERY DISAPPOINTED. WENT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALER; TENAFLY UNDER PENSKE GROUP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR EVEN QUOTED ME FOR $8000; REACHED OUT TO BMW DIRECT US RECALL SERVICE AND WILLING TO PAY HALF SO IT'LL END UP STILL FOR $4000. BMW HACKENSACK UNDER PARK AVE GROUP QUOTED ME FOR $2650 PARTS AND LABOR EXCLUDING TAX. REALLY VERY DISAPPOINTED AFTER SPENDING/INVESTING A LOT OF MONEY TO THE CAR. HOPE BMW ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL ESPECIALLY I'VE BEEN SEEING A LOT AND SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSFER CASE IN X5. JUST LOOK ONLINE AND YOU'LL SEE A MANY COMPLAINTS. I'M SURE BMW SEES HOW MANY TRANSFER CASES THEY BEEN REPLACING UNDER THE WARRANTY OR THEY PROBABLY WON'T EVEN BOTHER THEIR OVERHEAD EXPENSE ESPECIALLY IT'S BEING PAID OFF BUY OTHER CONSUMER/OWNER WHO ENDS UP PAYING THE COST OUT OF WARRANTY, CONSIDERING THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX OR STANDARD PRICES. PRETTY SURE IF I GO TO OTHER DEALER, THEY'LL QUOTE ME DIFFERENTLY.
