The sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series consists of the BMW G11 (normal version) and BMW G12 (long-wheelbase version) luxury saloons. The G11/G12 generation was produced by BMW from 2015 to 2022, and is often collectively referred to as the G11.

The G11 was unveiled on 10 June 2015 at BMW's headquarters in Munich. An official public reveal took place at the 2015 International Motor Show Germany. This generation of the 7 Series is the first car lineup of BMW to be based on the CLAR platform. The CLAR platform adopts technology first introduced in BMW i models, namely the introduction of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer as structural chassis components. Long-wheelbase cars have the letter "L" in their model name.

As part of BMW's strategy of introducing plug-in hybrid variants for all future car models, the normal and long-wheelbase models were available with hybrid powertrains as 740e and 740Le in 2016.

Common 2016 Bmw 750lxi problems

The 2016 BMW 750Lxi has been reported to have several common problems by its owners, which include electrical system issues, vehicle speed control failures, airbag control module problems, turbocharger-related issues, tire bubbling, and high insurance costs.

Electrical system issues and vehicle speed control failures are among the most frequently reported problems in the 2016 BMW 7 Series. These issues can manifest in various ways, such as malfunctioning infotainment systems, window regulators, and seat controls. Some owners have reported experiencing sudden acceleration or deceleration, which can be both inconvenient and potentially dangerous.

Airbag control module problems were identified in a recall and stop-sale of select 7-Series sedans from the 2016 model year. The recall affects more than 6,000 vehicles in the U.S. and stems from a problem with the airbag control module, which may contain metallic residue. If some of that residue were to come in contact with the module's circuit board, it could cause the board to short circuit, rendering the airbags inactive in the event of a collision during the reset period.

Turbocharger-related issues have been reported by some owners, who have noticed a burnt oil smell, which they attribute to the turbos. This issue has been observed in previous BMW models with the same engine, and it seems to be a recurring problem in the 2016 BMW 750Lxi.

Tire bubbling has also been reported by some owners of the 2016 BMW 750Lxi. This issue has been observed at around 10,000 miles, and it has been attributed to the monopoly of the local BMW dealer, which has been slow to address the problem. This issue can affect the safety of the vehicle, as it can lead to tire blowouts.

Lastly, high insurance costs have been reported as a common problem for the 2016 BMW 750Lxi. The car's high price tag and luxury features make it an expensive vehicle to insure, which can be a significant burden for some owners.

In summary, the 2016 BMW 750Lxi has several common problems, including electrical system issues, vehicle speed control failures, airbag control module problems, turbocharger-related issues, tire bubbling, and high insurance costs. These issues can affect the safety, reliability, and affordability of the vehicle, and they should be taken into consideration when purchasing or maintaining a 2016 BMW 750Lxi.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2016-07-14
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: WBA7F2C54GG
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
  • Summary: I WAS LEAVING A SHOPPING CENTER ON GERMANTOWN PIKE AND JOSHUA ROAD IN LAFAYETTE HILL, PA AND WAS DRIVING ON THE SHOPPING DRIVEWAY TO GET TOWARD JOSHUA ROAD. THE DRIVEWAY DECLINES TO A STOP SIGN, WHERE YOU MAKE A RIGHT TO GO ON TO JOSHUA, OR A LEFT TO GO THROUGH THE BACK OF THE SHOPPING CENTER. A HONDA CRV WAS STOPPED, WAITING TO MAKE A RIGHT ON TO JOSHUA, AND I STOPPED BEHIND HER. I WAS FULLY STOPPED MY CAR MOVED SLIGHTLY FORWARD, AND I PRESSED THE BRAKE HARDER. THEN THE CAR MOVED AGAIN, A LITTLE MORE, AND I PRESSED THE BRAKE HARDER, AND THE CAR DEFINITELY DID NOT FULLY STOP AND GENTLY COASTED DOWN THE DECLINE TOWARD THE CRV THEN THE CAR ACCELERATED WITH A VERY LOUD NOISE, A NOISE THAT WAS LOUDER THAN A NORMAL ACCELERATION, AND MY CAR REAR ENDED THE CRV. MY FOOT REMAINED ON THE BRAKE DURING THE ACCELERATION. TO BE CLEAR, THIS WASN'T A BRAKING ISSUE, THIS WAS A SELF-ACCELERATION ISSUE. IT FELT LIKE THE SELF PARKING CAPABILITY, OR SOME OTHER FORM OF SOFTWARE, HAD "TAKEN OVER" AND OVERRODE THE BRAKE. THE FEELING WAS THAT THE CAR "SURGED" AS THE SELF ACCELERATION HAPPENED WHILE BRAKING, VERSUS A SMOOTH FEELING. AT THE TIME I HAD THE CAR FOR 180 MILES. *TR
