2005 Bmw 745i problems
The fourth generation of the BMW 7 Series consists of the BMW E65 and BMW E66 luxury cars. The E65/E66 was produced from 2001 to 2008 and is often collectively referred to as the E65. The E65 replaced the E38 7 Series and was produced with petrol and turbo-diesel straight-six and V8 engines, along with a petrol V12 flagship model.
The E65 was the first BMW vehicle to include the iDrive infotainment system and the exterior styling (overseen by Chris Bangle) marked a significant departure from traditional BMW styling. Other new features included active anti-roll bars, a six-speed automatic transmission, an electronic Smart Key (dispensing with the traditional metallic key), and night vision. The 760i model also utilised the world's first production V12 engine to use direct injection.
In late 2008, the E65 7 Series was replaced by the F01 7 Series.

Common 2005 Bmw 745i problems
The BMW 745i 2005 is known for its luxurious features, powerful engine, and smooth ride. However, like any car, it has common problems that owners have reported over the years.
One of the most common problems with the BMW 745i 2005 is gearbox issues. The car's gearbox can shift roughly or hesitantly, which can be a sign of a more serious problem. The gearbox oil in the 7-Series is sealed for life, which means it should last for the lifetime of the car, typically 8 to 12 years
. However, if the car is older and has not had its gearbox oil changed, it may be due for an oil change, which can help smooth out the shifting.
Another common problem with the BMW 745i 2005 is poor handling. Some owners have reported that the car feels unstable or difficult to handle, especially at high speeds. This can be caused by a number of factors, including worn suspension components, misaligned wheels, or issues with the car's electronic stability control system
The BMW 745i 2005 is also known for cam chain stretch issues. The car's cam chain, which is responsible for controlling the movement of the engine's valves, can stretch over time, which can cause a number of problems, including engine misfires, reduced performance, and decreased fuel efficiency. This issue is more common in cars with higher mileage, and can be addressed by replacing the cam chain and tensioners
In addition to these mechanical issues, the BMW 745i 2005 is also known for problems with its iDrive system. Some owners have reported that the system can stall or crash, which can be frustrating and potentially dangerous. This issue can be caused by a number of factors, including software glitches, hardware failures, or issues with the car's electrical system. If you're experiencing issues with your iDrive system, it's recommended that you take your car to a BMW dealership or authorized service center for diagnosis and repair
Finally, the BMW 745i 2005 is known for its high depreciation rate. The car's value can drop significantly over time, which can be a concern for owners who are looking to sell or trade in their car. However, this can also be an advantage for buyers who are looking for a luxury car at a more affordable price.
In summary, the BMW 745i 2005 is a powerful and luxurious car that is known for its smooth ride and high-tech features. However, like any car, it has common problems that owners have reported over the years, including gearbox issues, poor handling, cam chain stretch, iDrive problems, and high depreciation. If you're considering purchasing a BMW 745i 2005, it's important to be aware of these issues and to have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic before making a purchase.

2005 Bmw 745i recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2005 Bmw 745i.
- Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC
- Components: LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH
- Summary: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2005-2008 745i, 745Li, 750i, 750Li, 760i, 760Li, and B7 Alpina vehicles equipped with both the Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options. In these vehicles, the doors may appear to be closed and latched, but, in fact, may inadvertently open.
- Consequence: The door may unexpectedly open due to road or driving conditions or occupant contact with the door. The sudden opening may result in occupant ejection or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
- Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will update the door latch system, free of charge. The recall began February 8, 2018. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at [email protected].
- Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC
- Components: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
- Summary: BMW is recalling certain model year 2005-2008 7-Series vehicles, equipped with the Comfort Access option, and manufactured August 23, 2004, through July 24, 2008. The affected vehicles have an electronic key and an electronic connection between the gear shifter and the transmission (shift-by-wire) that automatically shifts the transmission to Park when the driver presses the Start/Stop button to shutdown the engine. If the driver presses the engine Start/Stop button 2 or 3 times within a short time interval, the system may shift the transmission to Neutral rather than Park. If using the electronic key (Comfort Access mode), there would be no protection from the ignition interlock that prevents key removal if the vehicle is not in Park.
- Consequence: If the driver exits the vehicle with the transmission in Neutral and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle may rollaway. Unattended rollaway incidents often result in a crash or cause injury to pedestrians attempting to stop or enter the vehicle or to other bystanders in the path of the vehicle.
- Remedy: BMW will notify owners beginning in November 2012. The remedy became available in March 2013. Owners may call BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at [email protected].

- Consequence: The door may unexpectedly open due to road or driving conditions or occupant contact with the door. The sudden opening may result in occupant ejection or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
- Remedy: BMW will notify owners and dealers will update software. The recall began on December 12, 2012. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at [email protected].
