Common Audi Rs7 problems

Based on the information provided in the sources, here are some common problems reported by Audi RS7 owners:

  • Suspension Issues: Some owners have faced suspension problems with their RS7, such as the front of the car dropping significantly after sitting for a period, indicating suspension issues. These issues can lead to a need for evaluation and repair by a dealership.
  • 48V System Problems: Another common complaint involves problems with the 48V system in the 2021 RS7 models. Owners have reported issues with this system, leading to extended wait times for parts and repairs at dealerships.

These problems highlight some of the key issues that Audi RS7 owners may encounter, ranging from mechanical to electrical issues. Regular maintenance and prompt attention to any warning signs can help mitigate these challenges and ensure the longevity of the vehicle.

Audi Rs7

Is an Audi RS7 reliable?

The Audi RS7 is a high-performance luxury car, and its reliability can vary based on several factors. It's important to note that reliability can be subjective, and experiences may vary among different owners.

What is the problem with the Audi RS7?

One of the most frequently reported issues among Audi RS7 owners is related to the car's electronic systems and technology features. Some owners have experienced malfunctions with the infotainment system, navigation system, or driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.

What is the Audi RS7 engine failure?

Vehicles Recalled

Audi RS7 sedans manufactured between July 25, 2013, and March 30, 2017. The problem: An oil strainer with a mesh filter that's too narrow could get blocked with oil and/or carbon deposits. If this happens, oil might not reach the turbocharger, and it could fail.

Is it worth buying an Audi RS7?

The RS7 is supremely comfortable and even extra-practical thanks to its hatchback body style. But while the RS7's swiftness puts it in league with such mega-sedans as the BMW M5 Competition and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing the experience behind the wheel is less visceral than in the big Bimmer or killer Caddy.

  • Date Complaint: 2021-04-09
  • VIN: WUAW2AFC8FN
  • Components: ENGINE

DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A TURBOCHARGER FAILURE IN ONE BANK (DRIVER'S SIDE) THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE FROM AUDI AS A RESULT OF A CLOGGED OIL SCREEN THAT LED TO OIL STARVATION AND EVENTUAL CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE TURBOCHARGER ASSEMBLY.
Audi Rs7 2014
  • Date Of Incident: 2019-07-09
  • Date Complaint: 2021-04-05
  • VIN: WUAW2AFC3EN
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: I CONTACTED MULTIPLE AUDI DEALERSHIPS REGARDING CONCERNS ABOUT MY CAR CONSUMING LARGE QUANTITIES OF OIL IN-BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND THAT THE OIL CAP HAD AN INCREASED AMOUNT OF SUCTION WHICH MY AUDI CERTIFIED MECHANIC SAID WAS AN INDICATION OF THE PCV VALVE FAILING. I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT REPLACING THE PCV VALVE BEFORE IT WENT BAD AND RISKED TAKING OUT MY TURBOS AND ENGINE, WHICH HAPPENED TO A PREVIOUS AUDI S7 I OWNED, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T LOOK AT IT AGAIN UNLESS IT WAS MAKING A WHISTLING SOUND. AUDI KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART. INSTEAD OF FIXING THE ISSUE TO PREVENT BIGGER PROBLEMS FROM HAPPENING, THEY ARE MAKING THE CONSUMER ROLL THE DICE AND HOPE THEIR CARS DON'T BLOW UP. I PAID MONEY OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TO FIX THIS BEFORE BIGGER PROBLEMS OCCUR. AUDI SHOULD BE COVERING THESE COSTS.
Audi Rs7 2014
  • Date Of Incident: 2020-09-01
  • Date Complaint: 2021-04-03
  • VIN: WUAW2BFC6EN
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: THIS VEHICLE SUFFERED SERIOUS MECHANICAL DAMAGE AFTER EXPERIENCING A CLOGGED TURBO SCREEN. THIS REQUIRED BOTH TURBOS TO DO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE NEW SCREEN FOR THE TURBO LUBRICATION SYSTEM, AS WELL AS THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW PCV UNIT. THIS REMAINS A MAJOR FAULT IN THESE ENGINES. CONTINUED OIL CHANGES AT THE RECOMMENDED MANUFACTURER INTERVAL WILL WORSEN AND INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD OF THIS FAULT. HOW DO YOU RECOMMEND OIL CHANGES AT 10,000 MILE INTERVALS. REDUCING THE OIL CHANGE INTERVAL TO 5000 MILES INCREASES THE RELIABILITY AND SUSCEPTIBILITY TO OIL SCREEN CLOGGING. THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN VARIED BETWEEN STANDARD CITY DRIVING AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE OIL CHANGES WERE CONDUCTED AND STANDARD MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURE RECOMMENDATIONS. WHEN HIS FAULT IS DETECTED, THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO START AND FEELS TO RUN. EARLY DIAGNOSIS PREVENTS CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE.

  • Date Complaint: 2021-04-03
  • VIN: WUAW2BFC1EN

Audi Rs7 2016
  • Date Of Incident: 2020-11-04
  • Date Complaint: 2020-11-16
  • VIN: WUAWGAFC8GN
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: AS I WOULD COME DRIVE ON THE CITY ROADS AND COME TO SLOW DOWN TO A STOP OR MAKE A SIGNAL TURN THE AUTO STOP WOULD COME ON BEFORE MAKING A COMPLETE STOP AND SHUTS THE CAR OFF WHILE STILL IN MOTION. CAUSING THE WHEEL TO LOCK AND I WOULD HAVE TO STOP THE CAR PUT IT IN PARK AND PUSH THE START/STOP BUTTON TO ACTIVATE THE VEHICLE AGAIN.
Audi Rs7 2014
  • Date Of Incident: 2020-08-06
  • Date Complaint: 2020-08-09
  • VIN: WUAW2AFC0EN

Audi Rs7 2014
  • Date Of Incident: 2018-05-13
  • Date Complaint: 2019-06-09
  • VIN: WUAW2AFCXEN
  • Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: BOTH TURBOS BECAME STARVED OF OIL AND DISINTEGRATED. ACCORDING TO SERVICE PERSONNEL, THE CAUSE WAS DUE TO A CLOGGED OIL SCREEN FILTERING OIL TO THE TURBOS. THE CAR HAD BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY AND PRECISELY PER AUDI FACTORY SCHEDULE. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT LOST POWER AND STALLED WHILE TURNING ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC FROM US 202 SOUTH. NO COLLISION OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CAR WAS FLATBEDDED TO AUDI WILLOW GROVE. BOTH TURBOS WERE REPLACED AS WELL AS A CHECK VALVE AND THE COMPLETELY CLOGGED OIL SCREEN WHICH WAS CHANGED TO A REVISED VERSION THAT APPARENTLY REDUCES THE CHANCE OF CLOGGING AND STARVING THE TURBOS OF OIL. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON SAFETY ISSUE PER NUMEROUS REPORTS RELATED TO 4.0L TWIN TURBO ENGINES AFFECTING AUDI S7, RS7 AND S8 UNITS.
Audi Rs7 2016
  • Date Of Incident: 2019-06-07
  • Date Complaint: 2019-06-07
  • VIN: WUAW2AFCXGN
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: IT HASN'T HAPPENED YET, BUT MY CONCERN IS GROWING AS AUDI HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. PER AUDI TSB 2044640 AND BENTLEY TSB 20520851 VOLKSWAGON GROUP IS AWARE OF TURBOS FAILING ON THEIR 4.0T ENGINES. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS THE OIL SCREEN RUNNING TO THE TURBOCHARGER'S (CLOGGING), AS WELL AS THE OIL SEPARATOR FAILING/CRACKING. I'M CONCERNED FOR MY OWN SAFETY AS I LIVE IN A STATE WITH SPEED LIMITS OF 80 MPH - IF MY TURBO BLOWS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I HAVE A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AT 80 MPH I DON'T KNOW HOW THE CAR IS GOING TO REACT. NOT ONLY THAT BUT A FAILED TURBO IMPELLER CAN BE FED BACK INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING PERMANENT ENGINE DAMAGE, AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS COULD BE A DISASTER. AGAIN, MY FAILURE HASN'T HAPPENED YET BUT I'M CONCERNED FOR MY PERSONAL SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS.

    Vehicle year: 2016

This car is so amazing that it motivates me to work harder, just so I can always have one. I always ask my RS7 for permission to drive it. If Jerry McGuire had an RS7, Renee Zellweger would still be a single mom.
