EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2011-01-01
- VIN: JTKJF5C74B3
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: I CONSTANTLY HAVE PEOPLE STOPPING ME TO TELL ME THAT I HAVE A BACK UP LIGHT OUT. WHEN I DECIDED TO REPLACE THE BACK UP LIGHT, I FOUND THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE TWO LENSES, THERE IS ONLY ONE BACK UP LIGHT. THEREFORE, IF ONE BURNS OUT, I HAVE NO BACK UP LIGHTS. IT IS ALSO VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE BACKING UP AT NIGHT. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IN JAPAN, THEY ONLY USE ONE BACK UP LIGHT AND ON THE 2011 MODELS THEY ONLY CAME WITH ONE. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ON MANY LEVELS AND WE, AS CAR OWNERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FLIP THE BILL TO GET AN ADDITIONAL BACK UP LAMP INSTALLED. THERE ARE AFTER MARKET KITS AVAILABLE TO DO THIS. BUT, IT INVOLVES CUTTING IN TO THE WIRING HARNESS. STATE INSPECTION LAWS SAY THAT BACK UP LIGHTS NEED TO WORK. HOW DID THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS? *TR

IT LOOKS LIKE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT BUT TOYOTA DEALER/WARRANTY DOES NOT SEEM TO COVER. SEEMS LIKE OTHER FOLKS ARE HAVING THE SIMILAR ISSUE (FROM YOUTUBE). JUST WANTED TO RECORD THIS COMPLAINT. NOT REALLY AN ACCIDENT (SORRY - NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT FORUM). 2011 SCION TC HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=TURRAX_X7B8 <--- BEST ONE THAT SOUNDS LIKE OUR TC HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=JINQVKKS4ZM 2012 SCION TC WITH HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=5B-G_S_AX8Y. *TR

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-02-06
- VIN: JTKJF5C79B3
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 7:00AM ON 2/6/12 ON THE 215 S. GOING AROUND 75MPH. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FLOORED ALL THE WAY DOWN AS IF SOMEONE HAD THEIR FOOT ON IT. I PANICKED AND HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO BUT PRESS THE BRAKES. AS I PRESSED THE BRAKES THE CAR JERKED ME AROUND. I NOTICED CARS IN FRONT OF ME STARTING TO SLOW DOWN AS I WAS ENTERING TRAFFIC. BY THAT TIME MY CAR WAS GOING 100MPH ON ITS OWN BECAUSE I HAD REMOVED MY FEET FROM THE PETALS. I LAST MINUTE REACTED AND PUT MY FOOT UNDER THE PETAL AND PROPPED IT UP MYSELF AND IT IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN SAN BERNARDINO THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND I HAD TO PICK IT UP. I WAS VERY UPSET THAT THEY WERE NOT TAKING ME SERIOUSLY ONLY BECAUSE I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE AND RETURNED THE CAR TO THEM AFTER HAVING TO PAY THEM SOME MONEY. I ASKED WHAT THEY WOULD DO WITH THE CAR AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD RESELL IT. WHEN I SHOWED CONCERN FOR THE NEXT OWNERS SAFETY THEY TOLD ME "IT IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM ANYMORE" I WAS VERY DISSAPOINTED BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SINCE THE DAY I TURNED 18 AND HAVE ONLY BOUGHT TOYOTAS. I STILL CAN NOT BELEIVE THAT THEY WILL RESELL IT THE WAY IT IS AFTER THEY KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO IT NOT ONCE BUT 2 TIMES BEFORE, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT HAPPENS TO THAT CAR AGAIN. I AM PREGNANT AND AM VERY THANKFUL THAT I REACTED ON TIME AND WAS ABLE TO PROP THE PETAL BACK INTO PLACE IF I HADNT I HAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT ME AND MY BABY COULD HAVE GOT REALLY HURT NOT TO MENTION THE OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME. PLEASE CONTACT TOYOTA AND HAVE THEM DO FURTHER TESTS ON THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT RESULTS FATAL ONCE AGAIN IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO TOYOTA. ( ALSO, I HAD NO FLOOR MATS IN MY CAR AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT). *TR
EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-01-30
- VIN: JTKJF5C71B3
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: I HAVE A 2011 SCION TC AND SHORTLY AFTER MY PURCHASE NOTICED ONLY ONE REVERSE LIGHT WORKS. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS HOW SCION MANUFACTURED ALL THEIR 2011 SCION TC'S. THE THING THAT REALLY THROWS ME OFF IS THAT IT HAS THE AESTHETIC APPEARANCE OF TWO REVERSE LIGHTS BUT ONLY ONE WORKS. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY CLOSE CALLS I'VE HAD BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY A PASSING CAR BECAUSE THEY AREN'T ABLE TO SEE MY REVERSE LIGHT. NOT TO MENTION, PEDESTRIANS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT BECAUSE OF THIS. *TT

PEOPLE APPROACHING THE CAR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE CANNOT SEE THIS LAMP; THEREFORE THEY DON'T KNOW THE VEHICLE IS REVERSING. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT MANY TIMES DUE TO OTHER VEHICLES NOT BEING AWARE OF MY REVERSING. THIS IS ALSO TRUE OF PEDESTRIANS WALKING BEHIND/NEAR THE MY VEHICLE AS THEY CANNOT SEE THE REVERSE LIGHT FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. I WAS NOT TOLD THIS VEHICLE HAD ONLY ONE REVERSE LIGHT WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I QUESTIONED THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD EASILY RESULT IN A PEDESTRIAN OR CHILD BEING HIT AS THEY MAY WALK BEHIND THE VEHICLE UNAWARE OF IT BEING IN REVERSE. *TR

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your coupe! It sounds like it has a lot of great features, like the roomy interior and comfortable, supportive seats. Upgrading the center armrest with a padded version sounds like a great idea for even more comfort. The fog lights and Bluetooth installation are nice touches that really add to the overall look and functionality of the car. The Alpine head unit with a good-sized touch screen display is definitely a plus, and it's great that the dealer installed options are fairly priced. While the hydraulic clutch may take some getting used to, it's good to hear that the manual shifts well. It's important to stay focused on your driving, as the steering can easily veer into oncoming traffic. Overall, it sounds like a great choice for a retired guy like yourself!

We recently traded in our 2007 tC for the new 2011 tC and we're really happy with it so far! We chose the Concrete color and we're loving the new interior look. The performance, ride, and gas mileage are all great. While there are a few changes that we're not thrilled about, such as the headlights not shutting off automatically and the windows requiring you to hold the switch the whole time, we understand that these changes may have been made for safety reasons. Additionally, we've noticed that only one of our back-up lights is working, which seems odd, but we're assuming it was manufactured that way. Overall, we're really pleased with our purchase and would definitely recommend the 2011 tC to others!

This is my second car, now be it the first one was a 2006 Corolla and this car will last awhile. I have had this car for over two years now and have only had a minor fix on my sunroof. This car isn't that sport, but it is exactly what you get for the price. The back seats have surprisingly a lot of room. I have fit two people at the same time that where 6 '5 and they where comfortable. The speakers are very nice stock. Most people invest money into speakers that sound worse.

I took several trips in this car. You'll love the way it handles curves and turns on a dime. It also has some pep that you'll really admire.

The exterior of this car has an aggressive style that catches the eye. Although I wasn't sure what to make of the dash materials, they didn't feel cheap and I didn't feel slighted in the least. This vehicle is a fun way to get from point A to point B, with some extra curricular teases. I found it easy to fall in love with this car for what it was, and hard to hate it for not being something that would cost another 4-5 thousand dollars out of pocket. If you're looking for a convenient and stylish way to get around without sacrificing efficiency or breaking the bank, this car should definitely be in your considerations. Overall, this Toyota lives up to its name in terms of drive and comfort.

Hey there! Thanks for your interest in the new Scion tC. While the car may look similar to its predecessor, there are some exciting updates to note. While the 2.5L inline-4 engine may not be the most powerful, it still provides a smooth and enjoyable ride. It's true that the C-pillars can create some blind spots, but the car is equipped with advanced safety features to help mitigate this issue. Additionally, the rear quarter panels give the car a sleek and stylish look. Thanks for considering the new Scion tC!
