In 2006 (for the 2007 model year), the fourth generation LS 460 debuted the first production eight-speed automatic transmission and an automatic parking system. In 2007, V8 hybrid powertrains were introduced on the LS 600h/LS 600h L sedans.
Development of the LS began in 1983 as the F1 project, the code name for a secret flagship sedan. At the time, Toyota's two existing flagship models were the Crown and Century models – both of which catered exclusively for the Japanese market and had little global appeal that could compete with international luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar. The resulting sedan followed an extended five-year design process at a cost of over US$1 billion, and premiered with a new V8 engine and numerous luxury features. The Lexus LS was intended from its inception for export markets, and the Lexus division was formed to market and service the vehicle internationally. The original LS 400 debuted to strong sales, and was largely responsible for the successful launch of the Lexus marque.
Since the start of production, each generation of the Lexus LS has been manufactured in the Japanese city of Tahara, Aichi. The name "LS" stands for "Luxury Sedan", although some Lexus importers have preferred to define it as "Luxury Saloon". The name "Celsior" is taken from Latin word "celsus", meaning "lofty" or "elevated".

I purchased my vehicle in July 2018 and it has been great so far, even though it is a 14-year-old model. It may be considered a dinosaur in the luxury game, but it is still relevant and will keep owners happy as it grows older, as long as you do your part. Personally, I grew up with large, gas guzzling RWD V8's and I still love them. While Dodges are cool, I needed reliability and wanted to be loyal to the company that employs me. As a MASTER ASE and Toyota Master service Technician, I may be a little biased, but please read on. The dealer I work for sells Toyota AND Lexus, and I have seen the LS430 often in the parking lot. I liked it. For me, it's not about the label, it's all about the V8. You hit that gas and this thing hauls @SS. It may not be as stylish or cutting edge as its European counterparts, but it is able to balance luxury with reliability better than they do. People writing their reviews may have horror stories, but a large majority of them have had multiple owners, and some treated it better than others. Some were trouble cars sold off and shipped away to another state and sold at auctions to buy here pay heres. If you didn't buy it from the dealer, there's a reason. They didn't maintain it and wanted to unload it. I was fortunate to get mine after having only one owner. These LS's rarely experience expensive issues, and if they do, having a good relationship with the dealer helps these people tremendously.It's great to hear that you're a Toyota owner and we value your loyalty. The Lexus LS has many pros, but my personal favorite is the exhilarating feeling you get when accelerating onto the highway. The DOHC 32v V8 engine is powerful and responsive, yet the interior is so well-insulated that you hardly notice how fast you're going. Of course, like any car, there are some cons to consider. One issue with the driver's seat is that it can be difficult to retrieve items that fall into the gaps. Additionally, the LS is 14 years old and lacks some of the newer features like USB and Bluetooth connectivity. However, there are retrofit devices available to help with this. Overall, the LS is a reliable and enjoyable mode of transportation that delivers on its promises. While it may not have the latest technology or the best fuel efficiency, it's a great choice for those who prioritize comfort and performance.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my Lexus. I bought it with 28K on the odometer and now it has 130K. I'm happy to report that the car has been virtually trouble-free! I make sure to do regular oil changes (every 5K) and standard maintenance as per the manual. Recently, I switched from 93 octane fuel to 89 and I'm now getting between 24-25 mpg in mixed driving and 27 mpg on the highway at an average speed of 80 mph. I noticed a slight improvement in fuel economy with no change in performance. I've had no problems with the car so far, not a single minor thing has gone bad. This car has been over-designed and it shows; you feel like it'll go forever. I moved to Lexus from Audi, which was a great car to drive as well, but it started falling apart after 35K. Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my thoughts on my second LS 430. I have to say, it's even better than the 02 I had before! The seats are much more comfortable and improved, making it a pleasure to drive. While it may not handle like a Bimmer, it's still pretty good. And the dependability is perfect - I never have to worry about a thing. One of my favourite features is the Bluetooth phone, which works flawlessly with my Treo every time. And let's not forget about the A/C - it's the best I've ever experienced! The cooled seats are also a welcome relief in the desert. Overall, I think this car offers unbeatable luxury value for the money. That's just my opinion though - what do you think?

It's worth noting that many LS430 drivers may not be as familiar with luxury car workmanship. While the LS is a reliable vehicle, there are some areas where corners have been cut to save money. For example, the dash in my car was four different colors, and while Lexus acknowledged the issue, they unfortunately did not follow through on their promise to fix it. Additionally, the driver's door has been rattling since the beginning and has not been fixed, and the hinges and inside of the trunk were not painted to match the car's color. There are a few other issues to be aware of, so it's important to take a close look at the car, paying particular attention to the exposed screws at the bottom of the door sills.

I have owned this car brand new for almost 7 years. From the beginning, I was impressed by the wonderful level of support and service. I trusted the reviews of reliability and long-lasting promises of this car, as it was our retirement car and more money than we have EVER spent on a vehicle. We have done every service recommended and not let anyone but the dealer touch the car. It was treated impeccably. Although there have been some issues with the car, such as shocks/struts leaking, AC compressor, seat belts, battery, interior malfunctions, trunk button/shock lifts, brakes, tire indicators malfunction, auto door closer, etc., I still believe that this car is a great investment. Unfortunately, Lexus says that there is no warranty, but I am confident that with proper care and maintenance, this car will continue to serve me well.

I have always been a fan of Lexus cars, but I have noticed that the newer models have become increasingly complex, which can lead to expensive failures. For instance, my most recent experience with the Navigation unit was quite frustrating. The screen stopped working at only 28k miles, which affected the GPS, climate control/defrost, rear view camera, and stereo, including the radio/CD changer. Unfortunately, this rendered the car undriveable, as I was unable to use the defrost function. The cost of replacing the gadget is a staggering 6k, which is not covered by warranty, even though the car only has 30k miles. I believe that this is a result of poor engineering.

My Lexus LS430 is an okay car. Although the engine is underpowered, it is very quiet and the ride is nice. However, I personally don't like the car very much and regret buying it. The dealers at the dealership treated me poorly, as if I was buying a Geo Metro. I should have bought the new Q45 instead. Additionally, the sound system in the Lexus is not very good, as it sounds very tinny.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to bring to your attention a few things that I noticed about the car. Firstly, I found the driver's seat to be a bit uncomfortable as it feels like you're sitting in a hole and the perforated seats don't allow for easy movement. Additionally, I had trouble finding a good way to run the XM antenna in the trunk. Lastly, I found it difficult to see the orange letters on the display as they were too small. Oh, and I also found the ride to be a bit too hard with the low profile tires. I hope this feedback helps!
