2023 Jeep Grand wagoneer problems
The Jeep Wagoneer is a sport utility vehicle (SUV) nameplate of Jeep vehicles, with several models marketed for the 1963 through 1993 model years and again since the 2022 model year.
Various versions of the Wagoneer were manufactured in the US and other nations by Kaiser Motors (1962−1971), by American Motors (1971−1987), by Chrysler (1987−1993), and Stellantis from 2021.
A revival of the Jeep Wagoneer was introduced as a concept version on September 3, 2020, and as the production model on March 11, 2021. Sales begin in the second half of 2021 with 2022 model year versions.

Common 2023 Jeep Grand wagoneer problems
The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, while a beautiful and feature-rich vehicle, has been plagued with several common problems that have left many owners frustrated and dissatisfied. These issues include:
- Fit and Finish: Many owners have noticed that the exterior fit and finish of their Grand Wagoneer is off, with issues such as panel gaps and unevenness. Additionally, the SUV has been reported to vibrate at highway speeds, which can be uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.
- Interior Comfort: The heated seat on the driver's side has been reported to stop working, which can be inconvenient and uncomfortable in cold weather. Additionally, the massive steering wheel has been criticized for being difficult to grip, particularly for drivers with smaller hands.
- Safety Systems Failures: Some owners have reported that the safety systems, including lane assist, have failed repeatedly, leading to sudden and unexpected braking. This can be a serious safety concern, particularly in heavy traffic or at high speeds.
- Towing Capacity: While the Grand Wagoneer has a best-in-class maximum towing capacity of up to 10,000 lbs, some owners have reported that the vehicle vibrates excessively when towing, which can be uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.
- Recall: A recall has been issued for the 2022-2023 Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer due to potential side curtain airbag problems. The recall affects more than 44,000 SUVs and is due to the possibility that the upper B-pillar interior trim may not be fully in place, which could interfere with the side curtain airbag deployment.
- Reliability: Consumer Reports predicts that the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be less reliable than other new cars, based on similar models and the Jeep brand's overall reliability scores.
These common problems have left many Grand Wagoneer owners feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with their vehicles. Some have reported that the vehicle has spent more time in the shop than on the road, and that the customer service and support provided by Jeep have been inadequate. As a result, some owners have recommended avoiding the Grand Wagoneer and purchasing a different vehicle instead.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-14
- VIN: 1C4SJVGP3PS
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: I have a 2024 jeep grand wagoneer. It has been activating it's emergency braking system randomly while driving. One time it was on a road with a 55mph speed limit the car beeped and slammed on the brakes. Morning sunny no traffic car was clean and free of dirt. Second time was on a 2 lane road speed limit 35 day light car beeped and slamed on the brakes the behind me had to go into oncoming lane to avoid hitting me. The 3rd time was after leaving the dealership after the 4th time in for service for them trying to figure out why the truck is doing this. Was on the cross street from the 2nd time. This time it high lighted a mail box in the night-vision mode and slammed on the brakes again day light no traffic car was clean. Mail box wasn't hanging in the road. We opened a case with FCA for a buy back they denied it. FCA also has not issued a stop drive order. We are currently using my wife's car to transport the kids as we do not feel comfortable with the issue not being resolved with FCA. My wife has the same truck hers is having the same issue but not slamming on the brakes hers is in currently with jeep engineering and they want us to record the car when it actives the system with our phones while driving. We feel very unsafe driving the cars and is hoping NHTSA can step in with some help. At the end of the day we are both trading our less than 1 yr old trucks in for another brand and is losing around 30,000 between the 2 vehicles.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-01
- VIN: 1C4SJVGP1PS
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: To the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):Subject: Safety Issue Report: UConnect System Malfunction in Jeep VehicleDear NHTSA,I am writing to report a significant safety concern with the UConnect system in my Jeep, which has been malfunctioning for the past four months. The system's failure to recognize voice commands and manage remote commands compromises the vehicle's safety features, including hands-free calling and potentially emergency assistance services. This issue is covered under warranty, yet despite repeated attempts to have it addressed by Jeep, there has been no resolution. The malfunctioning UConnect system, crucial for safe vehicle operation by minimizing driver distraction, is not responding correctly, indicating a possible hardware or software failure. Given the importance of such systems for vehicle safety and the refusal of the manufacturer to correct the problem under warranty, I am seeking your intervention to ensure the issue is adequately addressed.I believe this could represent a broader safety issue that may affect other drivers and request that the NHTSA investigate the matter further to ensure vehicle safety is not compromised.Sincerely, XXXXX Attached is my husband's email communication chain. Other complaint information will be available from the Jeep internal system. We are not sure if this is an electrical problem. But we reported issues that seemed unrelated up until now whereas a strange smell and electrical malfunctions existed from the moment we purchased the vehicle brand new. It is odd that only select services requiring telecommunications don't work, but they do seem to work to contact Jeep. We mentioned this smell as exhaust or burning smells in the vehicle but were told this is normal essentially and have still not gotten a response from a Technical Team that either doesn't exist or is nor actively addressing the issue. It seems to be electronics involved and UConnect may be tertiary to the issue.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-08
- VIN: 1C4SJVEJ8PS
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: New vehicle with under 4,000 miles was being driven on a busy parkway when the engine suddenly stalled and would not restart. No visible warning lights prior to stall. Incident occurred just past the top of a hill, creating the potential for a rear-end collision. A police officer was called and arrived, parking behind the stalled vehicle with emergency lights flashing in order to prevent a collision. The driver of the vehicle tried repeatedly, 5 or 6 times to use the vehicle's built-in roadside assistance to get help but got disconnected every time before a tow truck could be dispatched. Vehicle was in the middle of the highway for over 20 minutes. Dealer confirmed engine has seized and has to be replaced.
SUSPENSION,WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-10-15
- VIN: 1C4SJSGP6PS
- Components: SUSPENSION,WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: This is a new 2023 Grand Jeep Wagoneer Series III L with an inline six HO engine that seats eight passengers. After about 500 miles or less, we noticed the vehicle shaking at highway speeds. Since it has only worsened, it has been to the dealership four times for a fix, without a solution. They exchanged the Pirelli tires for a Michelin, which did not fix this vibration error. While at highway speeds, everything shakes; the front headrest visibility shakes a lot, and the water in water bottles in the center console has a funnel effect, which clearly shows it’s a vibration issue, not a bumpy road issue, also, while seated, the floorboard and the seats, motorist, and passenger you can noticeably feel the vehicle shaking; at one point, my wife started to feel sick. As a result, now she only rides in the back seat. This ultra-luxury vehicle has an intense vibration issue while at highway speeds; the roads are smooth, and we tested it across three states while doing a family trip; it's clearly something with the engine mounts, suspension, or a drive shaft that is not well balanced. The dealership told us that they could not do anything because they did not know how to fix it as they drove other vehicles, and some shook too, even worse at around 40mph. They stated this is normal for the vehicle. Well, it’s not normal for a vehicle, but it might be for this model because of poor engineering or QA parts issues. Either way, my vehicle is not safe to drive; with this vibration only getting worse, I fear it will cause a serious accident or damage the vehicle, shortening its life span, and at 120k, this should not be the case. We want what we paid for and want this issue fixed ASAP.

Again, 3 weeks later while I was driving home from Sam's club, the power steering light keeps flashing, I had trouble with the wheels i pulled to the side turned off the car for 5 minutes then light went off and I was able to drive again. Few days ago, on October 16th the vehicle electrical system shut off again, none of the buttons inside the vehicle works, the screen went off completely. I was too busy at work that day and did not have time to drop off the vehicle. On Wednesday October 18th after I pick up my daughter from school, the vehicle completely shut off at a Gas station, I decided that vehicle was not safe to drive and decided to drop it to the dealer, as I was leaving the Gas Station nothing works inside the car and we hit a pole at the gas station which severely damaged the front Bumper. We reached out to Jeep and was told to drop the car to the nearest Jeep dealer, and they will fix it. When we got there, they fixed only the electrical problems inside the car but refuse to fix the bumper which was cause by the forward collision avoidance system failure to engage due to the electrical problems. We pick up the car Saturday morning now the automatic break light is on, and the battery keep discharging. We want your firm to please help us as it not safe to drive that vehicle now. We are very afraid and wants jeep to either replace the vehicle with another one or fully refund the purchase price.

This SUV has everything you could possibly need, and more! It boasts phenomenal ride quality, great acceleration, and incredible comfort no matter which seat you're in. Despite its size, it doesn't feel bulky behind the wheel. The handling is great and the front seats are incredibly comfortable. The tech is also fantastic - it's highly customizable and responsive. Plus, the ability to have multiple driver profiles makes it easy for multiple drivers without having to manually reset the seats, pedals, radio settings, and more. And let's not forget about the great sound system!
-
The vehicle is truly spectacular, with a solid and comfortable ride, excellent fit and finish work, and a phenomenal sound system. While the process for purchasing the vehicle was initially complicated by an attempted dealer adjustment fee for the current market, they did agree to remove it and we were able to make the purchase. Although the gas mileage is not great, the numerous options available are impressive. It is disappointing, however, that a vehicle of this cost was delivered without wheel locks. Overall, this is a huge investment for the buyer and it is important to pay attention to even the smallest details.
-
I purchased my Grand Wagoneer in May 2022 and I absolutely love it! The seats are incredibly comfortable, it drives like a dream, and it's packed with amazing features. The only minor issue I've experienced is with the technology - sometimes CarPlay works perfectly, and other times it doesn't seem to function properly. Despite this, I still prefer the Grand Wagoneer over other SUVs like the Tahoe, Escalade, and Denali, which I've also owned in the past.
-
When comparing vehicles, it's important to consider similar models. This particular car is designed for the road and has proven to be a reliable choice, even on beach sand. In fact, during a recent traffic jam, I was able to easily navigate over curbs thanks to the suspension tuning. My Grand Wagoneer trim level three has been a great investment with 13k miles and counting. The sound system is top-notch, surpassing my previous experiences with Mark Levenson, Baumeister, and Bose. The messaging seats are a great feature, and the heated and cooled 60/40 bench seats add to the overall comfort. I highly recommend Security Doge Jeep in Amityville, NY for their excellent service. This lease has been such a positive experience that I plan on buying it out at the end of the term.

My vehicle has spent over 20 days in the shop despite having less than 10,000 miles. Currently, it is in the shop due to electrical problems that have proven difficult to fix. Although two new batteries were installed less than 2 months ago, they are no longer holding a charge, indicating a drain. Despite the lack of assistance from the selling dealership, we have sought help from a second dealership due to the national Wagoneer. It has been in their care for 4 days, but there has been no significant progress towards a solution. Nevertheless, I am impressed with the interior and added features.

Hi there! I noticed that you've been having some trouble with your 2022 Gran Wagoner's screen. That can be frustrating! It sounds like you've had some other issues as well, but the team was able to fix them. However, there was one problem that really concerned you - when you were driving on the highway, all the lights on the dashboard came on and your brakes stopped working. That must have been really scary! The dealership said it was a sensor issue, but it's understandable to worry about it happening again. It's important to feel safe while driving. Let's hope that the issue has been resolved for good. Is there anything else I can help you with?
