Jaguar E-pace problems

The Jaguar E-Pace (X540) is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV (C-segment in Europe) produced by the British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) under their Jaguar marque. It was officially revealed on 13 July 2017 and was the second production Jaguar SUV.
The car is built in Graz, Austria, by Magna Steyr and from 2018 by Chery Jaguar Land Rover, JLR's joint venture with partner Chery, in Changshu, China.
Overview
Designed under the direction of Jaguar chief designer Ian Callum, the vehicle uses the JLR PTA platform, as used by the second incarnation of Range Rover Evoque and the second incarnation of Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The car has a transverse front engine and is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.
Stunt driver Terry Grant performed a world record barrel roll jump in the car for the reveal which took place at the London ExCel centre. The car did a 270 degree barrel roll and travelled 50 feet (15.3 metres) through the air.

Common Jaguar E-pace problems
The Jaguar E-Pace, a compact luxury SUV, has been reported by owners to have several common problems. These issues range from minor inconveniences to more serious concerns that can affect the safety and reliability of the vehicle.
One of the most frequently reported problems is the Engine Transmission Alert coming on and not turning off. This issue is often attributed to emissions problems, and while some owners have attempted to resolve it by checking their gas caps or filling up their tanks, these solutions have not been successful. The cause and solution for this problem remain unclear, with some owners expressing frustration at the lack of a clear response from Jaguar.
Another significant issue reported by E-Pace owners is the engine losing power during both city and highway driving. This problem can be particularly dangerous, as it can make it difficult to accelerate and maintain a safe speed, especially on busy freeways. Jaguar's suggested solution of taking the car to the dealer and attempting to replicate the problem has been met with skepticism by some owners, who are unwilling to risk their safety for an issue that Jaguar is already aware of.
In addition to these more serious issues, E-Pace owners have reported a range of other problems. These include loose bolts in the inner door pocket, issues with Apple CarPlay, touch unlock on the outer door not working consistently, and the front 12V power on the dash not turning off with the vehicle.
Another common problem with the E-Pace is related to the timing chain on the 2.0L diesel Ingenium engine, which is used across the Jaguar Land Rover range. Over time, the timing chains can stretch, leading to irreparable engine failure if not replaced. Jaguar introduced an upgraded design chain in November 2019 that eliminates this problem, but older models may still be at risk.
The EU6 exhaust system used on 2.0 diesel XE models also causes issues with the E-Pace, as the bulkhead gets in the way and requires a longer exhaust that runs around the bodywork obstruction
What is the problem with the Jaguar E-pace?
The E-Pace has had a number of reported issues; panel fit and paint defects, AdBlue fluid leaking from hoses and filler caps, air breather pipes rubbing on engine components, creaking rear suspension and glitches with the infotainment system.
Is the Jaguar E-Pace reliable?
Reliability and problems
The Jaguar E-Pace comes with a three-year/unlimited-mileage warranty, however, Jaguar often underperforms in owner satisfaction surveys. The E-Pace has been recalled for numerous reasons relating to areas like its brakes, fuel system, lights and engine emissions.
How many miles can a Jaguar E-Pace last?
37 miles
The battery in a Jaguar electric hybrid is able to deliver up to 60km/37 miles (Jaguar E‑PACE)1 and up to 65km/40 miles (Jaguar F‑PACE)1 of range from a single charge. This makes it perfect for daily commutes and driving around town with zero tailpipe emissions when in Full Electric Vehicle (EV) mode.
Is Jaguar discontinuing the E-Pace?
This will involve killing off its current lineup while also shifting towards higher-cost vehicles. This means that the gas-powered XF sedan and E-Pace and F-Pace crossovers will cease production later this year (the F-type sports car already had its swan song for the 2024 model year).

Vehicle year: 2018
Pros: This SUV has stunning looks and style, and is well laid out with a comfortable sporty cockpit. It has good driver visibility, brilliant performance technology, great features, and a smooth shifting nine-speed transmission. The vehicle is quite nimble with precise steering, super stable braking, and great cornering & windy conditions stability. It also has an excellent surround camera system and brilliant adaptive cruise control, as well as unbelievable self parking. The interior fit and finish is good, and it has great storage capability considering its size. Cons: The vehicle is a little expensive and has a feathery overly sensitive accelerator (spurts), as well as a 1 second transmission kick down delay. The touchscreen display can be washed out and the metalized windshield blocks radio frequencies. There are a few other minor issues listed under “Details of Issues”. Overall: This vehicle is well suited to city driving and equally at home in the country, but may not be the best choice for long distance trips. It is best suited to a family of four or less (children and smaller bodies in the rear). The 21 inch wheels provide a great ride in “Comfort” & “Dynamic” modes, better than the smaller offerings. The brakes are excellent and feel stable under hard braking. The vehicle has an “ECO” mode to improve fuel consumption, and there are 6 different models and a plethora of options to suit most needs. It also has all the latest safety features and collision avoidance. The top model could do with a more powerful motor, but overall it is miles better than the competition. Bottom Line: If you want the best looking, best handling compact SUV in the world, your search stops here. The Toll Tag clear patch seems to be too small, which has resulted in a reduced range of wireless devices by up to 95%. This includes door and gate openers, phones, RFID, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, radar detectors, and medical alerts. Additionally, the throttle pedal is overly sensitive and lacks foot feel, which can cause unwanted acceleration spurts on bumpy roads or sharp corners. However, the adaptive cruise control is excellent. The touchscreen can be difficult to see in bright daylight and sunny conditions due to its angled position ahead of the roofline and lack of sunshade. The windshield is metalized to block UV rays, but it also reduces visible light, affecting night vision. Road noise is noticeable, but it could be improved with better floor and wheel arch insulation. The automatic relocking and arming feature can only be turned on or off by the dealership, which can be inconvenient in the country. Lastly, there is no visible external indicator that the doors are locked, except for the folding door mirrors, which can be difficult to see or hear in noisy and bright light situations.Automatic Power Fold Door Mirrors are a useful option, but it can only be turned on and off by the dealership. Keyless Door Locking can be overly complicated and imprecise, although unlocking is great. The manual goes into detail not to grab the door handle while touching the lock sensor. In reality, it is only necessary to be lightly touching the handle for the sensor not to work, or if your finger touches a little outside of the sensor area. One could turn on the auto locking full time, but that causes other irritating convenience issues. The Restricted Driver’s Foot Well is not a good place to put your left foot if you have long legs, as the wheel well intrudes into this space. There are also reflections in the driver’s side mirror from bright shiny driver’s side air vent bezel, as well as from bright shiny bezels (air vents and display) on the front windshield. The Driver’s Maximum Seat Height is also an issue, as the front dash and side window sills are quite high. However, after 4.5 years, the vehicle is still performing very well with no failures and no visits to the dealership, except for 4 new tires. The battery in the key fob has had to be replaced three times, but that is the only issue. After 6 years, the vehicle is still performing well, with another set of tires being the only major expense due to the soft tires meeting the latest rash of chip-seal roads that just tear up the tires. Fortunately, the government is saving money on road repair. The metalized windshield is still the most annoying aspect of the vehicle. The vehicle has never been to the dealership for repair or maintenance, and it has never broken down or required anything other than an oil change and a new battery. I am not planning on buying a new vehicle since they have become computerized nightmares, spying on their owners. EVs are just now ready for primetime, no matter how much the government tries to ram them down our throats.

This includes door and gate openers, phones, RFID, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, radar detectors, and medical alerts. The throttle pedal is feather-light and overly sensitive, which can cause unwanted acceleration spurts (jerking) on bumpy roads, sharp corners, or during acceleration. Additionally, it feels unnatural and a little uncomfortable to hold your foot up all the time when cruising. However, the car has excellent adaptive cruise control. The touchscreen can be difficult to see in bright daylight and barely visible in bright sunny conditions. This is because the display sits angled almost flat well ahead of the roofline, and there is no sunshade, so the sun shines right on it. The windshield is metalized to block UV rays, which it does well, but it also reduces visible light, reducing normal vision, just like sunglasses or regular window tint does. The road (tire) noise is noticeable and could benefit from improved floor and wheel arch insulation. The dealership is the only one who can turn on or off the automatic relocking and arming feature. While this feature is useful in high crime areas, it can be annoying and inconvenient in the country. There should be an easy way to turn the feature on and off. I've always wanted a sharp, sporty mid-sized luxury SUV. After months of research, reading reviews, and looking through automobile magazines, I test drove the brand-new Jaguar E-Pace, First Edition. This was in 2018, and after almost 60 thousand miles, I can tell you that Jaguar hit a home run when they designed and built this SUV. The E-Pace has plenty of power, a beautiful, well-designed interior, and rides like a dream. My wife loves this vehicle so much that she drives it to work, and I am stuck with her Lexus. Although we have had multiple mechanical problems with the E-Pace, the service center has always taken good care of us. They provided us with a loaner vehicle, and once, they even delivered our E-Pace to our home. While I wasn't thrilled about the issues we had at the beginning of our purchase, I'm happy to say that they are now years behind us, and I can't wait to jump in the driver's seat and start another long, worry-free road trip.

I've only had this car for a short time, but so far I haven't had any problems. It's really fun to drive, and even with the smaller turbo engine, it has plenty of pickup from the start. Merging into highway traffic is a breeze. I'm driving the S trim with lots of added options, and the leather seats are super comfortable. Even the S trim has lots of standard options, but I'd recommend upgrading to the Meridian sound system. My model has park assist, but it's a bit more difficult to use than the park assist on my previous Mercedes. There's enough room in the back seats for two adults, even when the front seats are pushed back a bit. The storage space is smaller than my wife's Audi Q5, but with the back seats down, there's plenty of room for shopping at Costco and spending more than I need to! The interior trim isn't as fancy as some other luxury SUVs, but the reason to buy this car is the way it handles - especially the steering and acceleration. The warranty and service maintenance are included with the price of the car for 5 years or 50,000 miles. The only option for this car is a fixed glass roof with a sunshade, but I've never really used the roof on cars I've owned that had that functionality. I test drove several other SUV models before deciding on the E-Pace, but this one sold me because of the way it drove and the number of standard options included, which are usually extra on other models. Also, the current lease deals are virtually at 0% interest rate. There's virtually no wind noise on the highway. After I drive this car for a few thousand miles, I'll update this review.

You and your wife have owned several SUVs over the years and it's great to hear that you really love this one. The vehicle is not only fun to drive, but also has excellent handling and braking, which stops on a dime. It's impressive that you have the nearly 300 horsepower turbocharged 4 cylinder model, which is very quick. The safety features are also top-notch, with automatic braking that can stop the vehicle for you if you happen to miss seeing a pedestrian or biker. The heated windshield, seats, and steering wheel will definitely come in handy during the winter. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

Although I am disappointed with my first luxury car, I have learned a valuable lesson about researching reviews before making a purchase. Unfortunately, my vehicle has required multiple repairs, including a brake job and alignment, despite only having 12000 miles. However, I am confident that these issues will be resolved and I am hopeful for a better experience in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Jaguar's E-Pace has some serious issues that need to be addressed. The engine power loss and limp home mode are well-known defects that Jaguar has attempted to fix with a software patch. However, this patch has caused further issues with the start/stop function and the synchronization between the engine and transmission. The lack of Apple or Android connectivity and poor voice recognition are also major drawbacks. It is important for Jaguar to take responsibility for these issues and work towards a solution that will satisfy their customers. Potential buyers should be aware of these problems before making a purchase decision.

I had a really bad experience with my Jaguar and unfortunately had to win a lawsuit to get rid of it. Despite owning 7 luxury cars prior to this one, it was by far the worst. I was initially drawn to it because it was not mass-produced and had great attention to detail, but unfortunately it spent more time in the shop than on the road. The car had many issues, including not starting even after multiple trips to the shop. It was frustrating to deal with, especially since the dealership no longer offered the valet service that I was promised. As a self-employed individual, it was difficult to maintain my reputation when I was constantly late for appointments due to car failures. Despite these issues, I am still hopeful that Jaguar will improve their product and customer service in the future. Thank you for listening to my experience.

I purchased this car based on its captivating appearance, without reading any reviews. Although there have been some issues, such as the engine fan sound resembling a Moulinex juicer, wrinkling of the leather seats, and the need for a transmission replacement, the gear kicks on acceleration and deceleration are better than Roberto Carlos. Additionally, the air conditioning fan changes speed on its own. Despite some challenges with customer service and mechanics, I am confident that these issues can be resolved with the right expertise and attention.

My local Jaguar Land Rover dealership is currently working on my 2012 Land Rover LR4 and they have provided me with a loaner for about 5 days. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the loaner they gave me. While I understand that looks are not everything, I find it hard to ignore the fact that it reminds me of a small Ford Taurus, which is not my cup of tea. However, I am grateful for the loaner and understand that it is only temporary. The ride is not as smooth as I would like it to be, and I find myself feeling a bit like I'm on a bumpy ride. The interior is also a bit dull, but it gets the job done. There are some features that I find unnecessary, such as the lights that show a circle and jaguar when you open the door at night, and the complicated gear system. However, I appreciate the effort put into the electronics, even though I prefer a more traditional driving experience. I am 5'10
