- Summary: The ‘Air Bag’ light stays on at all times. Its been like this for over 10 years. I’ve called my local Infiniti dealer, they said they cannot replace the Takata airbag until NHTSA identifies this model in a national recall. I’m afraid the airbag may not properly deploy or deploy inadvertently, and cause serious injury or death of driver or occupants. Please do the right thing and add the 1999 Infiniti I-30 to recall list. Thanks

- Summary: In the last 2 months I have had the front passenger tire blow out 3 times. After this last tire repair the car started to shake, vibrate and make a knocking noise while driving. When driving faster the steering wheel would jerk me almost offthe road. It was so bad I pulled over and when I looked at the front passenger tire it was smoking and sitting sideways. I had to get my vehicle towed and now I have no way to work. I have included an estimate of the repairs as well as a written warranty that was given to the previous owner. I was told this was no longer valid since I am not the original owner of the vehicle. The way the steering jerked and how the tire went sideways I feel that is a safety issue.

- Summary: TL* TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND OWNED A 2001 INFINITI I30. THEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE CAR AT 40 MPH ENGINE BEGIN WILDLY REVVING THE RPMS WENT DIRECTLY HOME AND IN PARK IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. TURNED IT OFF CALLED A TOW TRUCK HAD IT TOWED IN TO LOCAL SHOP. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING A P0505 CODE. THE SHOP REPLACED THE IACM AND THEN THE ECU AT A COST OF OVER CAR WAS RETURNED SAME CODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE MECHANIC SAID IT WOULD NOT RELEARN IDLE AND TO DRIVE IT AROUND AND SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. I AM AN ELDERLY WOMAN AND I SPEND THE NEXT FEW DAYS RIDING THE BRAKE TO KEEP THE CAR IN CONTROL. IDLE WAS RUNNING HIGH IN PARK AND DRIVE. I WAS BECOMING AFRAID OF THE CAR AND DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE INFINITI DEALER FOR REPAIRS. WITH SAME P0505 CODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IN LESS THEN SEVEN DAYS THE IACM AND ECU ONCE AGAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THAT'S BECAUSE THE MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED AND SINCE THEY ARE FLUID FILLED THEY LEAKED CAUSING THE OTHER PARTS TO SHORT OUT. THE INFINITI DEALER SAID THE THREE PARTS ARE ALL ON THE SAME CIRCUIT BUT THIS IS ONLY KNOWN TO INFINITI MECHANICS. THE REPAIR IS NOW OVER $3000.00 PUS THE FIRST CHARGE. THIS IS WAY MORE THEN MY CAR VALUE. I RESEARCHED THIS CONDITION ON THE INTERNET. KIDS HAVE BEEN DRIVING THESE CARS WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS AT 80 MPH WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE. I NEVER WRITE ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET BUT I AM CONCERNED THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE A CRASH AND SOMEONE MAY BE SERIOUSLY HURT. CAR HAS 110000. The vehicles are equipped with non-desiccated, frontal passenger air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant that were used as interim remedy parts for previous Takata recalls. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflators with alternate desiccated inflators, free of charge. The recall began February 12, 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 888-737-9511 or Infiniti customer service at 888-810-3715.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience as the original owner of this 97' I-30. I have to say, not only was the car a great performer, but the Infinity experience was also excellent. After driving this automobile for 147,000 miles, I can highly recommend it. It's been as reliable as any car I've ever owned. Overall, a very good automobile!

I've been lucky enough to own not one, but two Infiniti i30 sedans. The first was a 1997 i30t, which I purchased for $7000 cash in 2004 with 80,000 miles on the clock. My wife and I drove it all the way to 175,000 miles in 2010, and the only thing we ever had to replace was the starter! The second was a 98 i30 base model that I bought for $4200 cash in 2007 with 105,000 miles on it. I've traveled a lot with it and taken it to 160,000 miles, and I'm still driving it now. We sold the 97 earlier this year, but I'm still driving the 98 at 161,000 miles. It's amazing that the only thing I've had to replace on it was a measly starter! Both cars have run perfectly from day one to the last day I drove them, which was earlier today. In my opinion, these are some of the best and most reliable cars ever made.

Make sure you get a good one. I got my Infiniti 2000 I30 at 185000 miles on it. The seller said he just put in a new alternator or starter, but as soon as I drove it home, it started smoking!! I found out there was a power steering leak. The mechanic put in one new power steering hose, but it began to leak on the way home again. So, I replaced the other part of the power steering hose (the longer hose) and also the caliper on the passenger side, which had frozen up. Now that everything is fixed, it rides so nicely. I don't know what others are talking about with making turns because I can whip my turns in this car. It feels great when driving and I have faith that I will get my money's worth or more. I absolutely love my Infiniti!

I bought the car used with 115k. Here are my driving impressions: In the city, the car has a huge turn radius and poor rear visibility, which makes it hard to park. Additionally, the car's mpg is not great, only 14/city. However, the car's performance is okay for 230hp. Coming from a 97 528i, I noticed that some minor features are missing, and the interior quality is not as great. Unfortunately, the HID lights are all fogged out by now and barely illuminate the road. On the bright side, over 2 years, I only had a few issues: I replaced the ECU and defective idle control valve ($500), power steering hose ($300). The oxygen sensor fault popped up once in a while, but I replaced the spark plugs, and now it's gone (at least for now). We purchased the I30 New and have experienced minor issues occasionally. However, these are common problems that can be easily fixed, such as replacing coils, oxygen sensors, and alignment. The I30 is a thrilling car to drive, with an average of 23 MPG and plenty of power. Even after 10 years, it still maintains its stylish appearance.

The car was purchased new and all services were done at the dealer. However, within a short period of time, the car began to experience multiple issues such as power seat malfunction, alternator failure, SES light, new brakes at 55K, transmission slip, and engine ping. Despite spending over $4000 on repairs in just two years, the car still had issues such as bad brake calipers at 60K. Although the customer was interested in the new G35, they are doubtful about purchasing another Infiniti.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with this car that I purchased used with 53,000 miles. After a year, I now have 75,000 miles on it and I must say, it drives very well! It's especially great on the highway, which is what I think it was made for. The pickup is decent too. I love the classy looks of this car, especially considering its age and price. The interior is comfortable and decent. Most importantly, it has been very reliable and I don't foresee any problems in the near future. However, I did have a minor issue with the check engine light coming on after a month due to the Mass air flow sensor. This caused the car to lag in acceleration after starting it up when cold, but if you let it run for a minute it does not cause any problems. Overall, I think it's worth a small amount and it's just as good as a Ford or Chevy. Thanks for reading!

I purchased the I30t with 47K miles 2 1/2 years ago and was very pleased with it until about a year ago (100K). Since then, it has cost me about $3K, with the latest expense being the ignition coils ($1K). Additionally, it has developed rattles and a strange metallic clunking in the right rear on uneven pavement (which the dealer has been unable to locate). Although I still appreciate the ride and power, I am beginning to question whether I would be better off with something that gets better gas mileage and uses 87 octane, especially considering the $3000 a year in maintenance and the squeaks, rattles, and clunks.

I noticed that many of you rated the 2001 I30 a 10. However, as an owner of one myself, I have to disagree. After just a 45-minute drive, my behind is killing me and there is too much wind noise. Maybe some of you upgraded from a Cavalier! :)

I was given this car, but unfortunately it has had some issues from the start. As a student, I cannot afford the expensive repairs that it needs, and it seems like every time I fix one thing, something else goes wrong. However, I do appreciate the car's power and speed, and it even held up well when I hit a pole. Overall, I wish the car had been in better condition when I received it, but I am grateful for what it can do.
