The Infiniti G Line is a series of compact executive cars manufactured and marketed by Infiniti, a luxury division of Nissan, for the 1991–1996 and 1999–2016 model years — across four generations.
The first two generations of the Infiniti G (P10 and P11) were sedans based on the Nissan Primera. Beginning with its third generation (V35), the Infiniti G have been rebadged versions of the Nissan Skyline line of sedans and coupes that were exported to the United States and Canada. The fourth generation (V36) introduced the hardtop coupe convertible. The Nissan FM platform, used with the third and fourth generations (V35 and V36) of the Infiniti G, also underpins the Nissan 370Z and has shared components with the Infiniti M, Infiniti EX, and Infiniti FX.
Infiniti established a new naming convention beginning with the 2014 model year; all passenger cars are designated by the letter "Q," while sport-utility model names begin with "QX." The Infiniti G was to have been replaced by the Infiniti Q50, but the G37 was revived as the Q40 beginning with the 2015 model year.

- Summary: Runaway acceleration. Three times now in the last two weeks the RPMs went to maximum redline without my foot on the accelerator pedal. Fortunately all occurred when I was at very slow speed and either in a driveway or a parking lot. Each time I immediately put the transmission to neutral and shut off the engine. For the first occurrence, Restarting the engine all went back to normal. But for the second instance, two weeks later on restart the engine again instantly went to maximum RPM (deep redline). On a second restart, with additional delay before attempting a restart, the problem cleared. I took the car to a mechanic and they said no error diagnostics were recorded. On test drive he said he noticed some brief unexpected surges. He said for liability reasons no way he would work on the car. No warnings, no instrument indications, car does not seem to "know" throttle is at max redline.

When driving on highway, the engine stops running, the car loses all power, and it is very difficult to restart the car. I had the car inspected and the local mechanic stated the crankshaft sensor/ camshaft censor is not working properly and he believed this was on recall, but Infiniti stated that my car is not covered. This is extremely dangerous - call stalls in the middle of the road with no power at all.

The rusting that occurs definitely impacts the structural integrity of the part and it can very well be a safety issue and a fatality waiting to occur .
