The Chevrolet S-10 is a compact pickup truck produced by Chevrolet. It was the first domestically-built compact pickup of the big three American automakers. When it was first introduced as a "quarter-ton pickup" in 1981 for the 1982 model year, the GMC version was known as the S-15 and later renamed the GMC Sonoma. A high-performance version of the latter was released in 1991, called "Syclone." The pickup was also sold by Isuzu as the Hombre from 1996 through 2000, but only in North America. There was also an SUV version, the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer/GMC S-15 Jimmy. An electric version was leased as a fleet vehicle in 1997 and 1998. These models are sometimes internally referred to as the S/T series to denote two and four wheel drive models respectively (similar to the full size Chevrolet C/K trucks) despite all versions being badged with 'S' nomenclature.

In North America, the S-series was replaced by the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Isuzu i-Series in 2004.

The S-Series ended production in Brazil in 2012, being replaced by the Chevrolet Colorado, but still with the name S-10.

Common 1995 Gmc S15 problems

The 1995 GMC Sonoma, also known as the S-15, has been reported to have a variety of issues and complaints by owners. Some of the most common problems include:

  • Transmission Problems: Many owners have reported issues with the transmission, including difficulty shifting gears and a complete failure of the transmission system. These issues can be caused by a faulty powertrain control module (PCM), which is the car's primary computer system.
  • Power Loss: Some owners have reported a loss of power while driving, particularly when shifting from second to third gear. This can be caused by a variety of issues, including a faulty transmission, a bad clutch, or a problem with the fuel system.
  • Battery Issues: Several owners have reported issues with the battery, including corrosion and a failure to hold a charge. These issues can be caused by a faulty battery or a problem with the wiring system, including crossed wires during assembly.
  • Door Seal Problems: Many owners have reported issues with the door seals, particularly in cold weather. This can cause the door to freeze shut and prevent it from opening. This is a common problem in GM vehicles and is not specific to the S-15.
  • Interior Problems: Some owners have reported issues with the interior of the car, including a ripped passenger seat and a faulty heater. These issues can be caused by wear and tear or a faulty heating system.
  • ABS Light On: Some owners have reported that the ABS light is on, indicating a problem with the anti-lock braking system. This can be caused by a variety of issues, including a faulty speed sensor or low brake fluid.

These are just a few of the most common problems reported by owners of the 1995 GMC Sonoma. It is important to note that not all vehicles of this make and model will experience these issues, and some problems may be more common in certain regions or under certain driving conditions. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is recommended that you take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic for diagnosis and repair.
