2000 Dodge Ram wagon problems
The Dodge Ram Van (also known as the Dodge B-series) is a range of full-size vans that were produced by Chrysler Corporation from the 1971 to 2003 model years. Replacing the Dodge A100, the Ram Van transitioned to a front-engine drivetrain configuration. Mostly offered as a cargo van and a passenger van, the model line was also initially offered as a cutaway van chassis.
The B-series van line was produced across 32 years of production, making it among the longest-lived platform designs in American automotive history. Much of the exterior and chassis underpinnings saw only gradual changes during their entire production, with three distinct generations developed. Alongside its use by Dodge, the full-size van range saw rebranding during the 1970s for both Fargo Trucks and Plymouth (marking the debut of the Plymouth Voyager nameplate).
For much of its entire production run, Chrysler produced B-platform vans at the now-demolished Pillette Road Truck Assembly plant in Windsor, Ontario, Canada; prior to 1980, the model line was also produced at Saint Louis North Assembly (Fenton, Missouri). In 2003, the Dodge Sprinter (a rebranding of its Mercedes-Benz namesake) was introduced, replacing the B-series van entirely from 2004 to 2009. Since 2014, the Ram division has offered the ProMaster to the full-size van market, a rebranded Fiat Ducato.

Common 2000 Dodge Ram wagon problems
The 2000 Dodge Ram Wagon has been reported to have a variety of issues, with transmission problems being one of the most common. The 42RE transmission is particularly prone to having snap rings break, which can result in the loss of reverse and overdrive.
Another issue that has been reported with the 2000 Dodge Ram Wagon is electrical jacketing deterioration. This problem can be addressed by pulling the electrical jacketing and re-wrapping it, which can prevent further issues for several hundred thousand miles.
The tail light housings are also prone to issues, with the contacts deteriorating over time. However, this issue can be addressed by cleaning the contacts and resealing the edges, which can prevent further problems for a significant period of time.
In addition to these issues, the 2000 Dodge Ram Wagon has been reported to have fuel efficiency issues, with older small block Dodges being particularly poor on fuel, even in tip-top shape.
While these issues can be significant, many owners have reported that with regular maintenance and repairs, the 2000 Dodge Ram Wagon can be a reliable and capable vehicle. However, it is important to note that the reliability of any vehicle, particularly one that is nearly 20 years old, is heavily dependent on maintenance and upkeep.

Your van sounds like it has been a reliable and comfortable mode of transportation for your family over the past ten years. I am so relieved to hear that your wife and child were able to walk away from a serious accident without any injuries. It's great to know that Dodge has done an excellent job in designing a safe vehicle that has served your family well. Although it is unfortunate that the cost of repairs outweighs the value of the van, I am glad that your family was not in a smaller or less safe vehicle. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

This vehicle has been very reliable from the start. It has plenty of power and I have even towed a heavy pop-up camper at 95mph in Montana. I am able to tow it at highway speed and keep up with any traffic. I take care of all maintenance and most repairs myself, fixing things before they break. I have replaced the fuel pump at 123000, as well as the water pump, alternator, and starter just in case. Although I thought the transmission was gone, it turned out to be just a blown hose. It uses about one quart of oil in 3000 miles. However, the power door locks are not very reliable and there is some wind noise due to a windshield leak.

We purchased this van for our family of six, including two adults and four teenagers who needed plenty of legroom. Even our dogs could fit comfortably with no problem. It's been so comfortable that we've found it difficult to consider upgrading. The only issue we've had is with the catalytic converter, which has needed to be replaced more than three times since we bought it. However, everything else has been great. Unfortunately, they no longer make this vehicle, but we still receive a lot of positive comments from the public.

This has been an amazing vehicle for me! It's a van conversion and the quality is absolutely superior. Mechanically, we haven't had any major repairs. This vehicle pulls my 3-horse slant all over town with pretty good performance. The gas mileage is between 12-15 mpg, and I've even had it as high as 20 mpg driving cross country.

This is my second Dodge family van. The first one we had was a 1980 model, 250 3/4 ton, which we kept for 10 years. It never let us down and was exceptionally useful, with good gas mileage, although it was prone to body rust. The 1996 SLT (Luxury) 2500 model 3/4 ton has a firm, good handling suspension (the 1500 1/2 is too soft and wallows), a 5.2L Magnum V8 which is AWESOME, a 4-speed Torqueflite transmission, and a 3.55 ratio HD rear axle. It has an average fuel economy of 15.6 miles per gallon over 50,000 miles. It's a roomy, good-looking vehicle that's easy to drive with great visibility. We've had no mechanical or electrical problems, and it's easy to service. Best of all, there's no rust. We've even taken it on many 24-hour trips from Massachusetts to Florida!

This vehicle served well for our family van before being totalled in a wreck last week. However, it had some issues on the inside, especially with the front seats and the main sliding door. Dodge could improve the quality of their work inside this vehicle. On the bright side, the A/C was excellent, the engine was strong, and the suspension could use a little improvement.

We replaced our 97 8 passenger B2500 with the 99 model. Although there were some aspects of the 97 that I preferred, overall the 99 is superior. It has lots of power and comfortable seating for my wife, 7 kids and me. It also came well-equipped from the factory. Unfortunately, we only get 12 MPG :-( but that's to be expected with the 5.9. I wish we had the limited slip for pulling the snowmobile trailer. The only real issue we've had is with bad ball joints early on, and a rare, intermittent engine ignition cut-out that the dealer can't diagnose.

This is a really great vehicle! It drives smoothly on highways and is incredibly reliable. The engine is powerful and efficient. The only downside is that it has poor gas mileage, but overall it's an excellent choice.

You may find that you need to spend a considerable amount of time getting it repaired. The brakes may not last as long as you would like, and the electrical system may cause some trouble. Additionally, it may consume more gas than you would prefer, and the drive train can be a headache. This is actually the second one I've had, and unfortunately, it will be the last. I thought that maybe the first one was a lemon, so I gave it a second chance. While Dodge may be less expensive than other makes, it's important to remember that you get what you pay for!

The van gets 13 miles per gallon on the highway, which is not great, but it is a full conversion van. It seems to rattle a bit and the doors require a firm slam to close. Additionally, there is a constant clunking in the front that the dealer claims is normal (although I have my doubts).
