The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured and marketed by Stellantis North America and its predecessor companies as a four-door sedan and station wagon in its first generation (model years 2005–2010) and solely as a four-door sedan in its second generation (model years 2011–2023).

The second generation 300 was marketed as the Chrysler 300C in the United Kingdom and Ireland and as the Lancia Thema in the remainder of Europe.

Background

The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.

When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

Common 2008 Chrysler 300 awd problems

The Chrysler 300 AWD 2008 is known for several common problems that owners have reported. One of the most prevalent issues is electrical system faults, which have been reported in some 2013 Chrysler 300s. These electrical system issues can cause power loss while driving and electrical system failure, leading to three crashes and 15 fires.

Another significant problem is related to airbags and the driver-side inflator modules. Several recalls were issued in 2015 and 2016 for numerous 2005-2010 Chrysler models. The frontal and/or passenger air bags installed in the affected units may be prone to moisture, causing the material to rupture easily. The inflators could rupture during a crash and cause severe injuries. To solve the issue, dealers replaced the faulty parts free of charge.

The HVAC system of some Chrysler 300 units from the 2005-2009, 2012, 2013, and 2016 model years may develop and emit a musty odor. This issue can be resolved by applying a cleaner or disinfectant to inhibit bacterial growth. Dodge also issued a coating for the evaporator to fix the problem.

Some Chrysler 300 units from the 2004-2016 model years have experienced rough shifting and/or shuddering when shifting gears. According to RepairPal, software updates on the powertrain control and transmission control module can potentially solve the issue.

Additionally, some Chrysler 300 models have received complaints about jarring noises coming from the engine and oil consumption issues. Plus, blown engines are also a concern since it can happen before hitting 100k miles.

Lastly, some Chrysler 300 units have experienced problems with the power windows, with the window motor or the window regulator cable being the most common issues.

In summary, the Chrysler 300 AWD 2008 has several common problems, including electrical system faults, airbag issues, HVAC system odor, rough shifting, engine troubles, and power window malfunction. However, it is still considered a dependable luxury car with a good safety reputation.
