Common Toyota Bz4x problems

The Toyota bZ4X, Toyota's first mass-market EV, has been noted for several issues based on owner complaints. One common problem is the lack of a true one-pedal driving experience, as the increased regen button doesn't provide an aggressive enough regen to bring the car to a complete stop. This can be frustrating for those who prefer a more seamless driving experience.

Another issue is related to the infotainment system, which has been reported to have problems such as volume controls ceasing to work and the infotainment system crashing mid-drive. These issues can be particularly inconvenient, as they affect the driver's ability to control the car's audio and navigation systems.

Additionally, there have been reports of issues with the rear wiper, with some drivers finding that it doesn't effectively clear water from the rear windshield, particularly in stop-and-go traffic. This can be a safety concern, as it can impair the driver's ability to see behind the car.

There have also been recalls related to the bZ4X, including a programming issue that can prevent warning messages from being shown and a problem that can cause the car's emergency call function to become unavailable. These issues can affect the car's safety and reliability, and should be addressed by Toyota dealers.

Overall, while the Toyota bZ4X is a promising EV, it has been plagued by several issues that can affect the driving experience and safety of the car. Toyota will need to address these issues in order to ensure that the bZ4X is a reliable and satisfying choice for EV buyers.

What's wrong with bZ4X?

As of writing, the bZ4X has a couple of recalls to its name: one is a programming issue that might stop warning messages from being shown, while the other can cause the car's emergency call function to become unavailable.

What are the disadvantages of the bZ4X?

The main drawback with the bZ4X is its stingy range. Being able to cover just 175-180 miles on average (mostly in cold conditions) between charges was pretty disappointing; the Kia EV6 I ran a couple of years ago could go a full 100 miles (or more) farther between charges.

How long will bZ4X last?

How long is bZ4X's battery designed to last? * The Electric Vehicle Drive Components Warranty (transaxle, traction battery, inverter with converter) is in effect for 8 years or 100,000 miles from the new vehicle purchase/lease date, whichever comes first.

How much does it cost to replace the battery in a Toyota bZ4X?

How much to replace the battery in my Toyota? Depending on power, size, and quality, prices for a replacement car battery range from about $45 to $250.

    Vehicle year: 2023

The Bz4X is a beautiful car that drives well. However, it may not be the best option for long trips or highways, as the battery drains faster than expected when driving over 65 mph. Additionally, the charging time is not as fast as it should be, which can create inconvenience for the driver. According to some users, the car has caused some problems. In my opinion, it may not be worth the price. The vehicle is priced at around 12 to 15,000 dollars at most. Toyota may need to re-evaluate the car and consider recalling it to compensate the owners for the inconvenience caused.

The car handles very well and has better acceleration than most gas-powered cars. It's also reasonably quiet. As a Toyota enthusiast, I found the interior and electronics to be quite familiar. However, there are a few areas that could be improved. When charging at home, I consistently get close to 7kW, but fast charging is limited to 30kW, which means a full charge can take hours. The range is also a bit disappointing. During the summer, I get 2.6-2.6 M/kWh or 160-170 miles range with the AWD Limited version, and I've never been above 3 M/kWh while mostly driving on the highway. Another issue is the lack of charge planning in the car itself, which requires the use of a phone or pad to find a charger. I'm a bit concerned about my winter range, as I have a 55-mile one-way commute each day. However, I'm confident that it will still be okay unless it's in the teens outside. Overall, the car is a great choice, but the range could be improved.

This is the first run for this car and it has room for improvement. Currently, it may feel a bit clunky and has a battery setup that appears to be less expensive.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my vehicle. I live in Colorado and have been enjoying my Toyota for 3 months now. Recently, I noticed that when the temperature dropped to 25 degrees, I received 30% less range/miles on a 100% charge. I was a bit surprised by this and reached out to Toyota and their dealerships for more information. While I was disappointed that this wasn't something they were upfront about, they have been helpful in the buy-back process. I'm looking forward to finding a vehicle that meets my needs and expectations. According to the specifications, the vehicle is supposed to provide 228 miles of range on a full charge at 100%.

The SUV is a joy to drive, with quick acceleration and a smooth ride. While some EVs can go from 0-60 in just a few seconds, this can be impractical and cause unnecessary wear and tear on the vehicle. In day-to-day driving, such acceleration is rarely needed outside of a race track. Additionally, the car is impressively quiet and home charging is convenient. Overall, I highly recommend this reliable Toyota to anyone. I encourage you to take it for a test drive and see for yourself - you could save a lot of money!

I've been driving this car for a month and I'm really happy with it. Although I've only used it in the city and haven't taken it out of town yet, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. It's a very comfortable car with lots of great features, and even though I've test-driven a Tesla a few times, I'm still very happy with my decision.

I purchased a BZ4X because of Toyota's reputation for reliability and I have not been disappointed. In the last 4 months, covering 9000 miles, it has performed admirably and has only been in the shop for a tire rotation. I don't think I can ever go back to an Internal Combustion Engine. The BZ4X is quick, clean, and quiet. I drive it to work every day and plug it in when I get home. It charges overnight and is ready to go again the next morning thanks to a level 2 home charger. As a true owner (5 months), I can say that I absolutely love it. Thank you, Toyota!
