Mercedes-benz Amg g63 problems
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen) is a four-wheel drive automobile manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Austria and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.
The G-Wagen is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few passenger car vehicles to have such a feature.
Despite the introduction of an intended replacement, the unibody SUV Mercedes-Benz GL-Class in 2006, the G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest-produced vehicles in Daimler's history, with a span of 44 years. Only the Unimog surpasses it. In 2018, Mercedes-Benz introduced the second-generation W463 with heavily revised chassis, powertrain, body, and interior. In 2023, Mercedes-Benz announced plans to launch a smaller version of the G-Class, named "little G"—though no definitive date was given for the launch.
The 400,000th unit was built on 4 December 2020.
The success of second-generation W463 led to the 500,000th unit milestone three years later in April 2023. The 500,000th model was a special one-off model with agave green paintwork, black front end, and amber turn signal indicators in tribute to the iconic 1979 press release photo of jumping W460 240 GD.

Common Mercedes-benz Amg g63 problems
Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 owners have reported several common problems, including issues with the wiring harness, fuel tank, and rear axle transmission housing.
- Fuel Tank Problems
Some AMG G63 owners have reported issues with the fuel tank, where the fuel indicator shows zero fuel after the tank is full. This problem occurred in 2019 and 2020 models. In some cases, the issue was resolved by replacing the entire fuel tank, as the fuel tank comes with a built-in fuel sensor, and there is no other way to repair the issue. However, some owners have expressed concerns that dealers may be trying to charge more by replacing the entire fuel tank instead of just the sensor.
- Rear Axle Transmission Housing Weakness
Mercedes-AMG has issued a stop-drive warning for the G63 4×4² models from the 2022 model year due to a weak rear axle transmission housing. This issue can lead to oil leaks or even fracturing of the housing, resulting in a loss of propulsion. Mercedes-AMG is advising owners to stop driving their vehicles and have them towed to a dealer for inspection and replacement of parts as necessary. This issue affects approximately 278 vehicles, and there have been no reports of third-party damages or injuries as a result of this condition.
These common problems with the Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 can be concerning for owners, but Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG are taking steps to address these issues, offering free repairs and inspections to ensure the safety and satisfaction of their customers.
