For 2017, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were added to the SYNC 3 system and power liftgate and automatic brake hold were made standard.
For 2018, Lincoln added the Lincoln Connect 4G Wi-Fi system (standard on all trims). Premium models received four way power lumbar control for the driver seat and power lumbar was added for both seats on Select and higher trims.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-04
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-09
- VIN: 5LMCJ2C96JU
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: I purchased the automobile on [XXX] with 44,175 miles. When the engine light came on recently, I took it to the Lincoln dealer here in Las Vegas, paid $205 for the computer to be assessed, and was told the problem was coolant leaking into the engine. They were not able to start any repairs at that time. I was not told what it would cost to repair or the time involved. I assumed it was an air conditioning problem. I drove it a few days and the engine light went off, only to come back on. I then took it to AAA ($177 for the diagnosis), reporting that cylinder 3 had coolant leaking. Tech found TSB 19-2172 TSB. 19-2172 is for current symptoms of misfire at start-up. It was suggested that I take it to the Lincoln dealer. While driving the car home on [XXX], the engine was missing, chugging. I was afraid it would stall. I am thankful it did not stall on the freeway and that I made it home safely. When I called the Lincoln dealer to make an appointment to take the car in for service, I was told it would take three or four weeks to get it repaired, that the engine would have to be replaced for $7,800 - $9,800, and that Lincoln Motor Company will not take any responsibility. He said there were two other vehicles in line with the same problem. Due to being afraid to drive it, I had the car towed by AAA on Monday, October 7, 2024, to the Lincoln dealer and was told the estimate to repair it would be $8,493. This is a coolant intrusion issue due to a faulty design in the engine block where the cooling channels will crack and leak coolant into the piston chambers. As gleaned from the Internet, this appears to have been an ongoing problem with this model. I've observed so far from the Internet that Lincoln Motor Company is not taking responsibility for this faulty design affecting many Lincoln owners. I am [XXX], and living on a fixed income. I had to rent a car and put up a $735 deposit. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- Date Of Incident: 2022-10-03
- Date Complaint: 2024-10-03
- VIN: 5LMCJ1C91JU

Additionally, the contact noticed that there was an abnormal coolant odor inside the cabin of the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with coolant leaking onto the ignition coil #2. The mechanic replaced the spark plugs, and the ignition coil #2 was replaced several times; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant intrusion in the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

- Summary: My Lincoln MKC 2019 2.0 EcoBoost with just 37k miles show and engine light. Dealership diagnostic was PC0301. Misfire on the cylinder number 1. The solution? Engine replacement with a cost of $9,000 USD. Due to a well know problem. Coolant leak. I can not afford to pay this amount, and unfortunately the vehicle is not under warranty. Ford Motor Company knows this issue and still isn’t doing anything to help owners that are out of warranty. Surely is not a problem cause by the user, is a defect from factory. This problem also affects Canadian market and Mexico.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-01
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-08
- VIN: 5LMCJ4C99JU
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: After the original 2.0L EcoBoost in my MKC Black Label failed from coolant intrusion around 37,500 miles in May 2023, the replacement engine my dealer installed also failed from coolant intrusion. This time, it failed in July 2024 after less than 5,000 miles. Like the first engine failure, the check engine light illuminated, but this time, the code I saw was P0300 random cylinder misfire. Like last time, the dealer performed a cooling system pressurization test, and the engine failed the test. They also did a borescope inspection and saw coolant leaking into cylinder three's combustion chamber. They also found rust pitting in the cylinder walls. Like last time, they replaced the $7,000+ long block. This failed replacement engine was assembled in March 2023 via the engine code information sticker, with the block part number J2GE 6006 AC, which Ford's TSB 22-2229 states technicians should use. The engine currently in my car, the second replacement, was assembled in April 2024, having the same block part number of J2GE 6006 AC as the first replacement engine assembled in March 2023. In other words, the dealer installed an engine with the same block part number as the one that failed on me in less than 5,000 miles. All three of my MKC's engines are assembled at Ford's Valencia engine plant in Spain. I'm afraid this second engine replacement will also fail, and I'll have to pay the full cost. In the less than three years I've owned this car, these engine replacements have cost $14,000+. I can't believe how many owners have experienced this coolant intrusion problem, as the 2.0L EcoBoost is used in many models. And it's not just the 2.0L; it's also other variants such as the 1.5L, 1.6L, and 2.3L. I hope Ford will do the right thing and recall these engines, or NHTSA will open an investigation and force a recall. Please help us owners, NHTSA, as there are many, many more of us out there suffering from these notorious engine problems that Ford doesn't want to deal with.

The mechanic diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion in cylinder #2. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where the same assessment was made, and the dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

- Summary: I have the 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 (assembled December 2017, engine block part number HV 206 AA) in my 2018 Lincoln MKC Black Label. The head gasket failed at 37,000 miles in May 2023, according to my Ford/Lincoln dealer. It started as intermittent misfiring/running rough with the check engine light illuminated. My scanner detected the code P0301 cylinder one misfire. My coolant reservoir tank level also gradually decreased, with no visible leakage. After waiting weeks to have my engine looked at, they confirmed that cylinder 1 was burning coolant as it failed Ford's cooling system pressurization test. A borescope test also proved that the coolant was leaking into cylinder one's combustion chamber. At this point, I've learned from many complaints online that these engines are notorious for suffering coolant intrusion even at low mileage, and Ford refuses to issue a recall despite this well-known issue that also plagues other EcoBoost I-4 variants. This well-known coolant intrusion problem affecting many Ford and Lincoln models is a costly safety issue for owners. Ford needs to do the right thing and recall these engines. I bought the car in December 2021 with 30,000 miles from a Lincoln dealer in Las Vegas, Nevada, and it was CPO, so the extended warranty covered the engine replacement (long block). Had this not been under warranty, I would have paid more than $7,000. Most owners are not fortunate like me to have a warranty cover this repair. The replacement engine in my MKC now was assembled in March 2023 via the engine code information sticker, with the block part number J2GE 6006 AC.

I was searching for a used Audi Q5 with a light colored interior, but it was proving to be a challenge as most of the models on the road had black leather interiors. Despite visiting five different Audi dealerships, we were unable to find a suitable model as they had all been sold. Although we had our hearts set on the Audi, we test drove the MKC and were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked it. In fact, we ended up purchasing a dealer demo model with the Reserve trim and all the bells and whistles. We are thrilled with our decision as the MKC performs similarly to the Q5, but at a lower cost and with more features. The SYNC3 system works flawlessly and we appreciate the thoughtful touches that Lincoln has added, such as the illuminated welcome mat, the speedometer showing the posted speed limit, and the multiple ports for device connectivity. The MKC is a stylish and comfortable SUV that is quiet and smooth to drive. We have had great experiences with the limited dealerships we have visited. Before you make a decision to purchase an SUV from Audi, Acura, Volvo or BMW, we highly recommend test driving the MKC.

Comfortable, quiet ride, good visibility and easy handling - these are the qualities that best describe the MKC. As someone who has just purchased their first Lincoln, I can confidently say that I would definitely consider buying another one in the future.

I completely understand the feeling of being tired of getting in and out of a small car every day. So, I went on a search for a mini-luxo-crossover for my daily hour drive. I must admit, the only reason I thought about this car was because of those silly commercials. But, I decided to take a look and was pleasantly surprised. The sticker price on the lot was unbeatable compared to some of the cars mentioned in Edmunds review. I had set a budget of $45k, but my local dealers did not have an MB GLK or Audi Q5 for less than $47k on the lot. Even the only BMW X3 I found under $50k didn't have nav! Can you believe it? There were a couple of Volvo XC60s that fit in my range, but they were not as loaded as the MKC I was able to get. I got the upgrade 2.3l engine, awd, the nav package, and several other options, including the incredible panoramic roof for $44k before any haggling or rebates. I would say this model straddles segments as it more directly competed in price with the MB GLA class, BMW X1, Infiniti QX50, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC70, all of which I'd call tall wagons. None had the ride height of the MKC. The only vehicle I would say directly competes is the Acura RDX. It did have more space and otherwise had similar features for the price, topping out at $44k. But, honestly, the 3.5l V-6 in the Acura felt gutless compared to the 2.3l turbo 4 in the MKC. That was probably my deciding factor. Overall, I am thrilled with my purchase!

The Lincoln MKC is the luxury version of Ford and it certainly lives up to its name! When I was considering the Audi Q5, Mercedes, and Lexus, I found that the MKC's interior was far superior. It's just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside, and the dashboard is easy to navigate. The ride is incredibly smooth, and I opted for the 2.0 version as it suits my daily needs perfectly without the need for the turbo 2.3 effect. The car truly feels luxurious and meets all of my expectations. The dealership was very friendly, and the service that comes with the car is super convenient, especially since I work all the time. I purchased the reserve AWD model, and it's a nice and quiet drive. Although I haven't had the car for long, I can say that it feels comfortable, the leather is nice, and the color is spot on for a luxurious feel. I love this car more than I ever thought I would, especially considering that I was looking at other luxury cars that were more expensive and had fewer features. I highly recommend trying the Lincoln before the others, as it changed my mind when I sat in the car and took it for a test drive. While the back seats and cargo space may not be the most comfortable for larger families, the MKX is available if that's what you need. For my husband and me, this is the perfect car.

You made a great choice in purchasing a Lincoln Certified used car! It's wonderful to hear that you still had 7 months remaining in the factory warranty before the certified warranty kicks in. The car is so much fun to drive and handles more like a car than an SUV. I'm glad to hear that you love the design, both inside and out. It's fantastic that you've taken several long trips and found it to be very comfortable, even after being on the road for many hours. Plus, your highway fuel mileage (30 - 32) has been better than the EPA estimates, which is fantastic! City fuel mileage has been spot on with EPA as you've been getting 19 -21. Overall, it's great to hear that you love the features and the comfort. The car is also very quiet, which is a bonus!

My 2011 Caddy SRX has 117k on it and has never been to a repair shop or dealer except for PM. Unfortunately, it had to be towed due to issues with shifting and power. This is the second time this has happened. On the other hand, my Lincoln has had four issues in just 46k. Unless Lincoln makes significant improvements to the quality of their products, I will not be purchasing another one.

When using Car Play, the vehicle's navigation cannot be used and instead, the Maps on your phone must be used. Additionally, the SIRI function may not always work correctly when trying to make a phone call. It's worth noting that the car does not have a heat vent near the driver's door, which can make it feel colder on that side. While the turn radius may not be as tight as some other vehicles, the SUV still handles well. In snowy conditions, the AWD may not perform as well as expected. The gas mileage is also not as good as hoped, with a maximum of 20 mpg. Overall, there are some areas for improvement, but it's still a decent car.

I recently purchased a 2019 MKC that had been used as a loaner car by the dealer, so it had 20,000 miles on it. Although I should have been more cautious, I fell in love with its beautiful design and comfortable seats. However, after driving it for six months, I noticed that it wasn't idling as smoothly as it did when I first bought it. I took it in for regular service and to address the idling issue, but unfortunately, the problem persisted. I am currently having it serviced again for the idle and transmission problems, and I hope that they can fix it. Despite these issues, I still love my MKC and its luxurious feel.

I have a 2017 Lincoln MKC that I have been maintaining since I drive quite a bit. Currently, it has 87000 miles on it. Unfortunately, last April, the left blinker went out and I had to get it replaced, which cost me $1500 at the dealership. Since then, the rear camera stopped working, but the dealership told me it had nothing to do with them replacing the back LED panel and wanted to charge me another $1000 for it. I declined, and now I have no camera. A year later, the AC compressor and transmission went out. As someone who bought a Lincoln for safety and durability, I am very disappointed. Although the car is only 3 years old and out of warranty with the high mileage, I feel like I would have been better off with a Toyota!

I am sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing with your Lincoln MKC. It must have been frustrating to have your transmission fail and experience issues with the ABS sensors and emergency brake. It is understandable that you expected more from a vehicle that cost $45,000. I hope that the Lemon Law complaint you filed with the BBB will help resolve the situation. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to assist you.
