The Jeep Gladiator is a mid-size pickup truck manufactured by the Jeep division of Stellantis North America (formerly FCA US). It was introduced at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 28, 2018, and went on sale in the spring of 2019 as a 2020 model. Based on the same platform as the Wrangler JL, the Gladiator is Jeep's first pickup truck since the Comanche was discontinued in 1992.
Jeep Gladiator is also being marketed in Australia and New Zealand as the first markets outside the Americas. It is also officially available in North America, parts of South America, parts of Europe, China, Japan, South Korea, parts of Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Israel, and South Africa.
History
The vehicle's name harkens back to the original Jeep Gladiator, made in 1962 until 1988 and known as the J-Series after 1971. Jeep considered reviving the Gladiator name alongside Comanche and most commonly Scrambler, as well as simply using a new name, before deciding on Gladiator, feeling it fits the truck the best.
A two-door version of a Jeep Scrambler pickup based on a lengthened Wrangler was shown in 2003 at the National Automobile Dealers Association meeting.
In late-2004 the Jeep Gladiator concept was introduced. The 2005 Gladiator Concept did not feature a removable roof, but had removable doors and a pickup bed. It also previewed the design of the upcoming Jeep Wrangler (JK). The Gladiator concept was powered by a 3.0 L Common-Rail Diesel (CRD) engine produced by VM Motori (similar to the one used in some models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee), mated to a manual transmission, and four-wheel-drive. It featured functional rear mini-doors, and rear seating. The Gladiator concept featured a green-on-gray color scheme for both the exterior and interior.

- Summary: IPC Instrument Panel Cluster started on/off in the digital dash screen since Wednesday morning but coming back to my Moms house it went off. I was able to drive my vehicle back, parked. I got stomach sickness until Sunday I went to turned on vehicle and it didn't started. Now it got me confused. Is it the IPC or the batteries? Vehicle opens, locks but didn't started. Plan on calling authorized dealer for Jeep since I changed the battery this past year for shutting off, think like December 2023. Hopefully, it gets resolved but it might been the IPC since a few vehicles including Gladiator model from 2020 was included. NHTSA Recall number 24V652000. Also Manufacturer Recall Number: 30B fyi.

- Summary: 2021 Jeep Gladiator at 43K miles brought in for oil change. Lube tech noticed that the right rear axle seal was leaking fluid with fluid sprayed over the inner wheel and nearby assembly. FSA Customer Satisfaction Notification states to reference CSN 26A and that the recommended remedy is to replace the right rear shaft. If not repaired/replaced, this could lead to damage to the transmission. I contacted my local dealership who informed me that my vehicle had no open recalls, even though Jeep forums state the problem is affecting thousands of Gladiators like mine.

- Summary: While driving under normal, clear road conditions, my center gauge cluster display went black. I have checked my fuses (both fuses that are assigned to the instrument cluster, both were functioning as designed) and disconnected the negative battery terminal to allow the system to reset with negative results. This puts my vehicle, and others, is an unsafe position because I am unable to tell anything about certain critical vehicle data such as engine temperature, fuel level, mileage, TMPS, etc. I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership yet because I don't feel comfortable driving it. There were no warning lights or problems prior to this issue presenting.

- Summary: I had been driving for about an hour returning from a camping trip when my wife and I noticed a burning smell in the cab of the vehicle. About 5 seconds later smoke began filling the interior. I pulled over and got my family out of the vehicle, which includes my wife, two kids and a dog. I went to the front of the vehicle and saw flames on the passenger side inner fender as well as the top of the passenger fender. With the help of a friend who was traveling with us, I was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher I always carry. I think its safe to say a vehicle fire put my entire families safety at risk. I have contacted my insurance company and filed a claim, however no inspections have been performed yet. There were no warning lamps indicating there was an issue.

Vehicle year: 2023
This is a really cool vehicle with any platform engine offered. The turbo diesel, however, has a ton of power and will get you rolling in a quick manner. I love this thing! An update after 5000 miles: this truck continues to be a versatile, powerful, and economic truck. Living in the Appalachian Mountains doesn't typically allow for good fuel economy, yet I refilled an empty tank that averaged 17 miles per gallon on Sunday.

I've owned several types of Jeeps, including the Cherokee Sport, Rubicon, 4DR Wrangler, and now a new truck (my first new one). They have all held their value and have been easy to repair, although I haven't needed many repairs. The ride is similar to a Jeep, but I find it comfortable, especially the back seat. The best thing about this truck is its versatility. I have two big Newfoundland dogs, and I thought I would have to keep the Rubicon, but I was able to remove a piece, lift the seats up, and it opens into a big area. It's also easier to get them in and out. I call it my LGO TRK because I can take it apart piece by piece. Another great feature is the tool kit and a place for your bolts when removing tops and doors. Uconnect is awesome, and it's good on dirt roads. I haven't had it in the snow yet, but all my others were awesome. I love my Jeep/truck/car.

*10/18/21* update - I've been driving my Gladiator for over a year now, covering more than 20k miles, and it has been absolutely outstanding. It's reliable, powerful, and tough, and has proven to be the most adaptable and fun truck I've ever owned. *3/31/21* update - Approaching a year with my Gladiator, and I couldn't be happier with my vehicle choice. In a world of dime-a-dozen, vague-looking crossovers and gargantuan 'full-size' trucks, the Gladiator stands out as a unique and refreshing option. For me, the size is just perfect - it's small enough to fit in my garage or park side-by-side with my wife's Volvo XC60, yet big enough to carry four or five people plus gear. It's strong enough to take on anything I throw at it and tows a 3,000-pound boat with ease. Of course, it's 100% Jeep styling and function with a more supple ride than a Wrangler. Jeep really hit a home-run with this one. Note: the rear-window leak mentioned below was fixed under warranty, and there are no water leaks anymore. *12/30/20* update - It's now relatively cold here in North Carolina, and the Gladiator is still performing great. The Jeep heats up quickly and can get HOT fast. Seated heats and steering wheel are a big plus this time of year. The only issue I've had in about 8,500 miles is the rear glass on the hard top apparently came from the factory leaking around the seal. I've read in some Gladiator forums that this was a common issue on some early Gladiators. Chrysler is replacing the rear glass under warranty, however due to COVID it's taken two months at this point for the glass to come in. Thankfully it's a relatively minor leak. To be honest, I somewhat expect things like this to crop up on a new model vehicle in its first year. All in all though, the Gladiator has been fantastic. As someone who has owned a '13 four-door JK Wrangler and an '18 Grand Cherokee, I may have a bit of pro-Jeep bias, BUT my new Gladiator Overland continues to impress me.The Gladiator shares many parts with the new JL Wrangler, so naturally, the cabin comfort and quality of materials are superior to my JK Unlimited. I highly recommend splurging for the 8.4-inch screen, as the UConnect infotainment system is the most intuitive and best-looking system I've ever used. As for driving, I've only spent a limited amount of time in a JL Wrangler, so I can't compare its driving experience to the Gladiator. However, I can say that the Gladiator is a vast improvement over the JK. It effortlessly soaks up bumps and imperfections, making for a smooth ride. The truck bed is what sold me on the Gladiator. I'm not a big off-roader, so the compromises Jeep had to make with the longer frame are a fair trade-off to enjoy being able to haul things on the weekend or throw stuff in the back and get going. Wranglers aren't known for their cargo space, though my JKU wasn't too bad. The Gladiator just makes loading gear effortless. And unlike most other trucks, you can reach right over the side of the bed and grab whatever you need. Another plus is the 3.6 Pentastar engine paired with the 8-speed auto transmission. The Pentastar is reliable and gets up to speed just fine with the 8-speed. Yes, you notice the Gladiator's additional weight, but I think the Pentastar is completely suitable for this size vehicle. To top it off, the truck is a convertible and oozes personality. There may be cheaper options available in the mid-size truck category, but will those trucks put a smile on your face every day like the Jeep? To each his own, but I always look forward to getting behind the wheel of the Gladiator.

I've purchased and leased many vehicles over the years, many of them from luxury brands, but none of them have the charm and likeability of this Gladiator. My wife and kids love this vehicle even more than me. I love the no-nonsense structure and quality of materials. BIG THUMBS UP.

I am amazed at how well this truck drives. I bought it on a whim because it looked cool and sold my Mercedes ML the next day. I just drove it from Denver to New York non-stop in 27 hours. I love it!

I purchased the new 2023 Gladiator Freedom Edition in November 2022 and have only driven it for 2000 miles. Recently, while driving in a heavy traffic area with many tractor trailers around me, I came to a stop light. When the light turned green and I tried to accelerate, the car wouldn't move. It was a scary situation as there were many tractor trailers traveling at high speeds around me. After a few attempts of putting the car in park, turning it off and starting it again, it finally moved. I am currently pursuing a lemon law case and the car is with the dealer. The rear differential failed after only 16,000 miles and has been at the dealership for two months. Despite my efforts to get an ETA on the part, I have been given the runaround and have not received any helpful information from Jeep Wave customer care. Unfortunately, this experience has left me disappointed in the brand and its customer service. As a first-time Jeep owner, I regret trading in my Toyota 4Runner for this vehicle. It is important for Jeep to address these issues and improve their customer service in order to retain loyal customers.

This jeep has been to the dealership multiple times. The first time was for the right side head gasket. Unfortunately, it seems to be running rough again, with electrical misfires on multiple cylinders. We really love this truck, but we're worried that it might become costly to keep once it's out of warranty. It's such a shame.

I recently purchased a 2021 Gladiator Sport with the 8-speed auto trans and Heavy Duty Tow Package. Unfortunately, when I attempted to tow my 21 ft. Bennigton Pontoon Boat (3000 lbs) trailer boat and motor, I encountered some difficulties. The truck seemed to struggle in every gear and had trouble getting out of 4th gear. Even when I tried manual shifting, it still didn't perform as expected. Although the truck is rated to tow 7300 lbs, I was disappointed with its performance. As someone who has owned 5 Jeeps, including a Call of Duty Rubicon that tows better, I was extremely disappointed. Additionally, I noticed that the truck tends to wander, which was a problem that I had read about in various write-ups. Overall, I feel that my $45000.00 investment was not worth it.

I experienced a cylinder misfire during the first few months of owning my 21 Mojave, which was caused by a faulty spark plug. Currently, I am facing issues with the front Fox shocks, but fortunately, they are under warranty. Despite these setbacks, I am still considering my options and have not yet decided to sell. While I am disappointed with the issues I have faced, I acknowledge that the seats are not as comfortable as those in a Honda mini van.
