The Hyundai Palisade (Korean: 현대 팰리세이드) is a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Hyundai Motor Company since late 2018, replacing the Maxcruz (also known as Santa Fe XL outside of South Korea) as the flagship SUV under the Hyundai brand.
The term palisade means a fence of defensive stakes or a series of coastal cliffs — the latter recalling the neighborhood of Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles or the nearly forty mile Hudson River palisade, running north from opposite Manhattan.
Overview
The Palisade debuted at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 28, 2018, having been previewed by Hyundai's Grandmaster concept of June 2018. The Palisade is Hyundai's largest passenger vehicle to date, measuring 4,980 mm (196.1 in) long with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm (114.2 in) inches. It has 21 cu ft (595 L) of cargo space behind the third row and 87 cu ft (2,464 L) with both rows folded down. Like its predecessor, the Palisade features three rows of seating, with seating for up to eight passengers when equipped with a second-row bench seat or seven passengers with the optional second-row captain seat.
The vehicle rated a coefficient drag of 0.33, achieved with an optimised front cooling area with extended internal air guide, aerodynamic underside panels with full front and centre underbody covers, and rear wheel aero deflectors.
Introduction of the right-hand drive model started in December 2020 in Australia and Indonesia. CKD assembly in Russia started in 2020 by Avtotor for domestic sales.

- Summary: I was approaching a stop sign, slowing down to around ~20 mph, then gently applied the brakes. All of a sudden, the car stared to lurch forward and the steering wheel shuddered violently as the ABS braking appeared to kick in. As the brakes were applied, the vehicle kept bouncing forward in spurts rather than stopping and it took almost twice as long to stop than it should have. There was a vehicle in front of me and my vehicle was a foot from rear-ending that car despite me slowing in advance and attempting to brake gently. The collision warning system kicked in and I suspect that the vehicle stopped itself, even though I was firmly holding the brake pedal down. My wife experienced te identical situation a week later, so this is becoming very concerning. A quick search on the internet has revealed that many other 2023 & 2024 model year have experienced the same issues, and apparently Hyundai USA is aware of the issue, but do not have a solution to fix it yet.

- Summary: When driving the car normally suddenly there was an extremely loud sound above us. After pulling off the road and inspecting the vehicle we saw that the front sunroof had shattered. Fortunately the bottom cover had been closed else the glass would have fallen on the driver and passengers and very well could have caused an accident and/or injuries. The remaining glass was bowed upwards and there wasn't any foreign objects inside the roof. At the time of the incident there were no other vehicles around us nor were we under any trees or highway structure. We brought the car to the dealer who claimed that something must have impacted the sunroof however that is not the case. The sunroof glass spontaneously just shattered without any warning. There had been no cracks or chips in the sunroof glass at the time.

Engine was making a rattling noise under hood and felt like it was going to die, Took to Dealer and code p0087 p219e were low and inbalanced also 3 fuel injector was bad and 1 cylinder was bad that was on 12-8-23 on 12-21-23 when going uphill it downshifts and noise from hood engie sputter and acts like its going to die , Also rattling under hood. checked code engine oil pressure too low oil was 4 quarrts low no leaks found topped off and marked drain plug , wanted me to drive for 1000 miles and bring back in. at no time did my oil light come on when it was low. 1/8/24 took it in cause it had used oil oil housing unit was leaking they replaced that and they did a oil change on it said i needed to come back in 1000 miles 2/6/24 oil check combustion chamber cleaning vehicle used 069 quarts of oil in 1,164 miles 2/8/24 when driving it has no power or shift. 2/26/24 got in vehicle and the speedometer that told miles per gallon was at 5.0 and was going up to 10 and back down i took it and dropped it off at the dealer and have had every since. i have been waiting on a new motor since 2/26/24 it is now 10/24/24 i had to drive my car for 1000 milles several times for with these issues. i could of caused an accident or been hit. this put my life in danger and the lifes of my family. i have documents to prove this as well At this time saleman were trying to get me to trade my car in i have numerous text, calls and emails i had to get rude with them so they would leave me alone. i have been having issues since December 2023 its now October 2024 i still do not have my car, i have been making payments. They say they cant tell me when they will get the parts to fix my car, they are on backorder,. i have been in touch with Hyandai America. They have not got any issues resolved either. i contacted them in August of 24 . i feel like i am just getting the run around.

Lasty the suspension it has clicking noises that cannot be resolved.

Vehicle year: 2020
The Palisade is definitely the best medium-sized 3-row SUV out there, not only when compared to the Highlander, Telluride, Explorer, etc., but also when compared to luxury brands like Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Lincoln, and Acura. Our previous cars were BMW and Mercedes, and we always stuck with 'luxury brands' because we believe in quality and peace of mind. We keep our cars for 5-7 years, so we always prefer to buy new from the dealership for the warranty. Our first experience with Hyundai was purchasing a Hyundai Tucson for our daughter a couple of years ago, and it was and still is a very positive experience. It's reliable, has great service, and is safe and comfortable for what our daughter needs. Before buying the Palisade, we researched every 3-row model in the market and immediately narrowed our choice to medium-sized 3-row SUVs, not the large size, so I am not comparing the Palisade to the Lincoln Navigator but rather the Lincoln Aviator. For us, the most important considerations are: 1. Safety, 2. Reliability (how often will it break and how will the manufacturer and dealership handle the issue), 3. Interior luxury and comfort (including road noise), 4. Technology (how advanced to how many USB ports), 5. Exterior look - obviously more of a personal taste, 6. Drive performance (for the SUV, we are not looking for a street racer but strong enough to keep you safe. Sometimes you need acceleration to complete a pass and stay safe), and 7. Price (while the Palisade offers GREAT value, this was important but not in the top 5 for us). The Palisade scored 261 points out of a maximum of 280 points, which was the highest score for us, with the Lincoln Aviator coming in second with 224 points. The Palisade scored in the 1st or 2nd spot in all categories. With the obvious comparison to the Telluride, we prefer the outside look of the Telluride, but the inside luxury of the Palisade is several levels above the Telluride and is truly up there with top 'Luxury' brands.The Palisade boasts an impressive array of safety features, both passive and active. During our brief test drive of less than 100 miles, we were struck by the attention to detail that Hyundai has put into designing the interior. From the multiple USB plugs to the convenient ability to fold the 3rd row seats from the driver's seat using the infotainment screen (a feature available on the AWD Limited trim), every aspect of the Palisade's interior has been carefully considered. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the handling is superb, making it feel spacious without being cumbersome. The Palisade is packed with technology, with every feature you could possibly need, and the responsive touch screen is lightning-fast. Best of all, every feature is configurable from the setup menu, making it easy to customize to your liking. The Palisade is a true bargain, and we have no doubt that next year's model will be priced higher. We appreciate that Hyundai doesn't try to upsell any features, and when you buy the Limited trim, every option is already included. Even the basic trim has plenty of features to offer. In fact, we believe that Hyundai could have easily put the Genesis logo on the Palisade and charged at least 20k more. We highly recommend the Palisade to anyone in the market for a new SUV.

Congratulations on your new 2022 Palisade Limited! From the outside, it looks larger than the average medium-sized SUV, but the handling is surprisingly nimble, making it feel like a much smaller vehicle. The spacious interior is luxurious and well-made, which is impressive for a vehicle priced close to 50k. The controls are intuitive, and the features are easy to set up. Here are some of the things I love about it: 1) The surround camera is a great aid in parking, especially in tight spaces. 2) The sound system is among the best I have heard in an SUV. 3) The full list of features can be easily set to your liking. 4) The Heads Up Display (HUD) is very convenient, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road while still being aware of important indicators like blind spot monitoring, turn-by-turn directions, speed, and more. 5) The USB outlets, storage spaces, and cup holders are all strategically located and adequate. While there are a few things that don't excite me, such as the push button shift that can be confusing when transitioning from REVERSE to DRIVE, the tailgate that opens simply by standing around the rear of the car with the key in your pocket, and the road noise generated by the tires in contact with the pavement that can be heard inside the cabin, overall, this is the best available SUV with 3-row seats, even better than my son's Telluride. I have driven all brands and kinds of SUVs, but the Palisade beats them all. It replaces the Santa Fe and is bigger, sharper, and bolder in every way. The engine accelerates with ease and power, making it even better than the Acura MDX. The Palisade is possibly the best thing to come from Hyundai since they spun out Genesis. The exterior is unique and sharp, while the interior looks like something you would see inside a Mercedes. The safety features are also very helpful and not confusing or annoying. I am excited to see if Genesis' SUV in the spring of 20 can top the Palisade, but I doubt it.

This vehicle has all the latest technology and safety features that we were looking for. The fit and finish are reminiscent of German luxury brands. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the quilted nappa leather seating is very comfortable. The rainforest color (metallic green) looks green in some lighting and more grey at other times. The lane keeping assist is one of the best I've seen and has a stop and go traffic feature. The third row is usable and easy to access. The turn signal has a camera that shows up in your tach gauges, both left and right side, like Honda lane watch on steroids. The heads-up display shows speed limit signs and blind spot warnings as well. Remote start and lock from the app is really handy, and you can set the temperature beforehand so you're ready to roll. If you're shopping in this segment, make sure you check this out. You won't be disappointed!

This vehicle does not meet our expectations. Getting any service other than an oil change and tire rotation takes 2-3 diagnostic timeframe. We have experienced a bumpy ride, a noisy cabin, cold air coming through windows and door handles, cold air blowing from under the dash, and electronics issues with the back seats. The codes also intermittently display. Based on our experience, we do not believe that this vehicle is worth the price we paid.

I recently purchased an AWD Palisade, but unfortunately, it has been in the shop for two days due to a vibration issue. Despite having the tires rotated and balanced, the humming persisted. After picking up the vehicle, the vibration was even worse, so it had to be taken back to the shop. As a well-informed consumer, I am disappointed with my experience and cannot recommend this vehicle to others.

Be cautious when considering a Palisade purchase. We bought a fully-loaded 2020 Palisade in January 2020 and were concerned about wind noise on both front driver and passenger side windows. Our dealership assured us that there was a Hyundai bulletin about the noise and a fix that would take care of it should the wind noise bother us. A few days after we took it home, the dealership service department evaluated our beautiful new Palisade and validated our wind noise concerns. Parts were ordered to perform the fix and a couple of weeks later, they called to schedule the appointment. Unfortunately, when we took the car in this morning, they informed us that Hyundai Corporate has ceased repairs on the wind noise problem. We recommend being cautious and doing your research before making a purchase.

We absolutely love our 2021 Palisade! However, we had to deal with a dealership for warranty work after the purchase. Unfortunately, our local dealership in Brandon, Fl was a nightmare when it came to service. When my wife stopped by with our 2 kids in the back because the driver's side window stopped working and fell/cracked into the door, she was told that there was nothing they could do to help. They didn't offer a loaner or rental, or even help getting a rental. They did allow us to leave the car there, but with no promise of when they could get to it. This happened on November 9th and the parts were not going to be in until the 20th. Now it's December and we just got a call that it's on backorder. Unfortunately, we haven't received any help from Hyundai USA either, despite having a case and case manager. We started calling him now that we have his extension, but no luck there. The good news is that we're so mad at Hyundai local & USA that we haven't had a chance to be terrified that the motor/window broke @ 6 months 4k miles... lol. We really want to be Hyundai cheerleaders, but unfortunately, we're experiencing what we hoped they had resolved as a company. We recommend that buyers beware and read both the bad reviews as well as the 5-star reviews. We hope this helps someone. Update... we found a great dealership, but it's 25 miles away. It's not the biggest deal, but we have to drive past 2 awful Hyundai dealerships to get there.

Hi there! I noticed that you mentioned the towing ability of the Hyundai Palisade. I just wanted to let you know that while the factory tow receivers are not available, there are some great after-market options out there. However, if you prefer to have everything factory-installed, you might want to consider the Expedition or Explorer. They are both great options and come with factory-installed towing equipment.
