Development
The Dodge Ram SRT was created by DaimlerChrysler's PVO (Performance Vehicle Operations) division, using Dodge Viper and Plymouth Prowler engineers. Extensive wind tunnel testing was used in styling the exterior of the Ram SRT-10. This is the second time that Dodge has put a Viper engine into a Ram pickup. At the 1996 Chicago Auto Show, Dodge introduced a concept Dodge Ram with a Viper Generation 2 engine, but it was not put into production. The Dodge Ram VTS was painted Banzai Blue with dual white skunk stripes, housed an 8.0 L (488 cid) V10, a six-speed Borg-Warner manual gearbox, and 17 in (432 mm) Viper GTS wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich 275/60-HR17 Comp T/A HR4 tires.
Overview
The SRT-10 featured a Chrysler 8.3 liter V10 that was first used in the third generation Viper. This engine produced 500 bhp (373 kW; 507 PS) at 5,600 rpm and 525 lb⋅ft (712 N⋅m) of torque at 4,200 rpm. The regular cab, with a total curb weight of 5,130 lb (2,327 kg), reached a top speed of 154 mph (248 km/h), and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.9 seconds, whereas the Quad Cab, weighing 5,618 lb (2,548 kg), achieved 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 5.3 seconds and reached a top speed of 147 mph (237 km/h). The regular cab could complete the 1⁄4 mi (400 m) in 13.6 seconds at 106 mph (171 km/h), the Quad Cab in 13.7 seconds at 100 mph (161 km/h). The engine produced one horsepower for every 10.3 lbs of vehicle weight in the regular cab. The regular cab generated .86 g of grip on a 300 ft (91 m) skidpad, while the Quad Cab generated .83 g. The regular cab was rated by the EPA at 9 MPG city/15 highway, while the Quad Cab was rated at 9 city/12 MPG highway.

- Summary: ON 12/11/18 MY WIFE PICKED-UP THE KIDS FROM THEIR SCHOOL. AT ABOUT 14:25 MY WIFE HAD ARRIVED HOME AND HAD NOTICED THERE WAS A BURNT RUBBER (ACRID) SMELL SHE THOUGHT CAME FROM THE LEFT FRONT OF THE CAR. THIS SMELL STARTED WHILE DRIVING. THE ROUND-TRIP TO SCHOOL IS ABOUT 20 MILES AND TAKES ABOUT 20 MINUTES EACH WAY. MY WIFE SAID SHE TRIED TO IDENTIFY WHERE THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM AFTER CLEARING THE CAR BUT COULD NOT PINPOINT IT. NO SMOKE OF ANY KIND WAS SEEN. SHE WENT BACK INSIDE AFTER FAILING TO LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE SMELL. THE NEIGHBOR CALLED TO SAY HER CAR WAS ON FIRE SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND HAD BEEN STANDING FOR AROUND 10 MINUTES WHEN THE FIRE WAS REPORTED BY THE NEIGHBOR, AT WHICH TIME BIG FLAMES WERE VISIBLE AND COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. FD ARRIVED ON THE SCENE AT 14:43. BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, DASHBOARD AND FRONT ROW SEAT AREAS WERE ALL FULLY INVOLVED IN THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OR SOURCE OF THE FIRE EXACTLY OTHER THAN TO SAY IT STARTED IN THE FRONT LEFT OF THE CAR, LIKELY FROM WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE WITH THE ENGINE METAL FUSED AND THE INTERIOR FULLY BURNT AWAY AND DESTROYED. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN WELL-MAINTAINED AND WE'VE HAD IT SERVICED BY TWO DIFFERENT GARAGES THIS YEAR ALONE AND IT HAS BEEN SERVICED BY A DODGE-AUTHORIZED DEALER ANNUALLY PER THE SCHEDULE. MOST RECENTLY IN JULY, AUGUST AND NOVEMBER 2018. THE LAST VISIT WAS TO A LOCAL GARAGE TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED (ON 11/26/18). LOCAL FD AND PD ATTENDED AND INCIDENT REPORTS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THEM.

- Summary: I HAD MY TRUCK SHUT DOWN ON ME AND HAD THE DEALER TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE TIPM TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WITCH THEY SAY THEY DON'T CARRY ANY MORE AND THE PART IS AROUND 760 DOLLARS SO THEY JUMPED THE MODULE TO GET IT TO START WITCH AT THIS POINT COAST ME 963 BETWEEN THEM AND RENTAL FEES SO I CALL ALL AROUND LOOKING FOR THIS PART TO COME AND FIND OUT THROUGH A VIPER SPECIALIST THE PART WAS RENUMBERED SO MY PROBLEM IS 1. THEY DON'T KNOW THERE OWN SYSTEM FOR PARTS 2. THE FIX THEY DID WENT YESTERDAY AND IT FRIED THE WIRE THEY USED TO FIX IT SO I PUT IN THE TIPM THAT I RESERVED ON 4/4/2014 HOPPING TO GET IT TO START BUT IT HAS TO BE RE-FLASHED OR CODED.SO NOW IT SITS AT THE DEALER AGAIN AND THE WIRE THEY INSTALLED BETTER HAVE NOT FRIED ANY OTHER EQUIPMENT IN MY TRUCK ALSO THE TRUCK IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD THERE IS A PROBLEM WHEN A DEALER DOESN'T CARRY PARTS FOR TRUCKS THAT RANT EVEN TEN YEARS OLD AND WHEN THEY DO THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO FIND THEM 3. THE FACT IS THAT IS IT OR SHOULD IT BE A RECALL YES IT SHOULD THE UNIT ISN'T WATER PROOF AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM I READ OF ONE OTHER ON THIS SITE. 4. NOW LOOKING INTO THIS THAT PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE ON NEWER & OLDER UNITS IN MANY DIFFERENT MAKES & MODELS.
