The Buick Encore GX is a subcompact crossover SUV built by General Motors starting in 2019. Like the smaller Encore and the related Chevrolet Trailblazer, the Encore GX is manufactured by GM Korea. In China, it is manufactured by the SAIC-GM joint venture.
Overview
The Encore GX was revealed alongside the second generation Encore at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. It shares the VSS-F platform with the new Chevrolet Trailblazer crossover SUV. The size of the Encore GX is subcompact-plus, positioned between the subcompact Encore and the compact Envision.
After the discontinuation of the smaller Encore, the Encore GX was the entry-level offering from Buick, until the arrival of the larger but less expensive Envista.

- Summary: Shift To Park displays in instrument panel when car is in Park. From my research this has been happening on GM cars since 2018, why is there no recall on this issue? People pay to get this replaced and then it happens again because GM has a "potential" fix, they are not even sure which part is causing the issue. Please help, I cannot afford to get this fixed and of course this happened right after the bumper-to-bumper warranty expired. Tech not sure if it would be covered under the Power train warranty, but mostly likely not since GM really does not know what part is causing the issue, so I'm sure they will say its anything but the Powertrain! NHTSA should be protecting consumers, this is a very old issue, and GM is still selling vehicles with this issue! Force them to do a recall, it's only fair to the consumers.

The car has lots of useful gadgetry and a handy touchscreen for phone and audio. Although, the presets on the radio won't retain non-local stations that are sometimes available. The brake pedal is too sensitive and can cause abrupt stops. Unfortunately, the biggest negative is the inability to heat the driver's side of the front cabin no matter what you do. It almost seems like insulation was forgotten in the body cavities at floor levels. However, overall it's a fun car to drive with zippy responses to acceleration and a comfortable ride. The hands-free phone is clear and user-friendly. We were pleasantly surprised to find more luggage space than anticipated.

I purchased a GX Select with the 1.3 and CVT Transmission which I would highly recommend. It has excellent power and I'm averaging 32 MPG overall. On the highway, you'll get 35 MPG. It is quiet, rides smoothly, handles great, and has excellent brakes. The three-cylinder engine does sound different at low speeds, and it is not as smooth as some cars, but once you get up to speed, it's fine.

The 2021 GX Essence model is a fantastic ride. I respectfully disagree with Edmunds' review that the cabin is noisy. However, it's worth noting that the seat size may not be suitable for larger individuals. On the plus side, I get 28 mpg in the city, the dash panel is incredibly intuitive, and the Essence model boasts a turbocharged engine and 9-speed transmission, as well as a host of other features!

The engine light came on and it turned out to be the purge pump. It was fixed on 11/2/20. However, on 11/3/20, the engine light came on again for the second time. That's quite unusual.

Based on my personal experience and research, I strongly advise against purchasing another car made in Korea. In my case, I have had to take my car to the shop for the same issues for more than two months out of the three that I have owned it. The car experiences sudden power loss, acceleration, and sporadic up and down power, making it extremely difficult to drive and reach a safe location. The car's TCM's and Speed Sensors have repeatedly thrown codes, causing further frustration and inconvenience. It is clear that this car model has significant issues that need to be addressed by the manufacturer.

I have never owned a vehicle with such high-pitched rear brakes. Despite numerous visits to the dealership and an open GM case, no solution has been found. It appears that subpar products were used in this year's model. As a result of this experience, I have decided that this will be my last GM purchase. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I previously owned a 2014 Encore and it was a great little car. Although it was a bit sluggish, it was still a safe and exceptional car to handle on snowy Michigan roads. When it came time to upgrade, I knew I had to look at a newer Encore for its winter driving performance and fuel economy. However, my 2021 Encore GX XT has been a bit difficult to handle. I turned off the auto correct feature because it was a struggle to drive correctly. While you have to manually engage the AWD, I question if it even makes a difference. As someone who has driven on snowy roads for over 20 years, I have never felt as little in control as I do with this car. I even bounced off a curb going 10 MPH last winter because the car would not let me correct, almost like the steering locked up or something. Just this past week, when taking off from a stop sign, the car's rear end decided to swerve and it took quite a bit of correcting to get it to cooperate. I'm so frustrated that I'm seriously contemplating getting something different that is safer to drive in the winter. Although I love the looks of the car and want to love it, I'm having a hard time with it.

On August 21st, I purchased an Encore GX Essence. Unfortunately, by September 1st, I experienced some issues with the engine and received multiple error messages. After six weeks of investigation at two different dealerships, it was discovered that a ring was missing from one of the cylinders. Despite the unavailability of the ring or a head gasket, the dealership is installing a new engine. Rest assured, I am confident that this issue will be resolved and I will be able to enjoy my Buick for years to come.
