Bmw 335i problems
The fifth generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars is designated under the model codes E90 (saloon), E91 (estate, marketed as 'Touring'), E92 (coupé) and E93 (convertible). The model was introduced in December 2004, and produced by BMW until October 2013 and is often collectively referred to as the E90 or E9x.
The E9x saw the introduction of run-flat tyres to the 3 Series range. Models with run-flat tires are not equipped with a spare tyre. The E92 335i was the first 3 Series model produced with a turbocharged petrol engine. It was also the first 3 Series to include the iDrive operating system, which consists of navigation, infotainment and essential vehicle functions.
The E90/E92/E93 M3 is the only generation of M3 to be powered by a V8 engine. Introduced in 2007, it uses the BMW S65 naturally aspirated V8 engine and was produced in saloon, coupé and convertible body styles.
Following the introduction of the F30/F31 3 Series in February 2012, the E90/E91 saloons and estates were phased out. However due to their later introduction, the E92/E93 coupés and convertibles remained in production through the 2013 model year, after which they were replaced by the F32/F33 4 Series models.

Common Bmw 335i problems
The BMW 335i, produced from 2007 onwards, is known for several common problems that have been reported by owners. These issues are primarily related to the engine, cooling system, fuel pump, and electrical components.
- Cooling System Faults: The cooling system in the BMW 335i has been reported to have issues such as leaks and low coolant levels, even without any seal problems.
- Faulty Fuel Pumps: The high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) in the BMW 335i can fail, causing engine performance issues such as slow start-up, decreased performance, and the check engine light to illuminate.
- Electrical Problems: While not as common, there have been instances where the electrical system around the headlights has caused the vehicle to ignite, leading to severe fires and, in some cases, totaled vehicles.
- Rattling Noises: Some BMW 335i models, particularly those with the twin-turbo N54 engine, may experience rattling noises coming from under the hood. This issue is often due to the wastegate arm/rod functioning incorrectly, which can lead to a loss of power, smoke from the exhaust, and other symptoms.
- Radiator and Water Pump Issues: The BMW 335i has been known to have radiator leaks, radiator hose leaks, and water pump failures, which can result in overheating and potentially expensive repairs.
- Passenger-Side Airbag Tensioner Issues: Some BMW 335i models have experienced problems with the passenger-side airbag tensioner, which can affect the vehicle's safety features.
- Front Driveshaft Bolts: Front driveshaft bolts in the BMW 335i can become loose over time, leading to potential issues with the drivetrain.
When considering purchasing a BMW 335i, it's essential to be aware of these common problems and factor in potential repair costs. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent or mitigate some of these issues. Additionally, consulting the official BMW website, owner's manuals, and online forums dedicated to BMW owners can provide valuable information and support for addressing these problems. Authorized BMW service centers can also provide professional assistance in diagnosing and fixing these issues.
