Common Toyota Scion tc problems

Based on complaints from owners, common problems with Toyota Scion tC cars include:

  1. Excessive Oil Consumption: A prevalent issue reported across different model years, especially notable in the 2007 Scion tC. Owners have expressed concerns about the need to add oil frequently, with some needing to add a quart every 1,000 to 1,500 miles. This problem can lead to engine damage due to low oil levels.
  2. Sunroof Issues: Some Scion tC vehicles experience sunroof shuttering spontaneously without external impact. This problem can be frustrating for owners and may require repairs to address the malfunction.
  3. Valve Cover Gasket Leaks: The valve cover gasket in Scion tC cars is prone to developing oil leaks. This issue can lead to oil seepage, affecting engine performance and potentially causing damage if not addressed promptly.
  4. Clutch Release Bearing Noise: Over time, the clutch release bearing in Scion tC cars can become noisy. This noise can be bothersome for drivers and may indicate wear or potential issues with the clutch system that need attention.
  5. Mass Airflow Sensor Malfunction: The mass airflow sensor in some Scion tC vehicles is prone to malfunctioning over time. This can result in hard starting conditions and poor acceleration, impacting the overall performance of the vehicle.
  6. CV Boots Cracking: CV boots in Scion tC cars are susceptible to cracking, allowing dirt to enter the CV joint. This can lead to damage and cause sticky noises when accelerating, especially during turns.
  7. Blower Motor Failure: Some Scion tC vehicles experience sudden blower motor failure, necessitating replacement. This issue can affect the climate control system and the comfort of the vehicle's interior.
  8. Catalytic Converter Failure: In certain Scion tC cars, catalytic converters may fail between 100,000 and 150,000 miles. This can impact emissions control and may require replacement to ensure the vehicle meets environmental standards.
  9. Transmission Grinding Noises: Manual transmissions in some Scion tC cars develop grinding noises when shifting between gears. This issue, along with difficulty in engaging gears, can affect the driving experience and may indicate transmission problems.
  10. TPMS Sensor Malfunction: The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor in Scion tC cars can malfunction over time, causing the TPMS light to illuminate on the dashboard. This issue can affect tire pressure monitoring accuracy and may require sensor replacement.

These common problems highlight areas where Toyota Scion tC owners may encounter issues, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance and prompt attention to any signs of malfunction to ensure the longevity and reliability of their vehicles.

  • Summary: LITERALLY JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. ONLY TO LOOK INTO THE HISTORY OF THESE CARS AND SEE THAT THEY HAVE A FACTORY DEFECT THAT WAS NEVER PROFESSIONALLY TAKEN CARE OF. NOW ANYONE LIKE ME COMING INTO OWNERSHIP OF THESE VEHICLES ARE PUNISHED FOR SOMETHING WE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF NOR CAUSED.I WAS DRIVING MY CAR TODAY DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDTHE CAR JERKS AND DIES. IT WOULD RESTART AFTER THAT. NOW MIND YOU I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY VEHICLES AND KEEP ALL FLUIDS TO THEIR FACTORY SUGGESTED LEVELS. I FOUND OUT LATER THAT IT SPUN A BEARING THANKS TO THIS FACTORY OIL DEFECT. SO THE MONEY I JUST INVESTED INTO THIS CAR IS NOW A DONATION. AND I EITHER FIND A NEW CAR, BUY A NEW ENGINE OR REBUILD THE ENGINE. ALL FOR A PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA SOO UNPROFESSIONALLY HANDLED AND REFUSED TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF. NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAR COMPANIES KEEP SECRETS FROM THE PUBLIC BUT I'M SURE ONE THAT DOESN'T GIVE ONE IOTA OF A F!?@ ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS WOULD ALLOW SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO PASS BY WITHOUT RECTIFYING THE ISSUE AND MAKING IT RIGHT.
