Common Saturn Sc problems

Saturn SC cars are known for their reliability and fuel efficiency, but like any vehicle, they can experience certain problems over time. Here are some of the most common issues based on complaints from owners of Saturn SC cars:

  • Gas cap issues: Another common problem with Saturn SC cars is related to the gas cap. Some owners have reported issues with the gas cap not sealing properly, leading to fuel leaks and reduced fuel efficiency. This can be caused by a faulty gas cap or a damaged fuel filler neck.
  • Ignition module failure: Some Saturn SC models, particularly those from 2003 to 2007, have been known to experience ignition module failure. This can cause the engine to misfire or stall, and can be caused by a variety of factors, including worn or damaged spark plugs, faulty ignition coils, or a failing crankshaft position sensor.
  • Transmission issues: Transmission problems are a common complaint among Saturn SC owners, particularly those with automatic transmissions. These issues can include hard shifting, slipping, or refusal to shift into certain gears. Automatic transmission problems in Saturn SC cars can be caused by a variety of factors, including worn or damaged transmission components, low transmission fluid levels, or a failing transmission control module.
  • Wheel bearing failure: Some Saturn SC models, particularly those from 2007 to 2009, have been known to experience wheel bearing failure. This can cause a variety of symptoms, including noise or vibration when driving, and can be caused by a variety of factors, including worn or damaged wheel bearings, faulty wheel bearings, or improper wheel alignment.
  • Blown cooling fan fuse: Some Saturn SC models, particularly those from 2007 to 2009, have been known to experience blown cooling fan fuses. This can cause the car to overheat, and can be caused by a variety of factors, including a faulty cooling fan motor, a damaged wiring harness, or a failing relay.

Overall, Saturn SC cars are known for their reliability and fuel efficiency, but like any vehicle, they can experience certain problems over time. By staying on top of routine maintenance and addressing any issues promptly, Saturn SC owners can help ensure their cars continue to run smoothly for years to come.

THIS RESULTED IN THE STARTER COMPLETELY BURNING UP ON THE INSIDE. SMOKE WAS VISIBLE FROM THIS STARTER. THE KEY ALSO SLIPS OUT OF THE IGNITION IN ANY POSITION, INCLUDING WHEN THE ENGINE IS ON AND CAR IS MOVING. THERE IS A RECALL FROM GM AFFECTING SATURN IGNITION SWITCHES AND IGNITION CYLINDERS, BUT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE 2002 SATURNS EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME.

  • Date Of Incident: 2015-04-20
  • Date Complaint: 2015-05-04
  • VIN: 1G8ZY14722Z
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
  • Summary: I CONTACTED GM'S CUSTOMER SERVICE REGARDING MY IGNITION SWITCH WHICH IS STUCK ON ACCESSORY AND HAS BEEN DRAINING MY BATTERY. MY CAR WAS A YEAR BEFORE THE RECALLED IGNITION SWITCHES IN OTHER SATURN BUT AFTER SIGNIFICANT RESEARCH IT APPEARED TO BE SIMILAR ISSUES THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE RECALLS HAD. THEY REFERRED ME TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR A QUOTE AND SAID THAT THEY WOULD DETERMINE IF IT WOULD BE COVERED. WHEN I ARRIVED THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD SEEN MANY OF THESE ISSUES BUT GM ALWAYS REFUSED TO COVER AND THAT I SHOULD CALL THEM TO GET A CASE NUMBER. AFTER SPENDING 45 MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE TO DETERMINE IF I WAS ELIGIBLE I WAS THEN PASSED TO ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE WHO TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE THE IGNITION SWITCH DID NOT TURN WHILE DRIVING, IT WAS MY PROBLEM BECAUSE MY CAR IS OVER 10 YEARS OLD AND PARASITIC DRAINS WERE NOT THEIR REMIT. I ASKED IF THESE WERE IN THE SAME BATCH AS THE RECALLED SWITCHES BECAUSE THEY SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL FAULTY SWITCHES WITHIN THAT TIME FRAME AND THEY TOLD ME TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. I REACHED OUT TO THEIR DIGITAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS WHO WERE ABLE TO ISSUE ME A CASE NUMBER AND SAID THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME WITHIN 24 HOURS AND NO ONE CALLED. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT 2002 SWITCHES ARE INVESTIGATED FOR POSSIBLE RECALL ISSUES AND I HAVE MY CASE NUMBER ON FILE IN CASE ANYONE ACTUALLY HELPS ME THERE. *TR
