Lexus Gs460 problems
The Lexus GS (Japanese: レクサス・GS, Rekusasu GS) is an executive car (E-segment in Europe) manufactured and marketed by Lexus across four generations — launched in 1991 as the Toyota Aristo in Japan and as the Lexus GS for markets outside the JDM beginning in February 1993. It continued with the Toyota Aristo name for the Japanese market until January 2005.
Lexus marketed the GS as a performance sedan competing in the mid-luxury class, between its compact executive IS and large/flagship LS. The GS shared its chassis with one of Toyota's longest-running nameplates, the Toyota Crown premium sedans until 2011.
The GS featured six-cylinder engines and rear-wheel drive, with a V8 engines offered forall generations, and all-wheel drive and hybrid versions debuted in 2005. Previously, all-wheel drive versions were already made available in the Japanese-market S140 series Aristo. The first two generations had a Japanese domestic market equivalent, the Toyota Aristo (aristo is Greek for "the best"), which was sold from 1991 until the Lexus marque's domestic debut in 2005. Though largely identical in exterior and interior design, the GS and the Aristo differed in their engine and transmission combinations as well as equipment packages. The GS name stands for Grand Sedan. However, some Lexus importers use the backronymic name, Grand Sport.
The first generation Lexus GS began sales in the United States, Europe and selected Asian markets in 1993. It was originally introduced with an inline-six engine and exterior bodywork designed by Italdesign Giugiaro. The second generation model premiered in 1997, using a new platform, in-house styling, and adding a V8 version for the first time outside Japan. The third generation GS, which premiered globally for the 2006 model year, was produced in V6, V8, and hybrid versions, the latter known as the GS 450h. The third generation models were the first GS sedans to be badged as such in the Japanese domestic market.
The fourth generation Lexus GS premiered in August 2011 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where models introduced included the V6-powered GS 350, hybrid GS 450h, and performance-tuned F Sport variants. A lower-displacement V6 model, the GS 250, premiered at the Auto Guangzhou Exhibition in November 2011, targeted at Asian and European markets. In some markets such as North America and Asia, the GS shares the mid-size sedan category in the Lexus lineup with the front-wheel drive ES, serving as its rear-wheel-drive counterpart.
The GS was replaced in Europe by the Lexus ES from December 2018. The seventh generation ES is the first to be sold in Europe, replacing the GS in spite of being a front-wheel drive car. It went on sale from September 2018 in Russia, Turkey and other CIS markets and from December 2018 in Western and Central Europe. Production ended in August 2020.

The overall quality of the car is good, but it doesn't quite match up to the 2001 GS430 we previously owned. It's a fairly quick sport sedan, but during hard acceleration, there is a noticeable lag while the computer tries to configure cam timing and fuel mapping. The GS engine is de-tuned 40 hp from the LS460 version, which seems like a waste since there is 10% left on the table. The ten-quart oil changes can be a little costly, but perhaps that allows for a reserve since the engine uses 2+ quarts in a 5,000 mile service interval. We found that new spark plugs at 120,000 miles pepped it up some, but a failed ignition coil at 128,000 miles was a surprise. Although we expected more from Lexus, it's still a decent car. Unfortunately, the ABS unit failed at 154,000 miles and a new part costs $3000, which has to be programmed with special software to bleed brakes. It's frustrating that used ones are not an option since they all seem to fail. We decided to trade it in on a 2019 CPO NX300, which we are very happy with.

I'm so glad to hear that you've found a vehicle that you really love! It sounds like you've done a lot of research and have found the perfect car for you. The Lexus seems to offer a great combination of features, including good gas mileage, reliability, luxury, speed, acceleration, handling, great sound, and safety. It's always exciting to discover all the different features and toys that a new car has to offer. While BMW may have a lot of bells and whistles, it sounds like the Lexus offers the best value for your money. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

I've only had this vehicle for a week, but I must say it's truly an awesome car. It's smooth, quiet, and has plenty of power, with a great selection of gadgets. I particularly like the Mark Levinson system and the navigation system. I rated the interior as a '9' only because there are certain things you can't input on the nav system while driving. If not for that, I'd give it a '10'. I took this car on the highway this weekend and got 29.8 mpg, which far exceeds its listed highway mpg of 24. This car truly exceeded my expectations!

I recently acquired this car by trading in my 06 GS 300 AWD. I considered the BMW 335, but it felt too small, and the 535 was too expensive. After test driving the GS 460, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. Although I tried the GS 450h, I did not like the CVT. The 8-speed transmission on the GS shifts smoothly up and down, and I have never experienced any issues with it. I am currently using 18-inch accessory wheels with Dunlop M3 run-flat dedicated snow tires in Minnesota, and so far, it has performed better than the average RWD car in snow and ice. I am particularly fond of the new soft leather seats and upgraded stereo. I expect no problems with this fast car that also has good gas mileage (for a V8) and no iDrive!
