Common Lexus Es 300h problems
The Lexus ES 300h, a hybrid vehicle produced by the luxury division of Toyota, has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from its owners. These issues range from vehicle speed control malfunctions to unexpected braking and car refusal to start.
- Vehicle Speed Control Malfunctions: One of the most recurring problems with the Lexus ES 300h is the vehicle speed control system. This system controls the vehicle's speed and ensures that it's not going too fast or too slow in certain situations. However, the ES 300h has been reported to have issues with the system causing unexpected acceleration when parking, which can result in a crash. This problem has been reported mainly in the 2013 model, although some 2014 and 2015 models still seem to have hiccups.
- Unexpected Braking: The Lexus ES 300h has been reported to brake unexpectedly, which can be a safety hazard for drivers and passengers. This problem has been reported mainly in the 2014 model, which is rated as the worst model year for the ES 300h.
- Car Refuses To Start: The Lexus ES 300h has been reported to refuse to start after standing still or coolant leaks in the 2.5L engine. This problem has been reported mainly in newer models of the ES 300h.
- Loss Of Braking Assist: The Lexus ES 300h has been reported to lose braking assist, which can be a safety hazard for drivers and passengers. This problem has been reported mainly in the 2014 model, which is rated as the worst model year for the ES 300h.
- Hesitation During Acceleration: The Lexus ES 300h has been reported to hesitate during acceleration, which can be a safety hazard for drivers and passengers. This problem has been reported mainly in newer models of the ES 300h.
It is important to note that while these problems have been reported by some owners, the Lexus ES 300h has also been praised for its reliability and safety features. The ES 300h has been rated as a highly reliable vehicle by J.D. Power, with a low probability of severe or major issues. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider them when making a purchasing decision.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I noticed that you were looking for a vehicle with a roomy back seat, good fuel economy, and AWD or front-wheel drive for driving in snow. I've had a few German vehicles in the past, like the Mercedes GL320, Porsche Boxter, VW Touareg, CC, and GTI, because I really enjoy how they drive. Recently, I came across the 2013 Lexus ES300 and was pleasantly surprised by its features. With 40 inches of rear legroom and 40 mpg in the city and on the highway, it's definitely worth considering. Plus, it uses regular fuel, which is much more convenient than the premium fuel my German cars required. Although I used to think that Lexus styling was a bit bland, the new horizontal dash is much more stylish and resembles the BMW styling. What do you think?

The car drives smoothly with minimal road noise, making for a quiet cabin. The headlights are also very bright, which is great. What's even better is that it takes less gas to go places, averaging 36 miles per gallon. Overall, I'm really loving it so far!

This car is excellent with a quiet and comfortable ride. It also has great fuel efficiency, although it does sacrifice some performance with its 4 cylinder 156 HP engine. One downside is that the engine noise can be quite loud when accelerating, even in sport mode. Additionally, the price of the car is quite high at 46k for a 4 cylinder CVT hybrid engine, which may not be worth the investment. If you're looking for a more affordable option, the Lexus ES350 v6/268 HP is highly recommended and costs 3k less than the ES300H.

Hello! I have a great deal of knowledge about high and low maintenance vehicles, having managed luxury sales departments at dealerships. In early 2017, I purchased my 2013 ES300h with 89K miles on it. Now, with 236,000 miles, I am happy to report that nothing has broken, failed, or torn. The leather seats are still in great shape, and the CV joints have never been replaced. Even the original brake pads and 12v battery are still going strong! In my opinion, this car is an unbelievable luxury vehicle that goes beyond just heated and cooled seats. It is reliable and enjoyable perfection. The only downside is that the ride quality is not as good as the previous body style. Thank you for reading!

The car was purchased in September 2013, after trading in the 2007 ES350. Upon starting the car and putting it in reverse, a noticeable thumping noise can be heard. This noise is also present when the car is in idle, such as when waiting at a traffic light, and it sounds like the battery is switching to gas. Despite driving the car in ECO mode, the advertised 39 to 40 mpg has not been achieved, with the car only averaging 30 mpg at an average speed of 29mph. The parchment interior is prone to getting dirty quickly, and the interior amenities are not as generous as those of the older ES350. Overall, while the car is satisfactory, it does not justify the premium price over the ES350.

I'd like to start by saying that I believe the issues I had with my brand new 2014 Lexus ES300H were due to a defective car, and not consistent with others. I simply have to assume this is the case. Unfortunately, I had two major issues that were never resolved, which forced me to break the lease and sell the car. The first issue was a large rattle that occurred when the car reached about 30 miles an hour, lasting a few seconds. I took it to the Santa Monica Lexus repair shop, and although they identified the issue as being the heat shield and repaired it, the problem returned. After two more visits, I decided to take it to another Lexus repair shop, who stated that the sound was 'normal' and therefore didn't want to repair it. The second problem had to do with the A/C, which emitted a mildew smell each time I started the car with the A/C already in the 'ON' position. I was told this was caused by a buildup of water in the engine area, which was also considered 'normal'. The advice was to turn the AC off before starting the car, which I found ridiculous for a brand new car. Due to these two issues and the terrible service, I decided to bite the bullet and get out of the lease, at a significant cost. Although I am happy to be rid of the car, I am disappointed with my experience and will not be purchasing a Lexus again.

The fuel efficiency is significantly lower than expected, with only 26 mpg achieved under normal driving conditions, split evenly between highway and city driving. Despite maintaining a reasonable speed of 65 mph and utilizing eco mode, the results were disappointing. This falls short of the expected standards and requires further attention.

I purchased this car with great satisfaction and enjoyed it thoroughly. However, I have recently experienced some issues with the hybrid system and engine, resulting in unexpected shutdowns while driving. Despite taking the car to the dealer and leaving it with them for a week, they were unable to identify the problem. Unfortunately, the issue persisted and I had to call for a tow truck. I am confident that the dealer will eventually identify and resolve the issue.

I understand that this may be hard to believe, but I have had a difficult experience with Lexus USA customer service. I had to do all the follow-up myself. While the car itself is fine, I have had a negative experience with the optional Mark Levinson sound system. I would not recommend purchasing this option. Despite my reasonable approach with the customer care representatives, they did not seem to care. If something is not done about the sound system, this will unfortunately be the last Lexus I purchase.
