Common Kia Ev9 problems

Based on complaints from owners of the Kia EV9, several common problems have been reported:

  • Quality Control: Early quality issues have been reported, leading to concerns about the overall reliability of the Kia EV9. These quality control problems have contributed to a decrease in sales and customer satisfaction. The Ministry of Transport in South Korea issued recalls for the EV9 due to multiple issues, highlighting potential safety and performance concerns.
  • Unresponsiveness: Some owners have faced instances where their Kia EV9 becomes completely unresponsive, failing to start or respond to key or app commands. This issue has led to inconveniences and required assistance from service centers to diagnose and resolve the problem. Reports suggest that such unresponsiveness could be linked to software bugs overriding critical functions of the vehicle.
  • Sensor Malfunctions: Complaints have surfaced regarding sensor malfunctions in the Kia EV9, particularly related to front sensors. Owners have reported issues with sensors needing replacement and causing persistent beeping sounds during driving, affecting the overall driving experience and comfort of the vehicle.

These problems highlight various challenges faced by Kia EV9 owners, ranging from software-related issues impacting functionality to quality control concerns affecting the overall reliability of the vehicle. Addressing these issues is crucial for Kia to enhance customer satisfaction and maintain a positive reputation in the electric vehicle market.

What is the recall on the EV9?

Recall no. Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2023 Niro EV and 2024 EV9 vehicles. The differential gear bolts in the gear drive unit may not be tightened properly, which can result in a loss of drive power or cause the differential to lock up.

Is the Kia EV9 worth buying?

People on a budget who have a Level 2 home charging station will find the Kia EV9 Light appealing. It has a rear-mounted electric motor good for 201 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and a 76.1-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery providing 230 miles of range.

How is the Kia EV9 selling?

The EV9 sold a whopping 1,113 units in its first month in the US market, significantly contributing to KIA's recent success and future electrification plans. The explosive success of the EV9 is a clear indicator of Kia's strategic foresight in the EV market, and how demand for BEVs is on the rise.

Does the Kia EV9 qualify for tax credits?

Kia currently makes the EV9 in South Korea but will move production to its U.S. plant in West Point, Georgia, by the end of May, according to James Bell, head of corporate communications at Kia America. This will allow the car to qualify for a partial EV tax credit.

There is always a subtle vibration on speed around 70mph where the cup holders in the middle of front seats vibrates, the driver seat and steering vibrates and creates a unpleasant and disturbing driving experience which can lead to anything worse. Kia Ev9 2024
  • Date Of Incident: 2024-10-01
  • Date Complaint: 2024-10-22
  • VIN: KNDADFS5XR6
  • Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE
  • Summary: When the vehicle is in adaptive cruise mode and tracking a lane with Lane Keeping Assistance, if the lines on the road widen beyond a certain point (perhaps 3-5ft wider than a normal lane), the vehicle will suddenly stop maintaining the lane with no audio warning or significant visual indicator. As the driver should always be paying attention, it is the lack of an audio warning that is the major concern. On a straight road, the vehicle will slowly begin to drift out of the lane. However, when this happens on a curve, the vehicle will suddenly stop steering around the corner, and throw the vehicle out of the lane in a dangerous way. This happens all the time when the lane widens, which I often experience on newer freeways with wider lanes. If a fix can't be provided for the system shutting down, it at least needs an audio warning indicator so the driver is alerted to what is happening and can safely take control.

Latest negative Kia Ev9 car reviews

  1. Watson Parker 2024-11-29

    Vehicle year: 2024

During the first month of owning my KIA, I experienced some issues with the car. It was in the shop for 16 days and stalled in the middle of the road when I hit the brakes to avoid a crash. Although the brakes worked well, the car would only idle after that. Additionally, when we tried to use the converter, it broke our home Telsa charger. Despite these challenges, I am confident that these issues can be resolved and I am working with the dealer to find a solution. I am also actively seeking out chargers that work with my car. Thank you for your understanding.

    Vehicle year: 2024

Driving is so much more enjoyable and secure with all of these safety features!

  2. Cullen Johns 2024-09-28

    Vehicle year: 2024

I absolutely adore this car! It's perfect for everyone and drives like a dream - so smooth and comfortable. The sound system is great, although it could use a little more bass. The back row is a hit with the kids on road trips, thanks to the charging outlets and high-quality seats. It's amazing how quickly it charges - I've even had to cut my zen moments short because it reaches 80% faster than I expect! The acceleration is fantastic and the car is so quiet on the road, it's almost eerie. I've driven sporty Subarus and huge Land Cruisers all over the world, but I've never been as excited for my morning commute as I am in this car.
