Common 1991 Jeep Wagoneer problems
The Jeep Wagoneer, produced between 1984 and 1991, is known for its spacious and comfortable cabin, capable four-wheel drive system, and distinctive styling. However, it also has several common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most common issues is engine problems, particularly with the V-8 engine, which was the standard power plant from 1987 to 1991.
Another problem reported by owners is issues with the heating and cooling system. Some owners have reported that their rear heater failed, followed by their front heater, due to a "bad heating module" that was recalled for repairs.
In addition to these specific issues, the Jeep Wagoneer has a relatively high estimated annual repair cost of $691, with 15% of those repairs expected to be severe in nature. This is higher than average, but still not particularly high for a luxury vehicle.
It's worth noting that while there are some common problems with the Jeep Wagoneer, many owners report that the vehicle is generally reliable and easy to work on, with inexpensive parts for rebuilding transfer cases, transmissions, and differentials. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common issues and factor them into their decision-making process.
