Jeep Compass 4x4 problems

The Jeep Compass is a compact crossover SUV introduced for the 2007 model year, and is currently in its second generation. The first generation Compass and Patriot, its rebadged variant, were among Jeep's first crossover SUVs. The second-generation Compass debuted in September 2016 in Brazil and at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2016, sharing a modified platform with the Renegade. It is positioned between the smaller Renegade and the larger Cherokee globally or the Commander in South America.

Concept

Four years prior to the introduction of the production Jeep Compass, a concept vehicle with the same name had its world premiere in Detroit at the 2002 North American International Auto Show. It featured a two-door body, all-wheel drive and a 3.7-liter V6 engine.

The 3.7 L Power-Tech V6 engine from the Jeep Liberty was not available in the new Compass for 2007, though the production model Compass kept the concept car's styling cues and some of its features. The production model Compass also had four doors instead of the two doors on the concept car.

Common Jeep Compass 4x4 problems

The Jeep Compass 4x4 has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues include transmission problems, powertrain issues, suspension issues, steering issues, and poor fuel economy.

One of the most common issues is transmission problems, with many owners complaining about harsh shifting, jerking, and hesitation when the vehicle is in gear. Some owners have even reported that their vehicles have completely failed to shift into gear, leaving them stranded. The cause of these transmission issues is not entirely clear, but some experts believe that it may be related to the Compass’s nine-speed automatic transmission, which is known for having issues with shifting smoothly.

Another problem that owners of the 2019-2022 Jeep Compass are experiencing is powertrain issues. Specifically, many owners are reporting that their vehicles are experiencing a loss of power or stalling while driving. Some owners have even reported that their vehicles have completely shut down while on the highway. The cause of these powertrain issues is not entirely clear, but some experts believe that it may be related to the Compass’s 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which is known for having issues with stalling and losing power.

Suspension issues are also a common problem for the Jeep Compass. Many owners are reporting that their vehicles are experiencing a rough ride, with excessive bouncing and vibrations. Some owners have even reported that their vehicles have completely failed to ride smoothly. The cause of these suspension issues is not entirely clear, but some experts believe that it may be related to the Compass’s suspension system, which is known for having issues with bouncing and vibrations.

Steering issues are another common problem for the Jeep Compass, with many owners reporting that their vehicles are experiencing a loss of power steering or a hard to turn steering. The cause of these steering issues is not entirely clear, but some experts believe that it may be related to the Compass’s steering system, which is known for having issues with power steering and hard to turn steering.

Poor fuel economy is also a common problem for the Jeep Compass. Many owners are reporting that their vehicles are not getting the fuel economy that they were expecting. The cause of these fuel economy issues is not entirely clear, but it may be related to the Compass’s 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which is known for having issues with fuel efficiency.

It is important to note that these are common problems based on complaints from owners, and not all Jeep Compass 4x4 vehicles will experience these issues. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider them when making their purchasing decision. Additionally, it is recommended that potential buyers take the Jeep Compass 4x4 for a test drive and have it inspected by a qualified mechanic before making a final decision.
