Jaguar Xj12 problems
The Jaguar XJ is a series of mid-size/full-size luxury cars produced by British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars (becoming Jaguar Land Rover in 2013) from 1968 to 2019. It was produced across five basic platform generations (debuting in 1968, 1986, 1994, 2003, and 2009) with various updated derivatives of each. From 1970, it was Jaguar's flagship four-door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have been designed under the leadership of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances.
Series 1, 2, and 3 (1968–1992)
Overview
The first generation Jaguar XJ was produced for a total period of 24 years, with two major facelifts – in 1973 and in 1979, with a raised front bumper and less tall grilles.
For four years, the 1968 introduced XJ was always a four-door, straight-six saloon on a 2.76 m (108.75 in) wheelbase. In 1972, a more spacious, 4-inch (10 cm) longer wheelbase (LWB) option, and a 5.3 litre V12 engine were added. On the XJ series II (from 1973), the standard wheelbase (SWB) saloons were cancelled in 1974 – but a SWB two-door (series II only) coupé was sold from 1975–1978.
The 1979 series III saloons received a redesigned greenhouse (upper body) and bumpers. The 6-cylinder series III models were replaced by the second generation Jaguar XJ in 1987, but the V12 models not until 1992.

Common Jaguar Xj12 problems
The Jaguar XJ12 is a luxury car that was produced from 1972 to 1996 and is known for its powerful V12 engine and sleek styling. However, like any car, the XJ12 has its share of common problems that owners have reported over the years.
One common issue with the Jaguar XJ12 is problems with the fuel system, which can manifest in various ways such as issues with fuel pumps, fuel injectors, and the fuel filter. In some cases, the fuel injectors can become clogged or stop working altogether, causing the engine to run poorly or not start at all. These problems can often be resolved by replacing the faulty components or performing a fuel system flush.
Another common issue with the XJ12 is related to the suspension system, particularly with the air suspension on the XJ12L model. The air suspension is known to fail, resulting in a bumpy ride and poor handling. Additionally, the suspension components, such as the shocks and bushings, can wear out over time and require replacement.
Electrical issues are also a common problem with the XJ12, which can manifest in a variety of ways, from problems with the starter motor or alternator to issues with the car's lights and electronics. Faulty wiring, corroded connectors, and failing components can all contribute to these issues.
Finally, rust is a common problem with the XJ12, particularly in areas with harsh winter weather or high humidity. Regular maintenance, such as washing and waxing the car and inspecting for rust, can help prevent these issues from becoming more serious.
It's worth noting that the XJ12 was produced in several different generations and model years, and some issues may be more common in certain models than others.
In summary, while the Jaguar XJ12 is a luxurious and powerful car, it is not without its common problems. However, many of these issues can be resolved with regular maintenance and repairs by a qualified mechanic.
