Specifications and performance

The F8 Tributo uses the same engine from the 488 Pista, a 3.9 L twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a power output of 720 PS (530 kW; 710 hp) at 8000 rpm and 770 N⋅m (568 lb⋅ft) of torque at 3250 rpm, making it the most powerful V8-powered Ferrari produced to date. The exhaust layout and the Inconel manifolds have been completely modified up to the terminals. The F8 Tributo also uses turbo rev sensors, developed in the 488 Challenge, to maximise the efficiency of the turbochargers based on the demand for power from the pedal. The transmission is a 7-speed dual clutch automatic unit with improved gear ratios.

Several new software features are installed on the F8 which are controlled via the manettino dial on the steering wheel. The car is equipped with Ferrari's latest Side Slip Angle Control traction- and stability-control program. Additionally, the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, an electronic program for managing drifts, can now be used in the Race drive mode. Ferrari also stated that the Tributo's downforce has been increased by 15 percent as compared to the 488 GTB.

Claimed manufacturer performance for the F8 Tributo is 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 2.9 seconds, 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph) in 7.6 seconds, with a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph). Road & Track tested a US-spec Ferrari F8 Tributo model and achieved an 10.3-second quarter-mile time with a 132.8 mph (214 km/h) trap speed, which equates to 0–100 km/h in the mid-3 range and 0–200 km/h in the low-10 range.

Common Ferrari F8 tributo problems

The Ferrari F8 Tributo, the successor to the 488GTB, is a powerful and technologically advanced supercar. However, it has some common problems that have been reported by its owners.

One of the most significant issues with the F8 Tributo is its sound. Like many modern turbocharged mid-engine speed machines, the F8 Tributo's exhaust note is not as thrilling as one might expect from a Ferrari. The car's twin-turbo V-8 engine produces a low baritone sound that doesn't match its 8000-rpm redline, leading to a disappointing aural experience for some drivers and passengers.

Another issue reported by F8 Tributo owners is the occasional difficulty in starting the engine. In such cases, the owner is advised to check for a flat battery, faulty electrical contacts or ignition system, or a blown fuel pump fuse, similar to the issues faced in older cars.

The F8 Tributo also has a recall on the Lexan back window/cover, which affects some 2020 models. The service manager of a dealership reported receiving a call from the service manager regarding a recall on the Lexan back window/cover of a 2020 F8 Tributo sent in for service.

Furthermore, the F8 Tributo's wooden brakes have been criticized for requiring a firm touch, which can be challenging to get used to, especially for those who are new to Ferrari cars. This issue has been reported in other Ferrari models as well, and it can lead to a less than optimal braking experience.

Lastly, the F8 Tributo's engine and exhaust noise, while powerful and impressive, may not be as orchestral and masterful as some of its predecessors, such as the 458's NA V8 engine.

In summary, the Ferrari F8 Tributo is a powerful and technologically advanced supercar that offers thrilling performance. However, its owners have reported some common issues, such as its sound, occasional difficulty in starting the engine, a recall on the Lexan back window/cover, wooden brakes, and a less than perfect engine and exhaust noise compared to some of its predecessors.
