Buick Regal tourx problems
The Buick Regal is a line of mid-size cars marketed by Buick since 1973. For nearly its entire production, the Regal has served as the premium mid-size/intermediate offering of the Buick product range. Introduced as a submodel of the Buick Century, the model line is currently in its sixth generation. From the 1970s to the 1990s, the Regal served as the Buick counterpart of the Pontiac Grand Prix and Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
Originally introduced as a personal luxury coupe, the Regal was later expanded to a full model line. To showcase its success in NASCAR racing, from 1982 to 1987, Buick introduced the Buick Regal Grand National, Regal T-Type, and the limited-production Buick GNX. During the 1990s, while the four-door sedan superseded the two-door coupe entirely, forced-induction engines made their return, with superchargers replacing turbochargers.
For 1999, the Buick Regal inaugurated the sale of GM vehicles in the Chinese market, with the 1997 design lasting through 2008. Following the 2004 model year, Buick retired the nameplate in North America, with the Regal replaced by the Buick LaCrosse.
For 2008, Opel introduced the Opel Insignia as its largest sedan, with Buick rebranding the model line as the Regal for the Chinese market. For 2011, GM reintroduced the Regal to North America, rebranding the Insignia sedan for North America. For 2018, Buick introduced the second-generation Opel Insignia, sourcing all production from Germany; alongside a first-ever liftback sedan, the Regal TourX was the first Buick station wagon in 22 years.
After 2020, as the division shifted away from car model lines, Buick ended sales of the Regal in North America.

Common Buick Regal tourx problems
The Buick Regal TourX has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. These issues span across different model years and are related to various aspects of the car.
- Air Conditioner Hose: A faulty air conditioner hose was reported in the 2019 Regal TourX, indicating potential issues with the car's cooling system.
- Engine Light: The "service engine soon" light has been reported to turn on in the 2018 Regal TourX, suggesting possible engine problems or malfunctions.
- Roadside Tire Repair: Issues with roadside tire repair have been reported in the 2018 Regal TourX, which may point to problems with the car's tires or wheels.
- Interior and HVAC Problems: Complaints about the interior and HVAC system have also been reported. For instance, the power distribution module needed to be replaced in a 2018 Regal TourX, and some owners have expressed dissatisfaction with the car's interior quality.
It is important to note that these issues do not necessarily affect every Buick Regal TourX and may vary depending on the specific model year and individual vehicle. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider them when making a purchasing decision.
Why was the Buick Regal TourX discontinued?
However, almost everyone agrees that the market shifting to more SUV-heavy demand had the greatest impact on the Regal's discontinuation. In 2019, Buick reported that SUVs accounted for 90% of sales.
What is the ride quality of the Buick Regal TourX?
Comfort is a Buick specialty, and the TourX is no different. But this isn't a Buick boat ride of yesteryear. It is a buttoned-down and quiet ride that, despite the TourX's impressive handling capability, still delivers trademark Buick ride comfort. But there's a bit more wind noise than we'd expect.
Is the Buick Regal a reliable car?
According to carparts.com, the Buick Regal is generally reliable, like many midsize sedans. Out of 34 rated sedans, the Buick Regal is ranked 13th for reliability. In other words, it's about as reliable on average as many other sedans of its type.
How many miles per gallon does a Buick Regal TourX get?
21/29 mpg city/highway
According to EPA estimates, the 2020 Buick Regal TourX achieves mileage of 21/29 mpg city/highway. That makes it a less fuel-efficient choice than competing models such as the Outback (up to 26/33 mpg) and the Volvo V60 (23/34 mpg).

- Components: LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION
- Summary: Rear camera and cross traffic warning system malfunctions randomly, working less than half the time. When the vehicle is put in reverse the system and camera often do not work and issue a notice that it needs serviced. On several occasions it did not warn me of a person behind my vehicle or another vehicle behind me. I have avoided accidents but the system is not working. I have been reading about it and it is common among this vehicle, many complaining that this is the worst rear collision camera on a car. The screen is just black, sometimes with grid lines and sometimes without. On the rare occasion the camera turns on the grid lines often disappear although they are not turned off.

- Date Of Incident: 2020-09-01
- Date Complaint: 2024-01-28
- VIN: W04GV8SX8L1
- Components: BACK OVER PREVENTION
- Summary: Ever since we purchased the vehicle new in 2020 we had an issue with intermittent mulfunction of the parking and cross traffic alerts indicators. The backup camera screen often fails to indicate whether there is cross traffic and from which side. The issue is present about 8/10 times. While the vehicle was under warranty we took it multiple times to two GM dealerships. Technicians updated the vehicle software but the issue remained. It is now going on 4th year that we don't know whether a parking sensor is beeping from our angled driveway or if there is a vehicle approaching from either (and which side!?) of our street, rendering these optional safety feature unreliable. In addition to documenting the issue when visiting the dealerships I also extensively documented the issue as it occurred by photographing the alert system and milage odometer in the same photo frame. One such recent photo is attached. There is a vehicle approaching but the visual indicator is absent. Despite more than ample patience with GM the company inaction on this safety problem remains.

I have contacted both the Dealership and Manufacturer (Buick) current Case # 9-10190079245 twice and Buick (Corporate) is trying to contact the Key GM Buick Dealership to confirm the Recall work has been done and if done, then remove the still pending Recall notice that is still showing the Recall still needs to be done.

When we pulled over to see what it was, the front passenger’s side seat belt buckle release no longer worked but the seat belt came out without resistance. It has not worked since. The dealer has confirmed the issue but says the part is back ordered without estimated delivery date. By the way, I have looked for parts in junkyards. I have found junk yards with TourXes but not this part as it has already been sold. I have the part if you want to inspect it.

I recently traded in my 2015 GMC Acadia for a Buick wagon and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is. The car has a lot of room inside and the engine has great pick up while still being economical. In fact, I am getting 28.3 MPG combined in the first 1500 miles! The interior is comfortable and has a sporty feel to it. Although the ground clearance is a little lower than what is usually desired in a car like this, the stance makes it appear very sporty. The 2.0L 4cyl does a great job in acceleration and has plenty of pickup. The 8 spd transmission is nice for econ, but sometimes at slow speeds it shifts around a bit too much trying to find the right gear. The infotainment touchscreen and Car Play are very nice and handy. Overall, I am loving the car. I wish Buick would have advertised it a bit more as it slides into a nice space between those that want a Subaru Outback and those that want a sporty Audi Allroad or Volvo. Definitely worth finding one and going for a drive in one!

Congratulations on your purchase of a used 2018 loaded Essence model with 68K! It sounds like you made an excellent choice for your 35-mile commute to work each day. You were looking for a practical, powerful, and fuel-efficient vehicle that looks good, and this wagon checked all the boxes. It's great that you found a vehicle that fits your driving style and doesn't sacrifice fuel economy for handling. While you mentioned that you're not a huge fan of the rear end design, the rest of the car more than makes up for it. The exterior is sleek and could easily be mistaken for a Mercedes or BMW. The interior is also a standout feature, with soft materials in all the right places and convenient controls that are easy to use. The ambiance lighting strips are a nice touch, especially at night. The LTG 2.0L turbo engine is a true gem and a significant improvement over previous four-cylinder engines you've owned. Overall, it sounds like you're very happy with your purchase, and we wish you many happy miles ahead! The car has impressive power and diesel-like torque in all normal driving situations, making it effortless to drive. The transmission is geared for fuel economy, but you can use the manual mode if you want to drive more spiritedly. The AWD system works imperceptibly, making it easy to stoplight drag race in the rain. The car handles extremely well for its size while maintaining a smooth ride. However, there is not much center console storage, which may be an issue for some. Additionally, the blind spot monitor does not have an audible alert when attempting to change lanes with a car beside you, which defeats the purpose of BSM. Overall, this car is a dream to drive and handles exceptionally well.Is it just me or is there no ventilated seat option on a 2018 with black leather? That seems like a terrible omission. Additionally, I found it odd that a highly equipped 2018 vehicle doesn't have front parking sensors or a camera. The huge sunroof glass over my head has some creaking at slow speeds or on rough pavement, but turning up the radio solves that issue. The start/stop system can be very annoying at times, shutting down the engine anytime you come to a stop, even if it's just for a few seconds. I wish there was a way to be more selective about when it shuts down. Selecting manual transmission mode defeats it, but it can be a chore to remember. On the bright side, the 2.0L LTG engine is great, although it's known for leaking oil at the bottom of the timing chain cover, even on new cars. Mine seeps a bit, but so far no drips. I suspect it's been that way for a long time and hopefully won't get worse. Special mention goes to the LED headlights, which are AWESOME and illuminate the road in all conditions better than anything I've ever driven. In conclusion, I'm super glad I bought this car and have zero regrets. I've put about 3K on it since owning it and it's definitely my favorite for a comfortable commute.

I bought a 2018 Regal TourX Preferred as new from a Buick dealer in February 2020 and I'm thrilled with it so far! Although I planned to drive it a lot in the past year, I've only put 8k miles on the car. The car gets 27 mpg in town and well over 30 at 70 mph on the highway. The front driver's seat is incredibly comfortable, the controls are ergonomic and work well, the back seat has tons of leg room, the cargo area is large and easily accessible, the Bose sound system is fantastic, the car is very quiet, and the additional options are great (the tailgate opening with a foot wave, the cross-traffic warning, leather seats, etc.). I do have two minor issues with the car. Firstly, the interior bits seem to be a bit less durable than I would like, and I question whether the interior will hold up as well as some other cars in this class. Time will tell. Secondly, the two cupholders in front of the shifter are a bit inaccessible and are small. However, I can live with that. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and I intend to keep it for as long as possible - especially since they aren't making them anymore!

47000 miles. One issue with front bushings in cold weather, which was fixed under warranty. This car is great for highway driving, achieving 31/32 mpg at 75 mph. Although they are not very common, I love this car and enjoy driving it. As a car enthusiast, I am baffled by the SUV craze. Fortunately, I have not experienced any issues with this car, except for one recall.

I had the pleasure of driving the Opel Tourx in Europe as my company car for several months and was thoroughly impressed with its quality, performance, and quietness. When I learned that it would be available in the US, I eagerly ordered one with every option. Unfortunately, upon receiving the car, I experienced some issues such as a loose door panel, a tailgate sensor hanging down, and a noisy cabin. However, the dealership was quick to address these issues and had the car for a week to correct them. Although the cabin noise level was still not to my liking, the dealership and Buick customer service assured me that it was within the normal range. While I ultimately decided to purchase a different vehicle with a quieter cabin, I appreciate the efforts of the dealership to address my concerns. I have no doubt that GM is committed to producing high-quality vehicles and I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

There is a known issue with the 8 Speed transmission, which has resulted in a class action lawsuit. Despite having less than 4000 miles on my car, I have experienced slipping and difficulty shifting between gears. I reported the issue to the dealer a month ago, but unfortunately, the problem has persisted and even worsened. As a result, I do not feel safe driving this car and would not recommend it to others. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I didn't have much time to determine if this car was worth the investment. Unfortunately, I had an accident and discovered that GM has discontinued the vehicle. The parts required to repair the car are not available since GM has not developed the parts supply and is not willing to do a separate run. This means that the car cannot legally be driven, so I'm stuck with paying hundreds in a car payment without being able to drive it or risking my credit by letting it be repossessed. It's a frustrating situation, but I'm hopeful that it will be resolved soon. UPDATE: Buick finally came up with the parts and my repaired Buick was returned to me in mid-Dec, 5 months after bringing it to the body shop. I still haven't had the chance to drive it much due to COVID-19 crisis issues, but it seems like a nice car. I reserve judgment until I have an opportunity to operate it regularly for a while. At the moment, I dislike that it does not run well on regular gas. They should be more overt with the 'runs better on high-octane fuel' warning vs hiding it in small print in the owners manual. However, I do appreciate the performance when I DO use high-octane fuel. UPDATE Oct 2020: I went on 2 long trips (3000 mi round trip) and planning a 3rd. Gas mileage is not great and premium fuel is pricey, but the performance and comfort were good. The car has solid storage capacity for 2 persons with 10 day's of luggage each. I had another problem with parts availability when a side window was broken and it took 2 weeks to get a replacement, though part of that was Safelite's fault. The electronics are good, but there are too many re-boots requiring a stop, turn off, and turn car back on. It can be frustrating if traveling. UPDATE 4/26/2021: Approaching 30K miles. No changes. Overall, the car is comfortable, but the cost of premium fuel is rising. The turbo charged engine provides very good performance (while using premium fuel). The problem with electronics is not as evident when traveling locally. The car has good storage capacity and no out of the ordinary maintenance issues.

At 795 miles, the service engine soon light came on. The dealership was unable to locate the vacuum leak and reset the computer. At 1135 miles, the light came on again. The dealership was able to locate the leak and replace the necessary part. Unfortunately, at 1350 miles, the light came on again. I will be taking it back today and expressing my concerns to the management. It is disappointing that the car has been experiencing these issues, but I am hopeful that the dealership will be able to resolve them soon.
