The BMW 3 Series is a line of compact executive cars manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. It is the successor to the 02 Series and has been produced in seven generations.

The first generation of the 3 Series was only available as a 2-door saloon; the model range expanded to include a 4-door saloon, 2-door convertible, 2-door coupé, 5-door estate, 5-door liftback ("Gran Turismo") and 3-door hatchback body styles. Since 2013, the coupé and convertible models have been marketed as the 4 Series, styles no longer included in the 3 Series.

The 3 Series is BMW's best-selling model, accounting for around 30% of the BMW brand's annual total car sales, and has won numerous awards throughout its history.

The M version of the 3 series, M3, debuted with the E30 M3 in 1986.

Common Bmw 328xit problems

The BMW 328xi is known for a few common issues that owners have reported. One of the most frequently mentioned problems is a rattling or static noise coming from the front passenger side of the car.

Another common issue with the BMW 328xi is related to the cluster gauges. Owners have reported that the gauge needles may go crazy, either not turning on or bouncing erratically. Additionally, the ABS, DTC, Red Brake light, Service lights, and other warning lights may go off. This issue may be related to the battery, and replacing it has resolved the problem for some owners. However, other issues may arise, such as the car hesitating when starting, a yellow brake light appearing, and an I-drive malfunction symbol coming up. In some cases, these issues may be related to the RDC box, which can be replaced, although it may cost around $250.

The BMW 328xi is also known for several other common problems, including issues with the valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket, eccentric shaft sensor, starter, water pump, and drive belt. These issues are not unique to the 328xi and may be found in other BMW models as well.

In summary, the BMW 328xi has several common issues that owners have reported, including rattling or static noises coming from the front passenger side, cluster gauge problems, and various mechanical issues. While some of these problems may be relatively easy to resolve, others may require more extensive repairs or replacement parts.
