Parked car overnight and went to dealership next morning. Car drove on highway and car seemed fine. Dealership scan car and received code P0847, tech cleared code and test drove car. Problem can not be reproduced.

I was in desperate need of a new car, and had been searching for one that fit my needs and budget. On a Saturday in August 2015, I visited several dealerships but was left feeling frustrated and disappointed. However, when I pulled into the Toyota lot, I was pleasantly surprised by their selection. I test drove the car twice, and felt a bit guilty for putting miles on it, but the staff were very accommodating and allowed me to drive it until the following Monday. I have now been driving this car for almost a year, and I still love it! It handles great on the highway, and the sport mode switch is a nice feature. I also appreciate the fact that I can go to the gas station without cringing, as I get just over 400 miles on a tank. The display monitor and back up cam are also great features that come standard. While the backseat may not be ideal for extremely tall passengers, it is still comfortable and the trunk space is surprisingly large for a compact car. Overall, I highly recommend this car to anyone in the market for a new vehicle.

The EPA sticker claims 42 mpg on open roads, but I have been able to achieve even better results, with over 50 mpg on long trips. This was the main reason why I decided to buy this car. However, I must admit that my initial impression of the car faded quickly once I noticed how poorly the rubber seals and plastic shields fit. It reminded me of a child's toy. These issues were not noticeable until I hand washed the car for the first time. I noticed that a good amount of water drained from the doors, which was three or four times more than normal. Water even entered and exited around the mirror mounts at garden hose pressures, which could lead to rust issues quickly. On the other hand, the engine compartment and trunk seem to be quite water-tight. The paint is nicely sprayed, but it is unfortunately very soft and easily chips and scratches with even a medium-sized bug impact. The 'party' metallic and dark colors do not do this cheap material finishing any favors. It is pure eye candy with no substance. There is so little clear on this car that Perfect-it II is iffy. Additionally, the special 'only tire' available to suit the computer's roll-out and 'J' flange alloy wheels, which even the factory seems not to care about, considering the inboard flange mounted wheel weights. It is surprising to see a painted wheel with tape weight in the visible area only. Corrosion is corrosion, no matter which side of the wheel it's on. At least the tires are not priced silly, if you can find one. The nose of the car is a love it or hate it thing, but I personally like it. As chrome is no longer really chrome, I wish 'they' would just monotone color trim and stop trying to pitch a dead horse. Real chrome or another finish would be better. Peeling chrome looks worse than pitting. It lacks luster, depth, and has zero protection. Not that it matters over plastic. Lastly, as someone who is 6'' and 195 lbs, I can say that I challenge the interior space of compact cars, but this one more than fits my frame.With the seat adjustment set to its highest level, there is plenty of headroom, shoulder room, and legroom. Although the box around your knees could be more ample, the seat is comfortable enough to have you taking a break long before your knees feel cramped. The tilt/telescoping wheel is a nice touch and has a good range. The ergonomics are overall very good and not too busy, with controls well placed and making sense. The ride is lauded for its weight and wheelbase, making you feel like you're in a car with 10 inches more reach and a thousand pounds more weight. It's not plush, but it's not econobox buckboard harsh either. The handling is good, with neutral to slightly tight steering and very pedal-responsive correction. The cruise control is nice, mated to the Skyactiv 6-speed auto box with grade logic control that actually works great. Although the motor doesn't have enough dynamic compression to brake the car on a 5-7% grade, it's impressive for a motor of a pint and a half, with over a pound-foot torque per cubic inch displacement. Overall, this car is a great choice, with friendly features that make it a comfortable and enjoyable ride.The AC will tax it, and no matter how fast this car can go, it is not a 70 mph all-day-long car, and you cannot expect any motor life from it. Although there are some downsides, I still think it's a great car. However, if I were to buy again, I would choose a one-year-old Buick Verano for the same money. It has twice the car at 60% the fuel economy and three times the comfort. I bought it as an 'econo runabout' to limit the miles on my LaCrosse and keep it indoors during the salty season. It's a sacrificial lamb of sorts that is fun to drive. And it is!

Overall, the car is great! However, I would highly recommend getting the tire and wheel protection. I've had the car for about 3 months and have already had an issue with one of the tires. Unfortunately, the tires are made specifically for the car, so they can only be purchased from the dealership. Living in a major city, I was only able to find ONE dealership in the general area that had the tire I needed. As someone who travels frequently, I'm now nervous about the availability of the tire in some locations. On the bright side, the IA is very quiet on the road and has a fantastic sound system. I absolutely LOVE the backup camera, which comes in handy when parallel parking or pulling out of tight and busy parking spaces. If you're looking for a fancy car without the fancy cost, this is the one for you!

I purchased this car in September 2015 while I was in college. Although I mainly drive it around campus, I occasionally travel home (~300 miles away). I am happy to report that I have finally hit 5,000 miles and so far, it has been an amazing car. Initially, I had some trouble with the acceleration, especially when entering highways, but I quickly figured out how to use the 'sport' mode and it made a huge difference! I was pleasantly surprised by how well the car handled in the winter, despite heavy snowfall in my hometown. The car's warning system for slipping was especially helpful. While the backseat space is quite small, the sound system and back camera more than make up for it. Lastly, the gas mileage is fantastic! I only need to fill up with $15-$20 ($20 when the light turns on) and the car has a range of about 332 miles. Even after driving home (~300 miles), I still have a range of ~232 miles of gas left. I highly recommend this car!

The Scion iA exceeded our expectations! It came loaded with great features, handles well, has excellent fuel economy, and is packed with safety features. We purchased it for our kids to drive, as we wanted them to have the safety features that are not always available on used cars. We even added navigation for just $400, so they don't have to hold their phone while driving. While the back seat is a bit small, my son pointed out that there is plenty of room in the front, and his friends won't complain if they get a ride. Personally, I would have no problem using this as my primary vehicle. The only thing I would add is a center armrest. Mazda really knows how to make a great small car. The only downside is the unattractive front end that Toyota added. Overall, this car is exactly what we were looking for: a small entry-level car that is safe and enjoyable to drive.

In 2016, at 61,000 miles, I had to put $1,200 towards a fuel pump. Right after that, the stereo went out in just 4 minutes. It's frustrating that with electric cars, you can't top off your gas like you can with other Toyotas. To make matters worse, the charcoal canister clogged and cost $400 to replace. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this car.

I purchased this car used a year ago with only 12,000 miles on it. Currently, it has 33,000 miles. Recently, I have been experiencing an electrical issue where the car loses power and all the dash warning lights come on, along with flickering headlights, when I accelerate after stopping. I took it to a Toyota dealership, but they were unable to identify the problem. Despite this, I am confident that the issue will be resolved soon and I will be able to drive my car without any concerns.

In my personal experience, I have found these cars to be unreliable and cheaply made. Additionally, the tires for this car are quite unique and can be difficult to find, which can be frustrating. I have also noticed that the 'low rolling resistance' tires can make driving in damp conditions a bit tricky. I have had some issues with the Smart City Brake sensors, which can be a bit costly to repair. Overall, I would recommend doing some research and considering other options before making a purchase. I purchased the Scion iA in 2016 and initially loved it. While it is a compact car and doesn't have many luxury features, it seemed like a great value and had excellent gas mileage. Unfortunately, with less than 30,000 miles, it has developed a major transmission-related issue. The car intermittently experiences a loss of power, causing it to stall out or die in traffic, which is a major safety concern. Despite taking it to Dan Wolf Toyota of Naperville (IL), they have been unable to duplicate the problem and therefore refuse to fix the car. Although the car stalled while their porter was driving it, they still cannot pinpoint the issue. They have kept the car for a total of 3 weeks on two separate occasions. The last time the car died, I had to pay $160 to have it towed to them. Unfortunately, corporate will not allow them to replace the transmission for an intermittent problem. It's important for potential buyers to be aware of this issue. It's worth noting that the same car is now being sold under the Toyota brand as the Yaris iA.

I have seen many other reviews that are similar to mine, and unfortunately, I have to agree that my experience with this car has not been great. I attempted to start a lemon law claim due to my transmission constantly blowing and loss of traction when raining, but unfortunately, I never received the paperwork back. My transmission broke after less than a year of owning the car, and even after a new transmission was installed, it happened again. Sierra Toyota (CA) informed me that it would be a recurring problem due to the vibrations of the car. Additionally, my center console fell through, and Toyota has yet to fix it, despite my regular servicing of the car. I almost crashed once in the rain when my car randomly spun out on the freeway (I informed them of this when I started my claim), and although they said it was probably my fault, I did crash a different time because my car lost traction on the freeway. The tires are difficult to obtain for this car because it is a special size that only Scion makes, but unfortunately, they are not of good quality. I would advise everyone against purchasing this car, especially if you have a family.
