Common Saturn Relay problems
Based on the information provided in the search results, here are common problems with Saturn Relay cars based on complaints from owners:
- Rapid Clicking Sounds: Another sign of a faulty starter relay in Saturn Relay cars is a series of rapid clicks when trying to start the engine. This rapid clicking indicates that the relay is not supplying enough current to engage the starter motor. This issue can be caused by burned-out contacts, worn-out leads, or an old relay that has lost its effectiveness.
- Starter Relay Remaining On: In some cases, the starter relay in Saturn Relay cars may remain on even after the engine has started. This can be due to the contacts fusing together from prolonged exposure to strong currents. If this issue is not addressed promptly, it can lead to damage to the starting system, requiring immediate attention from a mechanic.
- Occasional Engine Starting Failures: Owners of Saturn Relay cars may experience occasional and irregular engine starting failures. This can occur when the engine fails to start initially but starts when the ignition key is turned off and on again. This intermittent starting issue is often caused by dirt and debris buildup on the contacts or leads, affecting the current flow through the circuit.
These common problems with Saturn Relay cars related to the starter relay can significantly impact the vehicle's performance and reliability. It is essential for owners to be aware of these issues and address them promptly to ensure the proper functioning of their vehicles.

WITH THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET - I WAS THINKING THAT SURELY A TSB OR RECALL ON THESE ISSUES HAS BEEN OVERLOOKED OR SIMPLY IGNORED BY THE MECHANICS AND SERVICE WRITERS AT THE GM DEALERSHIPS NATIONWIDE. I KNOW THAT A TECH LL SCANNER IS REQUIRED TO CHECK FOR ANY TROUBLE CODES FOR THESE VERY COMPLEX SYSTEMS, BUT WHAT IS THE KNOWN DEFINITIVE FIX FOR THESE POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEMS ? THE LIGHTS AND MESSAGES BEGAN APPEARING AFTER MODERATE BRAKING AND WHILE VEHICLE IS/WAS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY WHILE TURNING OR ON A STRAIGHT AHEAD STRETCH OF ROADWAY. VARIED ROAD CONDITIONS AND WET OR DRY WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE SEEMINGLY NOT CONTRIBUTING FACTORS.

This car has been so reliable and comfortable! With nearly 82,000 miles on it, I've only had to replace the rear wiper motor (after the warranty expired) and do some normal wear and tear service. It's been a great ride!

I have never owned a better vehicle! I bought it in 2006 with 13000 miles and it has yet to break down. It has also been through 3 kids and is still going strong. It's the perfect go-to mini van and I still drive it every day to work. It's amazing that it's still on its original alternator, engine, transmission, and starter. I have only had to change the oil, brakes, and battery. SERIOUSLY!!!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share that my wife and I have 6 kids and we absolutely love travelling with them. It's so much fun to watch DVDs together and enjoy the extra space. We also really appreciate the storage compartments in the back and overhead, as well as the power outlets that allow us to plug in all sorts of devices. It really makes our trips so much more enjoyable!

I've owned four Saturns, and my latest one has been a reliable companion on some epic road trips. I've towed a 3000 pound trailer from Maryland to Alaska, passing through some extreme temperatures along the way. Despite the challenging conditions, my Saturn has always started and performed well. It even handled 12 inches of fresh snow with ease! While it can be a bit tricky to drive on ice, my kids love the comfortable interior. When we were out of cell range in remote areas, the OnStar phone was a lifesaver. I've gotten 12 MPG while towing and up to 23 MPG on mountain highways with a light load. In town, I average around 16 MPG, and in snowy conditions, it drops to around 14 MPG. I did have some trouble with the Continental tires, but since switching to Michelin, they've been holding up well. I've only needed one repair from the dealer, and even though the warranty had expired by 2k miles, they covered it for free. Overall, I'm very happy with my Saturn and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable ride.

Our Relay has been a great addition to our family, especially with the built-in DVD player that our children love. It's been a smooth ride overall, although there have been a few minor issues such as the molding sticking to the vehicle and the automatic sliding passenger door making a popping noise when closing. We did have some trouble with the tires wearing out quickly after only 11,000 miles, but other than that, we really like the vehicle. While OnStar has its limitations, we have found it to be helpful in certain situations. The first year of service is free, which is a nice bonus, but we wouldn't necessarily pay for it. Overall, we are happy with our Relay and would recommend it to others.

This car has had multiple issues, including peeling side paneling, ABS system problems, and a faulty remote sliding door. Unfortunately, the engine recently blew while I was out of state. Despite there being a bulletin about this issue, it was not considered a recall due to the low number of reported incidents. With only 26,000 miles on the car, I am concerned for the safety of my two children. Additionally, the child lock on the rear door has locked on its own, creating a potentially dangerous situation. It is clear that this car requires immediate attention and resolution.

Hi there! Thank you for sharing your experience with the Relay 2. It sounds like you've had a great time with it so far! Before purchasing the Relay 2, you had two Dodge Grand Caravans, but this one is heads and shoulders above those previous vans. It's comfortable, powerful, handles well, and is reliable. You mentioned having a problem when you overfilled the gas tank, but since then, you haven't had any real problems. Now, you need brakes at 30k, but that's the only issue it's had. I hope you get several more years of good service out of it before it gets sacrificed. Overall, it sounds like you have a great vehicle! Thank you again for sharing your experience with us.

The car experienced several issues, including problems with the ABS and traction control systems, which should have resulted in recalls. The sensors were replaced four times, costing over $500 twice (the other two times were under part warranty). Additionally, the car had issues with cupping tires, warped tire rods, and a broken lever to fold the third row. The auto door opener also stopped working. The car's rotors warped immediately after purchase and were replaced at 35,000 miles. Unfortunately, the car's depreciation was significant, and we traded it in last week when we were upside down on the loan by $4,000. Our cost to own this car for 3.5 years was over $40,000, including the purchase price of $28,000 and the cost of repairs (excluding gas at 20mpg).

After reading all these great reviews, I'm wondering if we are talking about the same vehicle. Unfortunately, my experience has been less than ideal. The mpg has never been over 16.8, even with all freeway driving. In the summer, during the hottest days of August, the A/C refused to work twice. When using the A/C, mpg tops out at 15.1. Additionally, I've had some minor molding, door sticking, and cup holder derailing issues. I met another Saturn owner at the dealership with identical issues, and they suffered from oil leaks that were not satisfactorily handled. However, I do miss my '91 4-Runner!

I had an excellent experience with my first Saturn. The vehicle handles exceptionally well and comes with convenient features such as cargo trays, sliding doors, and a DVD player. The mileage is impressive, with 16 city and 24 highway. I did not encounter any fit or finish problems, and the minor issues I experienced, such as flickering lights, were promptly resolved by the dealer. The only remaining issue is with the radio, which does not receive any AM stations, although all FM stations come in perfectly.
