The Nissan 240SX is a sports compact car that was introduced to the North American market by Nissan in 1989 for the 1990 model year. It replaced the outgoing 200SX (S12) model. Most of the 240SXs were equipped with the 2.4-liter inline 4 engine (KA24E from 1989 to 1990 and KA24DE from 1990 to 1998). The KA24E had single overhead cams and the KA24DE had dual overhead cams. Two distinct generations of the 240SX, the S13 (1989–1994) the S14 (1994-1998) were produced, based on the Nissan S platform.
The 240SX is closely related to other S platform based vehicles, such as the Japanese-market Silvia and 180SX, and the European-market 200SX. Although their names are similar, the 240SX is unrelated to the 240Z or the 280ZX.
The 240SX is known for its popularity within drifting and tuner culture. However, due to the popularity of the S-chassis in drifting and related competitions, prices for vehicles and parts have greatly increased due to higher demand. This problem is sometimes known as "drift tax".

I bought this car (SE version) new in '95. Loved it! It had manual transmission, great handling, and nice pickup. All in all, it was a fantastic sports car. I would have loved to keep it, but unfortunately, my ex won it. She traded it in for a Honda truck. I guess everyone has different tastes.

It sounds like you have a really awesome car! I love how it handles sharp turns, although it can be a bit scary starting off fast on wet roads. It's great to hear that you've had it for almost 2 years now with no problems and it's still in great running condition. I can imagine that finding and affording some of the 240 parts might be a bit of a challenge, but overall it looks fantastic both inside and out. I've had this car for a year now and it's been an absolute blast to drive. It's a real head-turner and everywhere I go, people recognize it because they don't make them anymore. To me, it's a special car and up to this point, I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's been my first car since I started driving and I love the fact that, despite its age, it still performs just as well as it did when it was new.

I'm so glad I bought this car after a bad driver totaled my 94 Sentra SE-R (I loved that car!). This car had a lot to live up to, but it has really won me over. I've traveled across the country and back in it many times, and it never fails to perform in an outstanding manner. The only thing I've had to replace other than oil, brakes, belts, hoses, and tires was a starter motor at 99,000 miles.

The 240SX is such a blast to drive! The best part of this car is that it's RWD. It's also affordable, reliable, agile, and fun. It handles better than I ever could. Plus, it gets pretty good gas mileage, especially considering how fast it goes. The fastback design, combined with the backseat, provides ample cargo room. I play the tuba, and I can fit 3 tubas and 2 people in the car all at once! There's also plenty of room under the hood, making it easy to work on and customize to your liking.

The acceleration is impressive for a car with only 160 hp and 155 lbs of torque, and the RWD makes it even more fun to drive. I have owned my 240sx for 2 years now and have not experienced any major engine problems, only minor electrical issues which were expected, such as the alternator and starter. During my ownership, I have made several upgrades to the car, including a centerforce clutch, kyb rear struts, injen air intake, sumitomo tires, and a sports exhaust with the 2 resonators removed, resulting in a very loud 4-cylinder engine. Although I have encountered a small fuel leak from 2 of the fuel injectors, I am still very proud of my 240. The rear-wheel drive has made this car incredibly enjoyable to drive.

I have owned various cars in the past, but unfortunately, the engines in these particular models have been the most challenging to deal with. Both myself and my family have experienced issues ranging from fuel pumps to injectors, exhausts to brake calipers. It can be frustrating at times, but I remain hopeful that these issues will be resolved soon.
