Mini Paceman problems
The Mini Paceman is a three-door subcompact crossover SUV sold and manufactured by BMW under the Mini brand. It is the three-door counterpart of the R60 Mini Countryman. It was introduced as the Paceman Concept at the 2011 North American International Auto Show. The production model debuted in September 2012.
Like the Countryman, the Paceman was offered with a choice of two or four-wheel drive (known as ALL4), and with 1.6-litre petrol or diesel and 2.0-litre diesel inline four engines in various states of tune. Unlike most of the Mini range, the Paceman was not manufactured in the UK but in Graz, Austria, by Magna Steyr, along with the Countryman.
BMW ended production of the Paceman in late 2016 as BMW executives felt it was positioned too close to the Countryman in Mini’s line-up.

Common Mini Paceman problems
The MINI Paceman, a compact crossover introduced by the iconic British brand, has had its share of common problems as reported by owners. While the Paceman offers a blend of practicality, style, and driving enjoyment, some issues have been noted across various model years.
One common problem reported by owners is related to the engine, specifically crank oil leaks. These leaks can lead to reduced engine performance, increased emissions, misfires, and rough idling. This issue has been reported in several MINI Cooper Paceman models, affecting their overall reliability and performance.
Another concern for Paceman owners is the potential for unexpected engine shutdowns, which can be a significant safety risk.
The 2014 Paceman has also received a higher number of complaints related to the engine, powertrain, and electrical systems compared to other model years. These complaints include issues with the power steering system, which can disable the steering and display warning messages on the car's screen.
In terms of mechanical issues, a few Paceman owners have reported experiencing clutch problems, although these are not as widespread as the engine-related concerns.
Despite these issues, the MINI Paceman has been praised for its unique blend of practicality, style, and driving enjoyment. Its sporty handling and wide range of engine options make it an attractive choice for those seeking a crossover with a bit of sporting attitude. However, potential buyers should be aware of the common problems reported by owners, particularly in relation to the engine and powertrain, when considering a used Paceman.
