Common Mercedes-benz Amg eqe problems

Mercedes-Benz has issued two voluntary recall notices that affect certain EQE, EQS, and EQS SUV all-electric vehicles sold in the United States. The first recall is due to a fault in the software management response logic that may deactivate the electric drivetrain, leading to a loss of propulsion and an increased risk of a crash. The issue affects 8,281 units of the 2022-2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450, 2022 EQS 580, 2022-2023 Mercedes-AMG EQS, 2023 EQS 580 SUV, and 2023 AMG EQE. When the issue occurs, multiple warning messages are displayed in the instrument cluster. Mercedes discovered the problem in October 2022 and plans to fix it with a software update for the electric drivetrain system.

The second recall is due to a possible fault in the monitoring software of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Under certain conditions, the ESP monitoring software could erroneously determine a fault condition, limiting the functionality of the vehicle’s dynamics control systems and indicating a speed of 0 mph (0 km/h), regardless of the actual vehicle speed. This recall affects 7,558 vehicles, including 4,285 units of the 2022 EQS 450 and 2,522 units of the 2022 EQS 580, as well as other models. A software update performed by an authorized dealer will fix this issue.

In addition to these recalls, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is expected to be less reliable than other new cars based on limited data from the EQS and the Mercedes brand scores. Consumer Reports obtains its reliability data from a questionnaire sent to subscribers, asking them to note any problems with their cars that occurred in the past 12 months. A typical model has about 200 to 400 samples for each model year, but for some model years, the sample size may not be large enough to provide results of statistical confidence.

In summary, Mercedes-Benz has issued two recalls for the EQE, EQS, and EQS SUV all-electric vehicles due to faulty software that may lead to a loss of propulsion or a faulty response from the Electronic Stability Program. Additionally, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is expected to be less reliable than other new cars based on limited data and the Mercedes brand scores.
