The Infiniti M is a line of mid-size luxury (executive) cars from the Infiniti luxury division of Nissan. From 2013 (model year 2014) on it has been marketed as the Infiniti Q70, reflecting the company's new naming scheme.
The first iteration was the M30 Coupé/Convertible, which were rebadged JDM Nissan Leopard. After a long hiatus, the M nameplate was used for Infiniti's mid-luxury sedans (executive cars). First was the short-lived M45 sedan, a rebadged version of the Japanese-spec Nissan Gloria. The next generations, the M35/45 and M37/56/35h/30d, became the flagship of the Infiniti brand and are based on the JDM Nissan Fuga.
First generation (1989–1992)
The Infiniti M30 was a 2-door coupé based on the Japanese market Nissan Leopard (chassis code F31). It was launched in 1989 for the 1990 model year as a luxury coupe alternative to the Infiniti Q45, and was intended to be an alternative to the Lexus SC and Acura Legend coupe for the North American market.
Unlike its competitors that were designed with the American market in mind and were launched as brand-new models, the M30 was based on a somewhat dated platform that was originally designed for the Japanese market; when the Leopard was imported to the United States, few changes were made to the exterior but the interior was revised to better suit American tastes; a leather interior was standard in the M30, and several features in the Leopard such as a center-mounted television screen and a digital instrument cluster weren't available in the M30 as those features were perceived as gimmicks in western car markets.
The M30's angular design aesthetics and on-road performance were viewed as outdated, especially considering a redesigned Acura Legend coupe was launched in 1991. The interior came in for criticism for its outdated ergonomics and lack of room. While the Japanese-market Leopard had received a new dashboard along with the 1988 facelift, economics precluded making a left-hand-drive version of the new dashboard and the M30 was instead fitted with the LHD version of the R31 Skyline's rectilinear dashboard, first presented in 1985.
The M30 made up for these deficiencies in its somewhat lower price; whereas the 1990 Acura Legend coupe started at $27,325 before options and the 1990 BMW 325i started at $24,650 before options, the M30 started at $23,500, and had no factory options, per Infiniti's pricing structure used at the time. Dealerships offered an in-car cellular telephone and in-dash CD player as optional accessories, amongst other items.

The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the fuel gauge failed to read the fuel level correctly and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed several times to a dealer and independent mechanic however, the fuel gauge sensor could not be replaced. Additionally, on one occasion, the vehicle was steered to the side of the road where the vehicle was refueled. The vehicle was restarted but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel filter needed to be replaced and the fuel gauge sensor needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

BUT, I DID FIND DURING RESEARCH THAT THERE NEW MODELS WITH DEFECTIVE (WHITE) PAINT THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER DAMAGE, I HAVE SEEN A COUPLE OTHER 2003 M45'S WITH CHIPPING PAINT. WHICH WOULD LEAVE BE TO BELIEVE THAT THERE MUST HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE PAINT. MY VEHICLE IS UNRECOGNIZABLE. I recently traded in my 911 Carrera for a new car that offers both great performance and quality, as well as plenty of room. My previous car was an M5. I have driven it for 2500 miles so far and the build quality appears to be good. The cabin is spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, the car had some issues upon delivery, such as glue all over the car and a warped rear deck spoiler. The dealer was very cooperative and apologetic for the problems, but it still had to go back twice to replace the warped part. While the performance is acceptable for a 4000 lb. vehicle, it doesn't quite match up to the M5. However, the fit and finish of the car is excellent.

I've been driving BMWs for 12 out of the last 20 years. When I went to look for a new car, I found that the prices were quite high. I test drove the 530, E350/550, GS 450h, Audi A6, and finally the M45. The M45 was the clear winner for me, with its loaded advanced tech package, spoiler, and rosewood. It has every luxury item that the Germans would charge you extra for. The acceleration is both smooth and powerful, and the interior is quiet and comfortable. The stereo and navigation system are great, and the air-conditioned seats are especially appreciated in the Florida heat.

I recently purchased the M45 after owning a BMW 525 and a 2000 740IL. I absolutely love the Tech package of the M! The 3D GPS, voice activated controls, rear backup camera, and A/C control seats (although they could be better) are all amazing features. The overall look of the car is also very impressive. However, I have noticed that the car uses oil from the very first oil change, although it's not leaking or smoking. I have had to add 1 to 2 quarts between changes. Additionally, the moonroof leaks during any car wash and I have had to have the AC serviced each year. The heated and cooled seats do not compare to the BMW, and the ride can be noisy with the low-profile tires, which also make for a bumpy ride. Lastly, if the battery dies, there is no way to open the trunk for jumper cables. Despite these issues, I still enjoy driving the M45.

The car has been in the shop at least 15 times for repairs, 7 of which were for the same issue. Although it hesitates when accelerating at low to medium speeds, it performs great at highway speeds. Additionally, the gas gauge is currently not functioning, and it consumes 1 quart of oil every 3,000 miles. However, these issues are being addressed and the car is still a reliable mode of transportation.

This car comes complete with every possible feature, including DVD, Bluetooth, navigation with voice recognition, and more. The only area that could use some improvement is the Sport Rims. The roads here in New England are not the best, and the sport rims have caused major cracking to the wheels twice, which had to be replaced. While this is not necessarily a flaw, normal driving conditions in New England include potholes, and in hindsight, I would have chosen more durable rims. Although the sport rims give a better appearance, it's important to consider the practicality of the rims for the area.

I see you've moved from an I35 to an M45! That's quite an upgrade! It sounds like you're enjoying the car's horsepower and acceleration, especially after 55 miles an hour. I'm glad to hear that you're happy with the handling, but it's a shame that the back seat doesn't have more leg room. I agree that it would be helpful if the cruise and radio controls lit up at night, and it would be convenient if the doors locked and unlocked automatically when moving from park. It seems like the price of the car should include more standard features, but overall it sounds like you're enjoying your new ride!
