Infiniti Jx problems

infiniti logo

The Infiniti QX60, called the Infiniti JX until the 2014 model year, is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with three-row seating produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. It is underpinned by an elongated Nissan Murano platform also used by the Nissan Pathfinder.

In keeping with Infiniti's naming scheme for 2014, in which cars begin with Q and SUVs begin with QX, the JX was renamed to QX60. While the number previously denoted engine displacement (for example, 35=3.5L engine), the new number, 60, is largely to do with its place in the product lineup, with larger numbers usually corresponding to more expensive vehicles.

First generation (L50; 2013)

The Infiniti JX35 was announced in April 2012 in the United States as a 2013 model. A concept version had been debuted at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, while the production model was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. For 2014, the car was renamed the QX60.

The QX60 was the first three-row crossover to be released by Infiniti. Design work was done through 2009, by Naoyuki Ohkoshi under Shiro Nakamura. In 2012 Nissan announced that the Pathfinder would also have the same platform as the QX60 for the 2013 model year.

The QX60 had previously been under consideration for the Australian market, but the numbers for right-hand-drive re-engineering and local homologation failed to add up and get approved by Australian authorities unlike its Nissan Pathfinder sibling. This results that the QX60 would not be available in RHD markets as it would only be available exclusively in LHD markets.

  • Summary: I was stopped at a stop sign. When I tried to make my turn/proceed my vehicle putted through the turn. It wouldn’t go over 5 mph it seemed. Luckily I made it out of the way before the oncoming traffic got to me. I pulled over turned the car off and then back on & it worked good enough to get me home. I took it to a mechanic and was informed it was the transmission. I did some research and found this is a common issue with this vehicle. For some reason my vehicle is not listed on the recall list, though it is exhibiting all the same issues others reported. Car is currently sitting until I can afford a new transmission. Sadly I’m still making payments on it.

  • Summary: While driving the car I began to loose steering control . The car would not go in the direction I wanted to go. It was a harrowing experience but I managed to get to my destination. There My father noticed that the right front tire was rubbing the front of the wheel well. After further inspection I could see where the right lower control arm had broken free of the front subframe. I took photos of the damage from different angles .From these I could see that the top of the subframe had severe corrosion while the bottom was intact. I am thankful that I lived through this without suffering injury or death. I reached out to Infinity consumer affairs about this issue and all they could say is that the warranty was up without any concern of this being a major issue with this JX35 Infinity. I feel that a subframe should not break after only 10 Years. This is not an inexpensive car. ( photos attached)

Hello! We hope you're doing well. We wanted to share our experience with Infiniti and our 2013 JX35. We noticed some issues with the transmission within the first 100 miles, and despite being told that we needed to break in the car for 500 miles, the problems persisted. After bringing it in for repairs, we were told that the torque converter needed to be replaced, but unfortunately, the issues continued. We were then informed that the transmission needed to be replaced, which was disappointing. We wanted to share our experience with you so that you can make an informed decision. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I purchased the Infinity JX35 brand new in 2013. While I have had a few issues with the car, including 4 recalls and a non-responsive CV transmission, I have found it to be comfortable inside and occasionally useful with its 3rd row seat. However, I have been disappointed with the gas mileage in city driving and the supposed All Wheel drive. Despite these issues, I am still surprised that the radiator fan motor went out at only 34K miles and that the dealership is charging me $1,300 for the repair, as it is not covered by the warranty. Overall, I expected more from a car that cost $50K. On a positive note, I have noticed that Nissan, the manufacturer of Infinity, offers a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty on their truck/van (the NV 200), which makes me wonder why they don't offer the same for their luxury SUV.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2013 Infinity JX35 (CUV) that I purchased on June 9th, 2013. Unfortunately, after only 3-4 weeks of driving, I noticed some major front end shaking/steering issues when operating the vehicle between 18-35 MPH. As you can imagine, this was a highly unsafe situation that could have easily resulted in me losing control of the vehicle. I took the car to the dealership twice (it's currently there) and it has been there for a total of 21+ days. They have done some major power train work, including replacing the Torque Converter, Electric Power Steering Unit, and they are actively working to replace the transmission with a re-manufactured unit. I'm hoping that this will resolve the issue and I can get back to enjoying my new car. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter!

  4. Adelbert Rosenbaum 2025-07-10

We purchased the JX as our family car and were pleased with the third row seating. It was convenient that we didn't have to remove the car seat to access the third row. Additionally, even with the seats up, there was still a small trunk. The interior room, especially in the rear, was spacious and comfortable. However, we did experience some issues with the CVT transmission and poor gas mileage. While we weren't expecting a performance car, there were times when the car struggled to accelerate, which we believe was due to the transmission constantly searching for the best gear. This made driving uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the gas mileage was also lower than expected, averaging around 15 mpg. Overall, we had a positive experience with the JX, but the transmission and gas mileage issues would make us hesitant to purchase it again.

I am sorry to hear about the issues you faced with your Infiniti JX35. It sounds like you had a frustrating experience with the front passenger side airbag sensors, transmission, wipers, and weather stripping. It must have been disappointing to receive multiple excuses from the Infiniti dealer in Fresno. I understand that the service advisor's recommendation to not keep the car past 100K miles was not helpful either. I hope that you were able to find a car that better suits your needs and preferences. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Congratulations on your new JX! It's great to hear that your initial impressions are very favorable. Your Emerald Graphite AWD with the premium package sounds like a beautiful car, with impeccable fit and finish. The emerald paint is a deep metallic rich, subtly changing hue in different lights, and the java interior is not only beautiful but also very comfortable. It's good to know that there is plenty of interior room, including headroom, and that the 3rd row seat is roomy despite being low. The floor being level throughout and plenty of visibility all around is a great plus. The controls are well placed, and the car is clearly designed for quiet and comfort. It may not have the same performance and handling of other Infinitis, but it certainly makes up for it with loads of tech! Enjoy your new ride!
