Gmc K15 problems
The Chevrolet C/K is a series of trucks that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1960 to 2002 model years. Marketed by both the Chevrolet and GMC divisions, the C/K series encompassed a wide range of vehicles. While most commonly associated with pickup trucks, the model line also included chassis-cab trucks and medium-duty trucks and served as the basis for GM full-size SUVs. Through its entire production, the model line competed directly against the Ford F-Series and the Dodge D series (later the Dodge Ram pickup).
Used for both the model branding and the internal model code, "C" denoted two-wheel drive, while "K" denoted four-wheel drive. Four generations of the C/K series were produced, including the GM monikered second-generation "Action Line" and third-generation "Rounded Line" vehicles (colloquially aka Square-Body trucks). For the fourth-generation (colloquially also known as OBS trucks), Chevrolet kept using the C/K designation while GMC revised its branding, changing to a singular GMC Sierra nameplate (C/K remained as an internal model code).
For South America, the model line was manufactured by General Motors de Argentina from 1960 to 1978, Sevel Argentina from 1986 to 1991, and General Motors Brazil, who produced versions of the model line for Brazil, Argentina, and Chile from 1964 to 2001.
As GM entered the 1990s, the company revised its truck ranges, replacing the medium-duty C/K trucks with the Chevrolet Kodiak/GMC TopKick for 1990. For 1999, GM replaced the fourth-generation C/K pickup trucks with an all-new model line; in line with GMC, Chevrolet dropped the C/K nameplate (in favor of a singular Chevrolet Silverado nameplate). Initially marketed with its successor, the final C/K pickup trucks were produced for the 2000 model year. From 2001 to 2002, the final vehicles of the C/K model line were medium-duty chassis cab trucks.

Common Gmc K15 problems
Based on the sources provided, here are some common problems with the GMC K15 cars based on complaints from owners:
- Alternator Failure:
- Older Sierras and Silverados may experience alternator failure, resulting in a dead battery and abnormal noises. This issue typically occurs around 125,000 miles and requires an alternator replacement, costing around $300 to $400.
- Starting Problems:
- Owners have reported starting issues where the truck may start and idle fine but run poorly under load. This could be due to various factors like ECM fault codes, engine compression, fuel pump pressure, spark plugs, ignition leads, and more. Checking these components and ensuring they meet the vehicle's basic needs can help resolve starting issues.
- Choke Problems:
- Some complaints involve choke problems where the choke won't open. This issue can be related to the vacuum choke pulloff not working, the choke tube not getting hot while the truck is running, or potential blockages in the tube or intake crossover. Checking these components and ensuring proper functioning can help address choke-related starting problems.
These common problems highlight key issues that GMC K15 owners may face, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance, timely repairs, and thorough inspections to ensure optimal performance and reliability of these vehicles.

- Summary: THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON MY TRUCK BEGAN TO RUN IRREGULARLY. AT TIMES THEY WOULD SIMPLY STOP OPERATING. OTHER TIMES THEY WOULD NOT START UP WHEN SWITCHED ON. I WENT TO A LOCAL GENERAL MOTORS DEALER'S PARTS DEPARTMENT AND DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM TO A PARTS TECHNICIAN. HE TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY THE CONTROL MODULE LOCATED ON THE WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. HE SAID IT WAS COMMON WITH EARLY K15 SERIES TRUCK. HE REACHED BELOW HIS COUNTER AND LAYED THE NEEDED PART ON THE COUNTER TOP. I WAS SURPRISED HE HAD IT SO CLOSE AT HAND. HE SAID HE KEEPS THEM NEAR BY BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS COMMON. THE PART NUMBER IS 12463017 MODULE 16.067. IT COST ME $52.68. THE REPAIR WAS NOT TO COMPLICATED AND THE NEW CONTROL MODULE SEEMS TO BE WORKING JUST FINE. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY - PART FAILURE ISSUE. IS IT COMMON? *TR
