Bmw 530ia problems
The BMW E39 is the fourth generation of the BMW 5 Series range of executive cars, which was manufactured from 1995 to 2004. It was launched in the sedan body style, with the station wagon body style (marketed as "Touring") introduced in 1996. The E39 was replaced by the E60 5 Series in 2003, however E39 Touring models remained in production until May 2004.
The proportion of chassis components using aluminium significantly increased for the E39, and it was the first 5 Series to use aluminium for all major components in the front suspension or any in the rear. It was also the first 5 Series where a four-cylinder diesel engine was available. Rack and pinion steering was used for four- and six-cylinder models, the first time that a 5 Series has used this steering system in significant volumes. Unlike its E34 predecessor and E60 successor, the E39 was not available with all-wheel drive.
The high performance E39 M5 sedan was introduced in 1998, powered by a 4.9 L (302 cu in) DOHC V8 engine. It was the first M5 model to be powered by a V8 engine.

Common Bmw 530ia problems
Common problems with BMW 530ia cars, based on complaints from owners, include vibrations, engine mounts, cooling system issues, leaks, and front-end work.
Vibrations are a common issue in BMW 530ia cars, particularly when the engine reaches or is close to its normal working temperature. This can be caused by various factors, such as damaged mounting points of the engine or transmission, exhaust problems, or even the air conditioning compressor, which is a heavy component and can cause vibrations due to its belt-driven nature.
Engine mounts are another common problem in BMW 530ia cars. These components absorb excessive vibrations, and with the N52 I6 engine, it's relatively easy to change them. Replacing worn-out engine mounts can significantly reduce or eliminate engine-related vibrations in the steering or shifter.
Cooling system issues are prevalent in BMW 530ia cars, with E39s being particularly susceptible. These problems can include leaks, cooling system replacements every 75,000 miles, and flimsy cupholders. While these issues may not be as critical as vibrations or engine mount problems, they can still affect the overall driving experience and require regular maintenance.
Leaks and front-end work are also common problems in BMW 530ia cars. Oil leaks, power steering fluid leaks, and cooling system leaks are not uncommon, and front-end work may be required due to wear and tear or age-related issues.
In summary, BMW 530ia cars can experience various problems, including vibrations, engine mount issues, cooling system problems, leaks, and front-end work. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help ensure the longevity and reliability of these vehicles.

- Date Complaint: 2017-05-13
- Fire: 1
- VIN: WBADT63441C
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: I PARKED MY CAR AND FOUND THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAD ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE, MELTING THE CARPET AND PLASTIC INTERIOR, GLOVEBOX AND MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND WIRING HARNESS. THE AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED AND THERE WAS BLACK SOOT COVERING THE INTERIOR. I FOUND THAT THERE WAS WATER ACCUMULATED BENEATH THE PASSENGER FOOTWELL, WHERE THERE IS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL FUSE PANEL. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY IN FRONT OF MY HOME AND I'VE HAD TO FIND A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HARNESS AND MODULES. ALSO THE SMOKE DAMAGE WOULD PREVENT ME FROM WANTING TO DRIVE THE CAR. IT HAD BEEN RAINING REGULARLY FOR THE PREVIOUS MONTHS DURING WINTER AND I BELIEVE IT'S POSSIBLE THAT WATER WAS BEING DIVERTED TO THIS AREA WHERE THE MAIN ELECTRICAL FUSES WERE LOCATED. THERE DO NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY PROVISIONS TO KEEP WATER FROM ACCUMULATING OR TO PROTECT THE FUSES FROM WATER INTRUSION. THE ANGLE AT WHICH THE CAR WAS PARKED WAS WITH THE FRONT POINTED UP AT AN INCLINE OF APPROXIMATELY 15 DEGREES. THIS OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET. THE CAR IS IRREPARABLE AND MUST BE DISPOSED OF.

REVERSE FOR NO REASON STOPPED WORKING AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME!!! IT HAS ENOUGH POWER TO ROLL VERY SLOWLY IF YOU REV THE MOTOR OUT OF A FLAT PARKING SPOT BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY POWER TO BACK UP ANY INCLINE AT ALL. I HAVE NEVER ABUSED THE CAR OR HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVE TRAIN. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT HAS A SEALED TRANSMISSION AND YOU CAN'T CHECK OR ADD FLUID. I GOT STUCK AGAINST A CURB WHILE TRYING TO PERFORM A U-TURN BLOCKING ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HAD TO GET A TOW TRUCK TO REMOVE MY CAR A FEW FEET BACK. I THOUGHT THAT I DID SOMETHING WRONG BUT AFTER RESEARCHING I SEE THAT TONS OF PEOPLE HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS SAME DEFECT!! WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED? IT'S A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR COSTING THOUSANDS FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I WORKED AT A BMW DEALERSHIP IN SALES AND THE SERVICE PROVIDER I SPOKE TO SAID IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH BMW THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. *TR
