How many miles per gallon does a Saturn Vue hybrid get?
25/32 mpg city/highway
The Vue Hybrid felt like driving any other car, but my test car's gas engine rarely shut off when I drove it, which was odd since it's supposed to whenever you're idling at a stoplight. I got a combined 26.1 mpg in my week in the Vue Hybrid; it gets an EPA-estimated 25/32 mpg city/highway.

- Date Of Incident: 2023-04-29
- Date Complaint: 2023-06-05
- VIN: 3GSCL53779S
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: I have only 68,329 miles. My transmission lost reverse. When first driving it will only go up to 10 mph and over time the maximum speed is 30 to 40 mph. Even if it gets to this speed it hesitates. The car is a danger and not drive able. I took the car to a GM dealer requesting a Policy Evaluation according to the Service Bulletin Warranty. The evaluation showed GM will not help me with any repairs or replacement of transmission. A car should not have a major component fail like a transmission especially with such low mileage. It is expected to have maintenance and repairs on a vehicle. What is not expected or normal servicing is transmission repair or replacement. It was estimated from the GM dealerships Policy Evaluation it will cost $5,500 to replace the transmission. My car is in great shape other than the transmission failure. I love my car and anticipated to have this car many years. This is an unaffordable repair and essentially makes this a throw away car. I feel extremely disappointed in GM's decision to not remedy this major problem.

- Date Of Incident: 2021-08-20
- Date Complaint: 2021-08-29
- VIN: 3GSDL43N49S
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Vehicle is a Saturn Vue XE, 3.5 liter AWD, ~84,000 miles. Problem Statement: Extensive corrosion of the subframe located at the midpoint of the vehicle on the driver and passenger sides. This is NOT surface rust - the frame corrosion has resulted in sections of the frame rotting through, severely compromising the structural integrity of the frame and safety of the vehicle. I have documented at least 6 formal complaints for the same problem from various websites, including some with front end and engine mounts cross members literally rotting away. My vehicle is only 12 years old and has only 7000 miles average miles per year but will not pass a safety inspection in Massachusetts due to the extensive rust through. The NHTSA has several corrosion related service bulletins documented involving several General Motors vehicle models but they only call out surface corrosion. The NHTSA needs to investigate FRAME RUST THROUGH on Saturn Vue and other GM vehicles as OWNERS ARE HIGHLY UNLIKELY TO REALIZE THE LOOMING SAFETY HAZARD if they have no other reason to inspect underneath the vehicle.

- Date Complaint: 2020-12-27
- Crash: 1
- VIN: 3GSCL33P69S
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS
- Summary: WHILE I AM DRIVING I HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT INCIDENTS THAT CANNOT BE REPLICATED. "STABILITRAK" WARNING LIGHT HAS NOT TURNED OFF. I HAVE LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING TWICE BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AFTER A FEW SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER TO THE DASH. WHEN I AM TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL GETS VERY HARD TO TURN AND WILL TURN OFF THE RADIO. THIS WILL CAUSE THE CAR TO LOOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. THEN WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF I WILL BE UNABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT OR TURN THE VEHICLE ON. I WILL HAVE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE AND THE ALTERNATOR TWICE AND THIS HELPED FOR 2 MONTHS THEN THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. I ALSO REPLACED THE WHEEL SENSORS TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE TAKEN TO 3 MECHANICS BUT THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK, I WILL TRY TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND THEN JUST TAP ON THE BRAIN COMPARTMENT ABOVE THE BATTERY AND SOMETIMES THIS WORKS. I HAVE BEEN LEFT STRANDED MORE THAN I CARE TO ADMIT. WHILE DRIVING IF THE ISSUES ARE REALLY BAD AND IF I HAVE TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCE I WILL TRY TO USE CRUISE CONTROLL BUT IT WILL NOT ENGAGE.

GAVE ME A WORK-AROUND: MOVE AUTOMATIC GEAR TO M (MANUAL) THEN PUSH UP HARD TO P (PARK.). THE KEY COULD THEN BE REMOVED. THIS POSES A SAFETY ISSUE IF WORK-AROUND WAS NOT KNOWN. THERE'S A DANGER TO LEAVING THE CAR, UNABLE TO LOCK IT AND RUNNING THE BATTERY DOWN. IF THE CAR HAD BEEN IN A CRASH WITH THE NEED TO IMMEDIATELY LEAVE THE VEHICLE, THERE WOULD BE A RISK TO PASSENGERS, NEARBY PEDESTRIANS, OTHER DRIVERS AND PROPERTY. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER TO CONFIRM SERVICE NEEDED AND SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD NOT WAIT AND COME IN IMMEDIATELY.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your VUE! It sounds like you're getting some great mileage out of it, which is impressive for a vehicle of its size. Compared to other hybrids on the market, it seems like a really good deal. I hope that GM considers extending this BAS technology to other vehicles in their line in the future.

Hi there! After several months of research, we decided on the Vue and we couldn't be happier! The vehicle is tight and rides very well - not too soft nor too stiff. The fit and finish are top-notch and the interior layout is incredibly convenient. We even drove the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (under repair) and the Vue handled it like a dream - so smooth! The shifting is also smooth and quick enough for our liking. And let me tell you, the initial gas mileage appears to be just as advertised. Plus, the fold down seats are super easy to operate. We're really loving our Vue so far!

After researching minivans, SUVs, and sedans for almost two years, we finally decided to purchase a hybrid VUE. We had a Saturn SL2 before and decided to stick with Saturn for their excellent customer service and reliability. Although we would have loved to look closer at a hybrid Hilander, they were a bit too expensive for our budget. In the end, it came down to the VUE and Escape hybrid, and we chose the VUE because it was a little cheaper. As someone who loves the outdoors, I always need a bigger four-wheel drive for my hobbies, but for everyday driving, we needed something a little bigger that could fit a larger stroller and the dog while still getting decent MPG. This vehicle met all of our needs, and we expect to get close to the same MPG as our SL2. Thank you for your help in making this decision!

Just took delivery 2wks ago..great gas mileage so far and mild hybrid is much more sensible/cost efficient than full hybrids out there. VUE has terrific ride, looks and safety. Test drove RAV4, CRV, Escape and Equinox. Most were nice but VUE was best by far especially green line hybird version! Owned an Escape previously as well as a Corolla and this beats then all.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 2008 Vue Hybrid that I bought back in September of 2008. Overall, I think it's a nice car with great trims and style. However, I have encountered a couple of issues that stand out to me. Firstly, there are no roof racks available for the Vue Hybrid, and the only option from Thule costs a whopping $500 and requires custom installation. Secondly, I've been averaging 23.3 MPG, which is the best I've gotten so far, even when driving on long highway trips. I admit that I tend to drive a little fast and often in city mode due to my new locale, but it's just not worth it. Additionally, the car doesn't have AWD, which makes it bad for winter/rain, and the 4cyl lacks pickup. All that being said, I did try a US car, but I think I'm going back to foreign cars.

We purchased this vehicle just 2 days ago and so far everything seems fine. However, we recently discovered that there is a recall on the battery, which unfortunately no one informed us about. We are a bit disappointed that we were not made aware of this issue before purchasing the car. We are now waiting for the problem to be fixed, which may take 4-6 weeks. Despite this setback, we remain hopeful that we will be able to enjoy this SUV for a long time. We appreciate your understanding and hope to continue our business with you in the future.

I love the style and the performance. However, I have been experiencing some discomfort with the seats. As someone who is 5'11'' and weighs 250lbs, I find that the seats are not very accommodating for my body type. Unfortunately, the dealer has informed me that there are no other seats available to switch to, as all Saturns have the same seat with different upholstery. I am currently exploring my options and considering trading it in. After all, what good is performance if you can't enjoy the ride comfortably?

This car has a special place in my heart as it was my mom's before she kindly let me drive it when I turned 16. While it may not have had the best acceleration and I was often passed on the freeway, it served me well. However, after reaching 50k mileage, the car began to experience some issues and required replacement of various parts, including the brakes. As Saturn went out of business in 2009, finding some parts was a challenge, but Chevy was able to help. Unfortunately, the battery began to die frequently around 70k mileage and the interior started to show some wear and tear. While there was an Onstar service available, I found it frustrating at times as they struggled to find my directions or were not available, leading to long wait times. At one point, the Onstar panel even broke and pushed into the roof of the car. Despite these challenges, I have many fond memories of this car and was sad to see it go. If you plan to sell it, be aware that it may not fetch a high price, but it is still a reliable car that served me well.
