Common Porsche 911 carrera 4 problems

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 cars are known for their performance and luxury, but like any vehicle, they can experience certain problems. Here are some common issues based on complaints from owners:

  • Low or Flat Battery Power: Many Porsche models, including the 911, spend more time sitting in storage than being driven. This can lead to a flat battery, as the car still uses battery power to run important systems like the emissions control system and the electronic stability control. To prevent this issue, consider using a battery maintainer when storing the car for extended periods.
  • Coolant Leaks: Porsche cars, including the 911, are generally reliable when it comes to their cooling systems. However, there are several weaker areas that can cause issues, especially on the 911 and Cayenne models. Common sources of coolant leaks include small cracks in plastic coolant pipes and reservoirs, holes in radiators, and failing bearing water pumps. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help prevent these issues.
  • 2nd Gear Moving to Neutral: Some manual transmission models of the 911 experience an issue where the second gear shifts into neutral by itself. This is caused by damage to the dog ring or op-sleeve and can be dangerous. If you experience this issue, it's recommended to have the transmission inspected and repaired by a professional.
  • Exhaust Fault: More than 2200 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 models have been recalled in the US due to an issue with the exhaust pipes. The exhaust pipe can fracture and separate from the rear muffler, which can become a hazard for other vehicles on the road, increasing the risk of a crash. The fix for this issue is a replacement of the rear mufflers, at no cost to owners.

These are some of the common problems reported by owners of Porsche 911 Carrera 4 cars. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent many of these issues, and it's important to address any problems as soon as they arise to prevent further damage to the vehicle.
