First generation (A60; 2003)
Development of the Titan began in September 1999, with design work under Diane Allen. Giovanny Arroba's TA60 exterior was chosen in late 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The design language of the future truck was previewed by the 2001 Alpha T concept shown at the 2001 North American International Auto Show, which had previously developed through November 2000.
Production began on September 21, 2003, and sales on December 1, 2003. The Titan used Nissan's new full-size F-Alpha platform. This new platform was shared with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs, with all three manufactured in Canton, Mississippi, United States. The first generation Titan continued without a major redesign through 2015.

I purchased the 2019 Titan SV 2 wheel drive and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the seats are comfortable. The factory warranty of 5 years/100k miles is also a great bonus. While the information system could be improved, I ultimately chose the Titan over the Ram after reading consumer reviews. The front seats are particularly comfortable, although the back seats could be better. After driving it for 6 months and 10k miles, I have found that it gets an average of 15.1 mpg in the city and highway driving, and 21 mpg on the highway at 75 mph. As a Texas resident, I appreciate the powerful A/C that keeps me cool even in the brutal summers. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and would definitely buy it again.

I really love this truck! It does exactly what it's supposed to do, exactly when it's supposed to do it. Plus, it looks great! I bought the midnight edition, and it's definitely not your average truck. In fact, I don't know anyone else who has a Titan!

The Titan XD offers all the standard modern safety features that you would normally have to pay extra for or buy the top of the line model in order to get on a Ram or Silverado. The 9-speed transmission is really nice in getting the power to the tires, and the driver's seat is very comfortable. I ordered mine with the huge sunroof that the whole family could enjoy on a nice day out. Towing a car-hauler with my race car is effortless.

If you're considering purchasing a Nissan truck, I highly recommend going for the gas version instead of the diesel. In my experience, the gas V8 has been excellent in terms of acceleration, power, and Nissan reliability. I've owned four Nissan trucks over the past 25 years and they've all been great. However, the diesel version has had some issues due to Nissan's relative newness to diesel technology. In my opinion, the extra $5000 for the diesel is not worth it. While the diesel can tow up to 12,000 pounds, the gas version can tow up to 11,000 pounds and has faster acceleration, higher payload capacity, and greater reliability. I believe you'll be much happier with the gas version.
