The Nissan Titan is a full-size pickup truck manufactured in the United States for the North American market by Nissan. It was named after the Titans of Greek mythology.

First generation (A60; 2003)

Development of the Titan began in September 1999, with design work under Diane Allen. Giovanny Arroba's TA60 exterior was chosen in late 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The design language of the future truck was previewed by the 2001 Alpha T concept shown at the 2001 North American International Auto Show, which had previously developed through November 2000.

Production began on September 21, 2003, and sales on December 1, 2003. The Titan used Nissan's new full-size F-Alpha platform. This new platform was shared with the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs, with all three manufactured in Canton, Mississippi, United States. The first generation Titan continued without a major redesign through 2015.

Common Nissan Titan xd problems

Based on the complaints from owners of Nissan Titan XD cars, here are some common problems associated with these vehicles:

  • EGR System Problems:
    • The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system in Nissan Titan XD trucks is prone to issues like carbon buildup in the EGR valve and cracks in the EGR cooler. These problems can result in engine misfires, rough idling, and performance issues. While a recall was issued for the EGR cooler in certain model years, the EGR valve problems were not formally addressed by Nissan, leading to out-of-pocket expenses for owners.
  • Fuel System Malfunctions:
    • The electric fuel pump in the Titan XD with the 5.0L Cummins engine is a known failure point, often causing issues like engine misfires and rough idling. The pump's inability to filter out contaminants leads to internal damage and eventual failure. Replacing faulty fuel system components can be costly, with dealer fixes often proving ineffective, necessitating multiple replacements within a short mileage span.

These problems highlight significant reliability issues with the Nissan Titan XD, particularly related to the transmission, EGR system, and fuel system. Owners have faced challenges and expenses due to these recurring issues, impacting the performance and longevity of their vehicles.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my trucks. I previously owned a 2009 Titan LE, which I sold with 152,000 miles on it. Now, I'm the proud owner of a 2018 Titan XD, which I use daily for work. This year alone, I've put 15,000 miles on it! My daughter and her husband also use it to pull their camper. I have to say, I don't really understand the bad reviews. In my opinion, this truck does everything I ask it to do, and I would definitely buy it again. Thanks for listening!

I bought my Titan XD in January 2018. It's a 4X4 SL Crew Cab with the 5.6 gas V8. I'm happy to say that the truck has been great so far. It rides as smoothly as any family sedan and is quiet and comfortable inside. My old Titan was an incredible truck with 180,000 miles when I traded it in, so I had high expectations for the new model. And it has exceeded them! The truck gets good mileage for its size and tows my 7,000 pound RV with no issue. It doesn't even sound like it's working when pulling it. The whole truck feels sturdy and well put together. The doors have a solid

Great truck! I used to own a 2017 Titan XD PR trim, but now I have a 2020 Pro4X. It's a huge improvement over the diesel version. I had a lot of trouble with my 2017 due to the diesel, but with the 2020 gas engine, I got it when it came out a few months ago and have had no issues at all. The interior is completely updated with a new dash and I absolutely love it!

My boss owns a XD Pro4x Diesel 5.0 for his local handyman business. Myself and two other guys work for him. It's a spacious truck that tows the tool trailer (20') with ease. The 6.5 foot bed is more functional than a short bed and the truck is very comfortable. If you need to demo 3500 lbs of brick and then carry it 50' to a dumpster in Colorado winter, you'll be glad you're sitting in leather with heated rear seats. The truck is offroad capable, great at towing, and has enough room for a crew of four men. I'm 6'2 and haven't felt cramped. My boss hasn't reported any issues, but it has the best warranty. In my opinion, it's the best truck for the money, hands down!

I've been a fan of Chevys and Fords for years, but I have to say, my new Titan has won me over. Firstly, the XD with the 5.6 and 9-speed combo compares really well to the Chevy 1500 LTZ with the 6.2 and 10-speed auto, but for far less money (a $25,000 difference!). Secondly, it comes with all the safety features you need without having to upgrade to a far more expensive model. Thirdly, it has a 6.5-foot bed as standard. Fourthly, it comes with a 5-year, 100,000-mile warranty, which is a few grand more than the other guys! I could go on and on, but do yourself a favor and give Nissan a look before spending your hard-earned money. You may be surprised!
