The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automaker BMW since 1977. It is the successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" sedan and is now in its seventh generation.

The 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available in a sedan bodystyle (including long wheelbase and limousine models). It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before other models in BMW's lineup.

The first generation of the 7 Series was powered by straight-6 petrol engines, and following generations have been powered by inline-4, straight-6, V8 and V12 engines with both natural aspiration and turbocharging. Since 1995, diesel engines have been optional in the 7 Series.

Unlike the 3 Series and 5 Series sedans, BMW does not offer a full M model, but once offered an M performance variant, the BMW M760 with its 6.6L V12 (at the time the most powerful BMW ever made, not to be confused with BMW 760 6.6 V12 which does not offer the same performance). The Alpina B7 (G12) served as the high-performance variant of the 7 Series.

Common Bmw 750xi problems

The BMW 750xi is a luxury sedan that has been praised for its performance and handling, but it has also been criticized for various issues reported by its owners. Here are some of the common problems with the BMW 750xi based on complaints from owners:

  • Oxygen Sensor Failure: Another common issue with the BMW 750xi is the failure of the oxygen sensor. This can result in poor fuel efficiency, reduced engine performance, and increased emissions. The oxygen sensor is responsible for measuring the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases, and if it fails, it can cause a variety of problems with the engine.
  • AC Compressor Failure: The air conditioning system is another area where the BMW 750xi has been known to have issues. The AC compressor is a critical component of the air conditioning system, and if it fails, it can result in reduced cooling capacity or complete failure of the air conditioning system. This can be a major problem, especially in hot weather conditions.
  • Fuel Pump Failure: The fuel pump is responsible for delivering fuel to the engine, and if it fails, it can result in a variety of problems, including reduced engine performance, poor fuel efficiency, and even complete engine failure. The BMW 750xi has been known to have issues with both the high and low pressure fuel pumps, which can be a costly repair.
  • Electrical System Issues: Electrical system issues are a common problem with the BMW 750xi. These issues can range from minor problems, such as malfunctioning lights or power windows, to more serious problems, such as complete electrical failure. Electrical system issues can be difficult to diagnose and repair, and they can be a major headache for BMW 750xi owners.
  • Vehicle Speed Control Failures: Vehicle speed control failures are another common problem with the BMW 750xi. These failures can result in a loss of control of the vehicle, which can be a major safety concern. Vehicle speed control failures can be caused by a variety of factors, including faulty sensors, worn-out components, or software issues.

In conclusion, while the BMW 750xi is a luxury sedan that offers excellent performance and handling, it is not without its issues. Owners of the BMW 750xi have reported a variety of problems, including door handle failure, oxygen sensor failure, AC compressor failure, fuel pump failure, electrical system issues, and vehicle speed control failures. These issues can be costly to repair and can cause significant inconvenience for BMW 750xi owners.

WITHIN MINUTES, THE BATTERY DIED, SO I COULDN'T EVEN PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL TO GET IT ONTO THE FLATBED TOW TRUCK. I EVENTUALLY WAS ABLE TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT CPO IN 2015 AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED (I HAD EVEN HAD IT SERVICED THERE 3 WEEKS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT). THE ENGINE HAD RECEIVED THE "CUSTOMER CARE PACKAGE" IN 2015, AND I'VE ONLY HAD IT SERVICED THROUGH BMW DEALERS. 3 DAYS AFTER I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER, THE SA TOLD ME THERE WAS A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ENGINE. IT'S BEEN THERE FOR 4 MONTHS NOW, WAITING FOR A NEW ENGINE, AND THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN'T PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE ON WHEN THE NEW ENGINE WILL ARRIVE. I CONTACTED BMW NA, AND THEY WERE ALSO UNABLE TO TELL ME WHEN A REPLACEMENT ENGINE COULD BE EXPECTED. I'M NOT EVEN SURE I WANT A REPLACEMENT ENGINE THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO FAIL AGAIN.
